  • What would be a good [political] article from the past 2 weeks to write a "frame analysis" paper on?

For one of my courses I have to choose a political article from the past 2 weeks and write a frame analysis (minimum 10 pages) on the article (basically figuring out what kind of frame was used, the implications of the frame/way the story was presented, etc). So I was just wondering if anyone could recommend an article or 2 from the past 2 weeks (has to be political based) that would be good for this type of paper.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Which course sounds most interesting to you?

    Hey,

I'm trying to decide on a course and i'm unsure which I should go with. Option one has a waitlist and i'm #13 for 80 spots. Option 2 has 3 spaces available (so i'm trying to decide quickly). I just wanted to get some opinions on which one sounds the most interesting (I heard the prof for Option 1 is better):

    Option 1:

The course uses tourism as a lens to examine global connections. Particular focus will be on the politics of cultural encounters. Drawing examples from diverse ethnographic materials, the course explores how different visions of the world come into contact, negotiated and transformed, and how tourist encounters shape people's everyday lives.

    Option 2:

An in-depth critical review of foundational ideas in the development of the practice of Anthropology. Topics may include questioning fieldwork, origins and legacies of functionalism, cultural materialism, politics of culture, power and political economy, globalization and post modernism, gender and post-structuralism.

    -Thanks in advance!

  • Need help with an LSAT "Logic Games" style question (i've done 3/4 of it, just need help with 2 questions)?

On one afternoon, Patterson meets individually with each of exactly 5 clients - R, S, T, U and Y - and also goes to the gym by herself for a workout. Patterson's workout and her 5 meetings each start at either 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00. 5:00, or 6:00. The following conditions apply:

    1. Patterson meets with S at some time before her workout

    2. Patterson meets with T at some time after her workout

    3. Patterson meets with Y either immediately before or immediately after her workout.

    4. Patterson meets with U at some time before she meets with R

Question #1: Patterson CANNOT meet with U at which one of the following times: 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, or 5:00?

Question #2: If Patterson meets with T at 4:00, then which of the following must be true:

    a) Patterson meets with R at 5:00

    b) Patterson meets with U at 5:00

    c) Patterson meets with Y at 2:00

    d) Patterson meets with Y at 3:00

    e) Patterson's workout is at 2:00

Thanks to anyone that can help! Any explanation as to your answers would be great as well.

  • What University Program sounds more interesting to you (program descriptions posted in details)...?

Program #1 (Communication, Cultural, Information Technology):

The focus of the CCIT program is on the generation, diffusion, and social impact of new technologies, and how media and technologies interact with commerce, culture and communication. The CCIT program combines academic courses in the arts and social sciences taught at the University of Toronto Mississauga with hands-on applied courses in digital media and technology taught at both UTM and the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, offering an appealing opportunity for students to concurrently obtain both an undergraduate bachelor of arts degree and a Certificate in Digital Communications from Sheridan.

The CCIT curriculum first establishes a foundation of communication theory and then equips students with the technical proficiency and creative project planning skills necessary to translate that theory into practice in a variety of academic and professional applications, from research and instructional technologies to web design and marketing. Experiential learning, in the form of the upper level Internship opportunities, further enhances eligible students understanding of the essential role communication and its technologies play in industry settings. By presenting communication in this range of contexts and allowing for double majors and minors in other programs, the CCIT program gives students a breadth of knowledge that differentiates this program from other communications undergraduate degrees.

    Program #2 (Interactive Digital Media):

Interactive Digital Media (IDM) is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program that is run jointly with the Faculty of Information (commonly known as the iSchool) at the University of Toronto. It provides students with a foundation in the generation, diffusion and critical analysis of the social impact of new and emerging technologies. In addition to learning how to analyze and use a variety of media tools, students will focus on digital media and its information communication infrastructures. Students will learn to design and create digital artefacts and create virtual environments suitable for collaboration, communication, learning and exploration. In the fourth year, students will be required to participate in an experiential learning based project relevant to their core interests.

In addition to the CORE courses, students will be required to take two modules, each module consists of 5 half courses. The modules are designed as integrated sets of courses providing students with the knowledge and skills relevant to specific areas of specialization.

The Knowledge Media Design module is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and skills that are relevant for careers that involve the active and thoughtful design of content for knowledge media. These careers will span a range from traditional journalism through electronic publishing to the creation and management of knowledge media in traditional and digital organizations.

The Immersive Digital Media module is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge for careers involving presentation, analysis, and immersive communication, utilizing data and information obtained from a wide variety of different media sources in a wide variety of formats. These careers span traditional business, web-based business, health care, education, and creative domains including gaming and simulation. Students will also be able to translate their skills and knowledge into performance environments.

    -Thanks in advance!

(I was also wondering if i'd be able to work in the IT field with program #2)?
