  • How does a composite shaft hold up on the street?

I play a lot of street hockey and ball hockey on a gym floor. I always use use wood sticks with ABS blades because they get the job done on street and they are cheap but recently I have become interested in trying to use a composite stick on the street. I know you have to put an ABS blade in or the composite blade will get torn up. So my question is; how do the composite shafts hold up with an ABS blade? I really want to try it but I don't want to spend all the money only to have the shaft snap when I take a full on slapper in my driveway.

  • Black PA National Guard Keystone Patch?

I know my dad served during Vietnam and for years after in the National Guard but unfortunately he passed away before I could talk to him about his service so I only have vague second hand accounts. I recently found his old military jacket (looked to be Vietnam era) with a black keystone patch on the shoulder. I researched it and could only find info about red keystone patches or articles about a unit being designated the black keystone patch in country (56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division in Iraq). So I was wondering if the black keystone is only issued in the country you were sent to fight? Any other information on this black keystone patch especially in the Vietnam era would be greatly appreciated.

  • CCM wooden sticks: V04 vs the V02?

I'm interested in getting the V04 or the V02 with the Thornton blade for floor hockey. There are slight differences between the sticks but a ten dollar difference in price the V04 being more.

    The V02:

    # Rounded shaft corner radius geometry with multi-lam construction

    # 12" taper

    # Fiberglass reinforced blade with vibration dampening DURACORE technology

    The V04:

    # SOLID ASPEN CORE Shaft Molded Fiberglass LAMINATE REINFORCEMENT

    # “C" CONTOURED GEOMETRY

    # 12" TAPER

    # ABS DURA-CORE™ Blade VIBRATION DAMPENING Technology 45° Fiberglass reinforced Blade

    So...

    - What is “C" CONTOURED GEOMETRY? What is rounded shaft corner radius geometry? How do they compare?

    - What is a 12" taper?

PS I know ten bucks isn't a lot but it is when you have a lot of other hockey gear to buy.

  • Composite shafts for street/indoor hockey?

On Fridays I play indoor hockey on a gym like floor (it's very slippery) and the rest of the week i play outdoors on pavement or blacktop and use a wooden Easton Synergy ABS stick. My friend was talking to me about all the benefits composite sticks (he plays ice hockey) have for your performance. I researched composite sticks and found you can buy composite shafts and get ABS blades for the shaft for outdoor play. But my only worry is that the composite shaft won't be able to handle the resistance of the indoor floor or the pavement and will snap. Has anyone ever tried this idea? Did it work? Please give me your truthful thoughts because I don't want to drop all this money on a composite shaft and ABS blade only to have it break quickly.

  • Why don't they sell Kimmo Timonen jerseys?

I was wondering why they don't sell Kimmo Timonen jerseys or any other good background players for the Flyers like Leino, Powe, Hartnell, or Betts. I know you can buy them at the Official Flyer's store at the games but when I'm there I don't have the cash so does anyone know where else to buy them? PS I don't like the customized jerseys because they have pressed on names and numbers.

  • Philadelphia Flyers attending captains?

I was watching videos of the Flyers most recent season and noticed even when there is no injuries they switch around who they give the A's to. It mostly switched between Timmonen and Pronger and Gagne and Carter.

  • Why is the writing for Mission and Warrior similar?

I have an old pair of Mission hockey gloves from when I played roller hockey and while I was watching the Eastern Conference Final I noticed that the writing of Warrior on one of the player's gloves looks the same. After researching I couldn't find anything and I'm wondering... Did Mission buy out Warrior or vice verse? Is Mission Warrior's roller hockey department? Are they owned by the same company? Or is it just a coincidence? Also is there any significant difference between roller hockey and ice hockey gloves?
