  • Retry: value of a 40 year old bottle of Canadian Club?

I posted this question a few days ago and I had some wrong details in it. Thanks to those who tried to answer. Let me try again with better accuracy:

I have a bottle of Canadian Club blended Canadian whiskey that I bought in 1971. It was 6 years old at the time, as stated on the label plus the "1965" date stamp across the top. The bottle has never been opened. I've stored it on its side all this time. (I bought it for a special occasion that never came to pass, and I don't drink whiskey.)

Two questions: (1) Is the whiskey any good after all this time? Does it keep indefinitely? Does it improve with age (decades in this case)? Or has it gone bad due to age? And (2), does this bottle have any special value to collectors or anyone, given its vintage? Would it be marketable on Ebay or otherwise?

  • Value of a 40 year old bottle of whiskey?

I have a bottle of Canadian Club bourbon that I bought in 1970. It was 7 years old at the time, their standard practice. The bottle has never been opened. I've stored it on its side all this time. (I bought it for a special occasion that never came to pass, and I don't drink whiskey.)

Two questions: (1) Is the whiskey any good after all this time? Does it keep forever like red wine? Or has it gone bad due to age? And (2), does this bottle have any special value, given its vintage?

  • No continuity directly through modem, most go through router to see Internet?

In trying to troubleshoot an Internet connection problem, I ran into this frustration. First, here is my system:

    ISP: Comcast

    Modem: Motorola Surfboard SB5100

Router: Netgear RP614v3 (wired, 4 ports)

    PC: #1 XP Pro, #2 XP Home, #3 Win98SE

No connection to port #4 on the router.

Okay, the problem: the Comcast rep asked me to bypass my router, connecting PC #1 directly to the modem. At this time, everything is working fine. So I removed the cable at the modem output jack and replaced it with the cable from PC #1 that had been in router port #1. The modem is now patched directly to the network card on the computer.

I have no continuity to the Internet. The LEDs on the modem all indicate normal; but I cannot access anything on line from a browser (Firefox or IE).

I replaced the cables back to normal, and everything is fine. I can see the Internet through the router.

I did the same test using PC #3, with the same result.

Connecting the modem output directly to the computer SHOULD work, but for some reason it doesn't. Anyone know what I'm missing here? Thanks in advance.
