  • Got busted by a doe?

I was bowhunting on saturday and got busted by a doe. I was using brush as cover, since I don't have a blind and don't have time to build a permanent one. I had plenty of cover on my left, which is where I was expecting it to come from. Of course, it came from the right and surprised. I made the mistake of jerking my head to look at it and it saw the movement. She stomped and blew at me for about 5 mins before leaving. I'm probably going to build a permanent blind this week but I'm wondering if that place is ruined. Will she always be looking there, or can I get away with it?

  • My 38 S&W shells are expanding?

I have an old 1915 Colt Police Positive 38 chambered in 38 s&w that I was shooting yesterday. I was using Fiocchi 147 grain LRN. both times I fired it the cartridges did want to eject because they expanded slightly. I have heard that Fiocchi loads this particular round hotter than other manufacturers. Could this be the problem? What do you guys think?

P.S. I was shooting 38 s&w out of it not 38 long or anything like that

  • NCAA Investigation penalties?

What are the most likely penalties/sanctions to be brought down upon these SEC schools where players were allegedly given benefits? I realize that this hasn't been proven, but I'm a huge Tennessee fan and I'm kinda worried about possible sanctions. If you don't know, allegedly, the Tennessee players indirectly received approx. $1,300 each from NFL agents and the school had nothing to do with it. What would the possible sanctions be for this?

  • Ak-47 or wasr 10 question?

My grandfather gave me an ak-47 recently. It was made by romarms and it has the receiver dimple, finished furniture, and it seems to lack the mag wobble that wasr 10s are notorious for. So my question is do u think this is an ak or a wasr? And what are the other obvious difference between the 2?

  • setting the drag on a bait caster?

I use 12 mono on my rod and I keep my drag at about 4lbs. the only problem is that every time I set the hook my reel makes a whizzing sound just for an instant and a little bit of line comes out. I missed a striper the other day and i'm pretty sure it was because of this. I set my drag slightly higher to avoid this. yesterday I caught a 3lb largemouth and when I was fighting it the drag was so high that it couldn't run at all and I was afraid my line would break under the stress. I haven't been able to find a happy medium to where line doesn't come out during the hook set but the fish can still run with it. so my question is: should I have my drag set high enough to avoid line coming out during the hookset or should I have it low enough so that decent sized bass can run with it a little so my line won't break?

  • could i hunt with this gun?

i'm thinking about turkey hunting next year. i have an old stevens savage 9478 single shot 20 gauge. the barrel is 26 inches. the only problem is that it's not compatible with chokes and i don't feel like taking it to a gunsmith. so my question is would it be effective/ practical to hunt with this shotgun even though i can't put a choke on it?

  • mosin nagant question?

i may have asked this already but i don't think it posted. if this is the second time you have answered, my apologies. the bolt on my mosin nagant is sticking very badly. the only way to to open the bolt from the decocked position is to manually cock the bolt by pulling the cocking piece back and then opening the bolt. i disassembled the bolt last night and can assure you that it is spotless and it is not a cleaning issue. i have had it for about a year and put about 100 rounds through it and never had any issues with it. any ideas on what the problem could be?

  • mosin nagant question?

the bolt on my mosin is sticking so bad i just about took a hammer to it last night. the only way to open the bolt from the decocked position is to manually cock it by pulling back on the cocking piece and then opening it. i disassembled the bolt last night and i can guarantee you that the bolt is spotless so it's not a cleaning issue. i have had it for about a year and put about 100 rounds through it and have never had an issues. any ideas on what could be the problem?

  • bolt action rifles problem?

every time i chamber a round on my remington 700 adl .30-06 it scratches the case and makes this squeaking/screeching sound. its almost brand new. i have discovered that the piece of metal that keeps the top bullet in the magazine until it is chambered is scraping the bullet as it goes up the feed ramp (that may be the wrong term) into the chamber. does anybody know how to fix this?

  • question about new rule?

i'm sure most of u have heard about the new rule in college that if you lose your helmet and you try to continue playing your team gets penalized. and then you have to sit out a play. what does the ball carrier do if he loses his helmet? is he supposed to just fall down or is the play dead when his helmet comes off?

  • question about shotguns?

what do i need to do to install a choke on my stevens 9478? it is a single shot 20 ga. break action. is it even possible to put a choke on this gun? i want a full or extra full choke but there doesn't seem to be any way to screw a choke onto the barrel. internal or extended choke would be fine, i just don't know how to put it on there. the barrel is just a normal smoothbore shotgun barrel. shotguns are not my area so any help would be appreciated. thanks!

  • remington x mark pro trigger?

i just bought a remington 700 adl from wally world today. it had the "new" remington xmark pro trigger. it is not the externally adjustible one so i don't expect it to break. does anybody know anything about this trigger? it breaks nicely somewhere in the 3-4lb range. what are your thoughts on this trigger? again, it's not the one that has been known to break in half. is this a good trigger from what you know?

  • mosin nagant trigger job?

i was wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to improve a mosin nagants trigger pull. yes, i know this is no target rifle and that is why i don't want to invest in a timney trigger. i have already put a washer between the sear spring and the reciever to lower the trigger pull. i also polished the tool marks out of the sear and i put a spring between the bolt stop and the sear to take up the slack. by doing all this i got rid of the grittiness, lowered the trigger pull, and got rid of all the slack on the trigger, but the trigger pull is still kind of heavy. does anybody have any ideas on how i can lower the trigger pull some more? thanks!

  • what kind of ak-47 is this?

i went to the range with my grandfather today and he had the strangest ak i have ever seen. it was tiny, the barrel was only 10 inches. at first i thought it might be an aks-74u or some other carbine version of the 74 but it shoots a 7.62x39 so it cant be a ak-74. does anybody have any idea what this is? there is no stock.
