How does one deal with unrequited love?
It's not important that you know any backstory, and please don't tell me to just get over it - this is a serious question.
Facts:
I'm in love with a woman, I know it with absolute certainty.
I also know this woman is straight (I am a gay woman), so therefore a relationship is not a possibility. She also has a family, and even if a relationship were a possibility I could never cause her such pain of ruining that bliss.
I have not told her, and do not plan to.
We were once very close, years ago when I was younger, in high school, but now only see each other when we run into each other randomly in the city.
So - I'm after any advice on how people deal with this sort of love.
I've been sitting on it for over a year; I know exactly what it is, with certainty. I just find the future extremely bleak because I know that, realistically, the chance of finding someone who I can love as much, and who could love me back the same, is very low (there simply aren't enough gay women out there to ensure a matchup!) And whilst I love feeling so much for one person, it's the most painful thing I've ever been through and I've decided it's time I asked others how they live with this.
Ideas or thoughts?
Thanks x

2 AnswersSingles & Dating9 years agoWhere do all the lesbians hang out in Canberra?
Yes, I visit Cube Nightclub - but they're usually all masculine/alternative lesbians anyway. Where are the feminine/mainstream lesbians?
:)
3 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender9 years agoHow do I tell if a girl is a lesbian, when she's feminine?
This is a serious question.
The only lesbians I can spot are the ones we can all spot from a mile away, and I'm talking the stereotypical masculine/alternative lesbians.
Problem - I'm only into feminine girls.
So how do I tell? If she dresses the same, acts the same, looks the same as any other girl?
(btw, this is hypothetical, I haven't actually got my eye on someone)
Thanks
5 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender9 years agoHas anyone here fallen in love with a teacher of the same sex?
I'm just interested in your stories :)
So you know who's asking:
A current 3rd year uni student - very much in love with a previous teacher from high school, and am very certain it's not a 'crush'.
Cheers in advance for your responses!
