  • PTO gamble with covid travel, advice?

I'd like to fly to Mexico to visit my girlfriend for a week tomorrow. However, the new administration has decided in their infinite wisdom to require covid tests three days before any international return flight. If I go and I test positive I would have to quarantine in Mexico for two more weeks which would take all my PTO for the year (I plan to be as safe as possible with covid risks). Would you risk going the whole year without time off for a week with your partner?

    Thanks for the advice.

  • How do I script user login for a remote website?

I'm doing this as part of a job interview and I'm lost. They created a dummy website for me, I have to find the bugs in the site and automate user creation and login. How do I do that with a remote website? It seems like most tools are made to check the html/php code locally? Any explanation helps a lot! Thanks!

  • CPU vs. video card for home theater?

My laptop just can't take it any more, I get about 10 minutes with the HDMI port on my TV before she heats up and my frame rate tanks so it's time for a new media computer.

I'd like to spend around $300 on the CPU + graphics card, what is the best way to spend it (e.g. $100 on CPU $200 on card)?

I'll be doing some gaming but mostly HD video streaming and playback. Thanks for the help!

  • investment strategy for young people?

I've looked all over the internet and all I can find is don't use credit cards, use IRA etc.

I'm 27 income around 75k and invest around 15% in IRA / 401K (both Roth). I've got no debt, no children, and none of those god awful expensive wives everyone seems to be so crazy about.

I feel I can take a lot of risk and would like to, I own a lot of mid and small cap growth funds but would like more risk. I don't expect anyone on here to be my broker for free but can anyone point me in the right direction? I know individual stocks are the answer but don't know where to start?

    Thanks

  • tablet / 2 in 1 with upgradeable memory?

Hi, I can't find the tablet I want, the top of the line surface 3 will work but I'm not paying $1200. I'd like to buy an Acer /Asus and add memory and maybe a better processor. Is there a tablet that makes this possible? Or are they all soldered to save space?

    Thanks!

I'd like an 11" with 4+gb memory and a decent CPU (can't decide on atom or and/Intel) the tablet will primarily be used as a controller for a PC via VPN.

  • swimming vs weight lifting?

    Hi,

It's winter here in Colorado, no more soccer, football, etc. (The high today is 5°).

I've been a swimmer my while life and my joints are starting to go. I cannot lift and swim without almost certain injury to my shoulders. If you had to choose between swimming (cardio) and lifting (strength) which would you choose and why.

(Even if I decide to swim I'll still lift, but cannot benchpress, pull up, etc.)

  • where to look for project car?

I'm starting to look for a project car, want to put an LS crate in something, thinking 2010+ camaro or 350z. I don't want to pay for a running engine and transmission when I'll be replacing them anyhow. Where can I find cars that don't run?

There's gotta be a better way than sifting through endless junkyards.

  • multiple 401ks at the same time?

    2014 contribution limit: $17,500

    My employer matches 3℅: ~$3,000

Obviously I want to take advantage of the match, which takes my remaining investment to $14,500. I do not like my employer's 401k choices and prefer Roth investments (my employer does not offer Roth). Is there any way to use the remaining 14.5k how I would like to? Or am I stuck with my employer's preferences?

Thanks, I'm 27 if it helps

  • driver tried to kill me, how do you defend yourself?

I was riding through Denver, came up on a car and he hit the gas to keep me from passing so I got behind him and waited for him to pass the next car... Lame but whatever. When I did get by him he swerved into my lane! Just for passing him.

I'm kinda shaken by it, I felt really helpless, I should have followed him but didn't. What can I do/carry in the case someone tries to do this again?

I'm looking for something other than a gun, I can't imagine that's effective from a motorcycle and I already carry off the bike. Not to mention the legal trouble.

  • What irons are right for me?

I was about to buy a set of rocketballz (they're down to ~$300) to replace my late 90's dunlops.

I'm not a bad player, hit the green about 40% of the time from under 200 yards, I bought a rocketballz driver last year and can hit 250 straight as an arrow 90% of the time. My game really just needs some consistency, the driver helped a lot so I figured the irons would as well.

Is rocketballz a good choice for me? Is there something else I should look at? Maybe lessons instead?

Thanks a lot for the help!

  • Is this aftermarket exhaust worth the money?

    Hey all,

After a bit of "misfortune" (stupidity) I did not double check the exhaust hanger on my 2008 CBR1000RR after installing rearsets and lost my stock slip on I70 (now flat as a pancake). I've found stock replacements for $100.00 because everyone is switching them out, but would really like this taylormade exhaust which costs $800!

    https://www.racetaylormade.com/?cars=200809-honda-...

I'm having trouble making the decision and justifying $700 difference. Can anyone tell me about aftermarket exhaust? If it were your bike what would you do?

Thanks a lot for the advice!

  • Cheap vs Expensive auto wheels (rims)?

I've never bought "rims" before. I know you get what you pay for.

Here are the two I'm considering:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-19-IN-63-STAGGERD...

    and

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/121243080202?item=12124308...

I know they aren't made by Mercedes, should I have quality concerns with these? Is there a difference between the two sets or is one seller just greedier than the other? Is there any way to know?

Thanks a lot for the help

  • Where should I look for a job (physics degree)?

I've got a Physics degree, decent GPA, a little military experience (training only, never served)

I currently work for a defense contractor in software. I hate software and feel it's very dead-end. I would go anywhere in the world for the right job.

    Any advice is much appreciated.

    THANKS

  • seller goes 10,000 mi between oil changes, problems?

2000 Mercedes s500 only 60k miles! I love MB and this seems like a great deal but I'm worried about the oil, if I use synthetic and change it regularly will it get rid of the sludge, or am I just asking to be my mechanic's best friend?

Seller hasn't had the car that long but I would guess it's 20k on one change right now.
