  • Second job interview question?

    Hi there!

    Last week I had my first phone interview with a recruiter for a job opportunity. This week I had a second formal phone interview, (I'm not located in the same area) with a higher up person in the company. At the end of the second interview, the interviewer said the person I originally spoke with would be in touch to set up an additional phone interview and an in-person interview once I return to my home state after graduation. So, my question is is it too soon to follow up with my main contact? In order to ask what the next step in the interview process is? I didn't want to send an email too early, but is Friday still too soon? As a reference it'll have been four days tomorrow.

  • Verbal job offer, but now nothing?!?!?

    I was interviewing with a company that has three rounds of interviews, during the second one I was quickly taken into the third interview with the VP. Later that same day the VP called and verbally offered me a job to begin in the spring, after I graduate from college. The VP said I'd be hearing from the hiring manager who interviewed me earlier that day; that he'd be in touch the next day sometime. However, I haven't heard anything after the verbal offered. I'm thinking there is a candidate that is preferred and they're negotiating and keeping me as backup if their negotiations fail? Any other possibilities?

    PS: No, I have not gotten a formal job offer in writing. Should I follow-up with them, or is the ball in their court/it would be unprofessional of me to email HR?

  • When to Apply for Jobs as a College Senior?

    Hi,

    the discussion of when to apply for jobs during your last year of undergraduate work is one I am always unsure about! Currently, I am in my last semester of college, a business administration major with a focus in economics and minor in marketing. However, some will say not to apply for jobs until you're 4-6 weeks away from graduating, while there is differing opinion on when to begin the application process. So, not that it's February ('17), should I begin to apply now? Or wait until April?

    I'd like to stay in within the major metro area where I go to school, however, I am from 750 miles away so that is a factor I am considering for wanting to apply now vs. late spring (also, my lease ends late spring too).

    Thank you in advance!

  • Employer not withholding state and Federal taxes?

    Hi,

    I am working at a waitress at a restaurant in Maryland, however, each week I get a paycheck my employer has/is not withholding Federal nor Maryland taxes. Rather they are withholding Social Security and Medicare taxes as well as with holding a particular percent of my tips after every shift. My concern is, with every shift I work the more in taxes I'll have to pay out once April comes, but I don't know how much to withhold myself? If it helps I am filing as a student since I am still an undergrad.

    It doesn't make sense they'd withhold Social Security and Medicare, but not Federal and MD state taxes.

    Thanks in advance for any knowledge/help!

  • Tenant Moves Out Before Lease is Up?

    Hi,

    My roommate is moving out BEFORE the lease is up for renewal. We're renting in the state of Florida, if that helps at all. Is there anything governed by Florida law that states a tenant HAS to find a replacement tenant before vacating the property and dumping the whole amount of rent on the remaining tenants?

    Thank you!!

  • Marginal Coat Calculation?

    Total cost is given by this equation TC = 3 + 7q

    I have for TC = 3 + 7q

    q = 0, p = 12 for TC I have 3

    q = 1, p = 11 for TC I have 10

    q = 2, p = 10 for TC I have 17

    q = 3, p = 9 for TC I have 24

    q = 4, p = 8 for TC I have 31

    Now, when I calculate MARGINAL COST I get lost!! I know in order to get marginal cost the equation is: the change in total cost / the change in quantity but I can't seem to figure out where I am going wrong!

  • No response after I answered the question "What was your first impression of me"?

    Hi,

    The other night I was texting a guy from one of my classes this semester. Long story short, I am interested in him and people around us have said he has interest in me. So, the other night we were texting and the conversation began with him putting across some sexual innuendo's. Then he told me I could ask 10 in ten minutes, but that went on for much long than 10 mins., when the 'questioning' was turned around on me he asked "what was your first impression of me" I answered and then asked him "what was your first impression of me?". Yet, he never answered my question and this was on Saturday. Getting to the point of my question, is it a bad thing he didn't answer? Even through it was 3:00 AM. And not having hared from him since then?

  • Should I Ask Him Out or Wait For Him?

    Hi everyone,

    So...there's this guy that's in my one of my college classes that I like. When I look back earlier on in the semester I can now see he was trying to get my attention, but being the oblivious person I am I didn't notice. However, that is until a group of us from class started going out. I can tell he's attracted to me, for example, when we were at a bar and dancing he began rubbing my hands; when a few of us go out to eat he could very well sit elsewhere but he sits next to me; and the glances in-class and when we're out with friends he does some heavy eye contact.

    Yesterday, I was having lunch with a friend and he was supposed to meet us there, so as we're waiting she says to me "I think (fill in name) is gearing up to ask you out. I can tell he's into you".

    Okay. So my question is how much longer should I wait for him to ask me out? Keep in mind our semester ends on Dec. 12th. Or should I just do it? This coming Friday I have to go to the publication of my college's magazine and speak, so would that be something casual to ask if he wants to go with me?

    Thanks in advance!

  • What Does It Mean When You Are Dancing With A Guy And?

    What does it mean when you are dancing with a guy and they are rubbing your hands the entire time? So last night my college was holding a salsa dance lesson, and this guy from one of my classes showed up. As we were dancing together, he was rubbing my hands that whole time. What exactly does that mean, if anything? I've never has a guy do that before so I kinda lost.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Accounting? Discount on bonds?

    Hi,

    The questions I have is how does one figure/what are the calculations for bond discount? The problem I have states: A corporation issued $260,000, 7%, 10 year bonds on Jan. 1 for $242,554 (8% effective rate).

    I know the other calculations for the interest, amortization, etc., however, how do you calculate the discount of $17,446 ($260,000 - $242,554)?

    I have looked in my text book and can't find a definitive answer.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Accounting-Stocks?

    Hello!!! I don't know how to go about figuring out this problem that deals with stocks, since my instructor never went over the material in-class. Any help clearing the information up would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

    Now the question:

    The stockholders’ equity section of Hubbard Corp.’s balance sheet as of December 31 is as follows:

    Paid-in-capital

    Preferred stock, 7% cumulative, $100 par value, $103 call value, $60,000 shares authorized, issued, and outstanding $6,000,000

    Paid-in-capital in excess of par value-preferred $350,000

    Common stock, $10 par value, 3,000,000 shares authorized

    2,400,000 shares issued and outstanding $24,000,000

    Paid-in capital in excess of par value-common $10,000,000

    Total pain-in capital 40,350,000

    Retained earnings 5,500,000

    Total stockholders’ equity $45,850,000

    A) Assume that the preferred stock is entitled to one year’s dividends in arrears, what is common stock’s book value?

    B) Assuming that net income for this year is $900,000 and that the number of common shares remained constant, what is the basic earnings per share?

    PS I thought it would be easier to out the whole question here vs. only A and B.

    Again, thanks!

  • When the market price increases, does this result in a shortage? Economics.?

    Hi, quick economics question...I think I have a the correct answer?

    If the price of a good falls (e.g.,bananas) it would result in quantity demand, right? And because of quantity demand it (bananas) will result in the good being increased…And finally, due to the increase of demand it (bananas) will result in a shortage? in the market for the (said) good? And because of this shortage? A new equilibrium price will be set by higher in the demand curve? Because of the increase in price/demand?

  • Is a psychology MINOR worth it?

    Hi,

    I am currently a business administration major and I am thinking of adding a minor in psychology, however, I am not sure if it is worth the additional time/money in school. My current program of study requires psychology and sociology courses (aside business courses, e.g., accounting, economics, management, etc). Would having a minor in psychology be useful in getting a job working people/having a business of my own (better understanding employees), jobs in the health care industry and/or going back to school later?

    Thank you! For any comments/advice.
