I'm a 20 year old married Marine wife coping with her husband being in Iraq for the first time. It's not easy being in a new town with new people all by yourself but i'm surviving because that's all one can do. I work, go to school, and play super woman on the weekends!

  • Husband in Iraq need a little help?

My husband is in Iraq and normally he is a very trusting laid back kind of guy, unfortunately this is his first deployment and he is taking it hard. He is asking me not to go out and do anything. He wants me to only hang out with his best friends wife and no one else. He also is asking that I write him every free moment that I have, I understand writing him a lot however he gets angry when I take a break and stop writing him for say an hour. However he has been using me as his crutch and I don't know what to do about it. It is nearly impossible to just have social contact with one person for nine months and getting yelled at for not writing him enough is taking a toll on my mental health. I'm worried that he is going to have a mental breakdown but no matter how much i love him i cannot be pulled down mentally with him. I do not know how to deal with the situation or how to deal with him. I love him more than anything but how do i help him without losing myself?

  • My dogs missing their daddy how to deal?

My husband left for Iraq two months ago but our dogs are still having anxiety about him leaving. it seems like every time i go out the door they start to freak out like I am going to leave them too. I have to kennel them when I go to work and despite running them after i get off work and playing with them on my lunch break they are still missing their daddy. Our older dog actually took his picture from by the bed and brought it into his cage. Are there any other military wives that have had this problem with their dogs? If so how did you deal with it?

  • Hyphy movement?!! Who knows what?

okay so i just sold my '88 chevy malibu to a kid who's going to turn it into a scraper( a two toned four dour sedan with a whistle pipe up on 22"s.) and as i was explaining this to my fiance he was basically like "what is a scraper?" so as i explained to him and tried to explain "hyphy" and "going stupid" to him i received this statement... "i'm from East Los and you're more ghetto than us!" lol! okay so basically he was joking i know, but then it made me wonder who knows about this jazz outside of nor cal because obviously people from East L.A., which are notoriously "ghetto" (pardon my expression) do not know about it. now i'm a nerd. I proclaim to be nothing other than a nerd and am rather proud of that fact, but even i know what the heck this all is and have partaken in a few "gas break dips" myself. So my question is, do you know about the hyphy movement? Where are you located if you do or don't? How did you hear about it?

  • fiance talking to ex?

Wierd situation i'm in and i could use someone elses perspective on the situation. Recently my fiance has been talking to his ex, which he has completely told me about and even tells me what they have talked about. he reassures me that he loves me and that he doesn't want her back, he just promised her that he would never let her be alone. her parents are divorcing, which is a difficult situation for anyone, and instead of allowing her to go with either parent they are both moving out of state and forcing her to move in with her brother...which is odd but still i have no place to judge other parents. She is trying to finish her schooling, which is honorable and i feel bad for the girl, but i know that she wants my guy back. She's stated it to him and she just wants him to come save her. I've told him that it's fine to be there for her, just remember that he has me to come home to. Am i wrong in this mentality? The thing is that i don't like the girl. She murdered his baby and...

  • help?!?! Spanish speaking mother in law?

Okay so I was informed today that my soon to be mother in law doesn't like to speak english. I am a hispanic in nationality only, other than that i'm as white as they come! my fiance even calls me a redneck (no cruelty intended)! However last night he told me that when i meet his mother she will probably only speak to me in spanish. I don't understand spanish. I took four years of it and the extent of my spanish is still Yo quiero taco bell! is there a really good program for learning the language, or at least some way to fake it well enough that she doesn't make me look like a complete idiot. My guy loves his mother dearly, but he has no suggestions, only that i attempt to learn because she will do it even if he asks her not to. (gotta love mother in law's right?) Anyone have a similar situation? how did you handle it? What happens if i'm just too dense to learn another language? Any help would be appreciated!

  • my best friends boyfriend is an a$$!?

Okay so my best friends boyfriend of 4 years hit her last night. Normally he's a very quiet guy, but lately, for like the last three or four months he's been treating her badly. He feeds her instead of talking to her, and she has gained 80 lbs within the last year. now he is mad because she's not his "hot" girlfriend and has since been looking at other alternatives for his "needs" He has been increasingly unpredictable and yet she doesn't listen when i tell her to move on. I'm beginning to think he's doing drugs because he stays up for days on end, treating her ridiculously and he hit her last night!

I myself was in an abusive relationship where my boyfriend of a year+ became addicted to drugs and i got myself out of it. however as i try to share with her my experiences she turns away from me and into her "bf" because she "loves him" and can't be without him. She's a very smart, very pretty girl, but i can't get through to her. Any suggestions would be helpful!

  • worried about fiance going to Iraq?

okay, so the more news articles i read the more worried am that my hubby to be will get killed in Iraq, granted he is an airplane mechanic, but he wants to work his way to the fighting...mainly because he has a personal vendetta and a promise to keep to his best friend that died over there. Is there any way to talk him out of his planned movement from mechanic to the front lines? I'm worried that he won't come back to me... how do all of you military wives deal with the distance and the separation from the one you love for so long? I'm going to support him in whatever he does, i just want to explain to him that he's being stupid for wanting to be in the middle of the fighting just to prove a point. Plus he told me not to be mad if he does get killed because he loves me and he always will. I just don't want to answer the door to two marines holding a US flag telling me my husband is dead. Any advice?

  • Wedding dilemma???

Okay, so i kind of have a dilema and could use some advice. My parents have been divorced since i was 2 and my mom has been with my stepdad since I was 3. Now i love my dad, don't get me wrong, he tries...sometimes...but he really hasn't been there for me throughout my life. Ie. i helped to raise his two boys, my little brothers, and at one point had to take care of him in his drunken stupor. However, my step dad has always been there fore me and is an awesome guy. I mean he's not my dad but if i need him he is there for me.

So my dilema is, can i have both of them walk me down the aisle without it being a problem? I want to honor both of them rather than just one, but i'm the only girl for my dad and my stepdad has a daughter. I want to have them both walk me down, but i don't really know how they will react to that idea. Any similar situations? Ideas on how to break it to them?

:: side note:: how to break it to our families it will be a dry wedding? no alchohol!

  • What are your views on Finding the "One"?

I'm bored at work, and thinking about my Hubby to be...wondering how other Married or engaged couples feel about their significant other and why? Do you believe you found the one person you were meant to be with?

My experience... my grandfather died about a year and half ago and before he died he told me that he would look out for me and send me someone to make me happy. So when i first met my hubby to be i knew it was "Him" before i even knew his name! My heart stopped, and i just knew, now i'm the happiest i've ever been and i can't wait to be his mrs.! Just wondering how everyone fell in love with or decided to be with their "one"?

  • Insurance and Tax info for married people?

    two questions:

    1) If i get married in December of 07 do i have to file as married separatey for that year or can i still file as single because i was single for the entire year? Is there a way to still be claimed as a dependent by my parents because i will still be living with them till my husband gets back from iraq?

    2) Do I have to report the marriage to my insurrance right away? I only use it for emergencies, but i don't know how to switch everything over to my husbands insurrance while i am here and he's gone. Any suggestions from military wives? (the marine corp. is a very confusing system!)

    3) I'm still in college, do i have to notify my school of the marriage? (It might hurt me or it might help me, i just haven't gethered enough information to know what to do yet.)

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Quiet marriage?

My fiance and I are planning on getting married in December of this year, however we are planning on doing a civil ceremony and when my husband gets back for iraq we are going to do it officially in the church with our families. We are getting married in december because it will up his pay scale while he's in Iraq and help out for our first year of marriage. Is there a way to do this legally and appease our parents at the same time?
