How will MarShon Brooks translate into the NBA?
MarShon Brooks is a 6'5 SG from Providence with a 7'1 wingspan, elite scoring ability, and was recently drafted by the Nets. My gut tells me he will be the starting SG sooner rather than later, (Morrow is the only one in his way?) and I think he will put the ball into the basket. What does this team need with Deron Williams? Scoring. What can MarShon Brooks do? Score.
I might be crazy, but I picture this guy getting near 20 PPG this year, maybe 5 RPG, and not much else. He isn't flashy, he doesn't have tons of flair, but this guy can score. He will put the ball into the basket and I think the Nets will need all that they can get this year in terms of scoring. Even if Dwight is brought in, they will still need a player that can score beside the "Big 2." That is where MarShon Brooks steps in. I have trouble believing that many people could guard this guy effectively for 30 minutes a game 1 on 1.
So I ask you, am I crazy to think that this guy will battle Derrick Williams for rookie of the year?
Am I crazy to think that he can score 20 PPG?
Am I crazy to believe the scouts that say he is a Kobe-lite?
1 AnswerBasketball9 years agoHow will the Timberwolves do this year?
I mean they have talent stuffed up and down the roster. Last year we ran the ball up the court and had the highest pace in the league, but rookies Rubio and Williams added in, I think the Wolves will be a more efficient both offensively and defensively.
Predicted Record: 41-41
I really think the Wolves can make it back to .500. They will start off slow, maybe 5-15, but will turn it on late and get a big winning streak to get us to .500
Ricky Rubio
Ricky will be up and down all year, but those ups will be really fun to watch and those downs won't be anything we don't expect, some turnovers and missed shots. He will have many electrifying plays this year, and will be fun to watch all year long.
Prediction? 9 pts 7 ast 5 reb 3 stl per game
Wes Johnson
I think Wesley will be feel the most benefits of anybody thanks to Rick Adelman. Adelman will have Wes playing more of a traditional scoring guard role and nothing resembling that ugly triangle offense we ran last year.
Prediction? 14 pts 4 ast 4 reb 1 stl 1 blk and 2 3pts per game
Michael Beasley
This guy is enigmatic. He is up and down. I love the Beasley who shot about 60% from mid-range, but realistically it dropped and he ended up with an average percentage. I think his scoring will remain about the same, regardless of the incoming Williams, because of Ricky Rubio's impact, Beasley will not have to create for himself as much.
Prediction? 20 pts 2 ast 6 reb per game
Kevin Love
Kevin Love will have trouble repeating his record breaking season last year, but I think he will be able to, ultimately because the Wolves don't have a rebounding Center right now. If we sign Chandler, Hayes, or Jordan, that might change, but he'll be steady.
Prediction? 20 pts 14 reb 2 ast per game 40% from 3pt and 90% from ft
Anthony Randolph
I think a combination of Love and Randolph at Center is our best bet, given the roster we have right now. I do not think Milicic is the answer, offensively or defensively. A lot of the Wolves faithful are pushing for us to get DeAndre Jordan, but if you really think about it, Anthony Randolph has a very similar skill set to Jordan. Both are long, thin, lanky lefties, athletic shot blockers (Jordan has done it, Randolph hasn't exactly, but has shown he is capable), neither is great offensively, both rely on dunks and layups offensively, and Randolph is the better shooter of the two. I think we have the Center we need in Randolph, for at least 20+ minutes a game.
Prediction? 15 pts 7 reb 1 ast 2 blocks 1.5 stl per game
Derrick Williams
This guy will win Rookie of the Year, hands down. He is the most talented rookie in the league. He can shoot, dunk, score, jump, and most importantly, play defense. The only problem is that we already have Beasley and Love at the 3 and 4. Assume Love plays 25 minutes a game at the 4 (the rest as the Center) and Beasley plays 35 minutes a game as the 3 and the 4, that is only 60 minutes, leaving well over 35 minutes a game for Derrick Williams if Rick Adelman thinks he is ready.
Prediction? 18 pts 7 reb 1 block 1 stl 2 ast per game 48% from field 40% from 3pt 80% from ft
Martell Webster
This is my guy. I love him. He can shoot, score, and defend. He has sneaky athleticism that will catch a defense off guard. He is very fun to watch and should be a very serviceable backup SG and third string SF for 20+ minutes a game.
Prediction? 14 pts 4 reb 2 ast and not much else per game 45% from 3pt
Malcolm Lee
This is a fun 6'6 combo guard who is a defensive specialist. Any 6'6 player who can play the point intrigues me because of the mismatches created. Odds are, he'll be that third guard off the bench behind Webster and Ridnour, but he'll lock his man down night in and night out. Some improved shooting to add to his athleticism and inside game will make him okay on offense as well.
Luke Ridnour
Our backup point guard (or starting PG if Rubio isn't ready) is a shooter. He can facilitate, but he is a lights out shooter and that is what he is best at. Him and Malcolm Lee would play well together. On offense, Lee plays point guard and lets Ridnour play a spot up shooter, but on defense Ridnour can guard the shorter PG and Malcolm Lee will guard the 2 guard.
Darko Milicic
I'm not a fan of this guy. I had to watch him shoot (and miss) left hooks all season. It's not fun, not at all. I don't wanna watch him again. His blocks per game average was merely a fluke and will not happen again.
Anthony Tolliver
Good shooting big man who makes all the hustle plays no one notices. He is a janitor, the team is dirty without him, but he doesn't get much credit. I'm a fan. Kevin Love should play close to 40 minutes per game, but I'm fine with Tolliver getting in there whenever Love comes out.
Nikola Pekovic
A bruising big man who is good for 6 fouls a game. That
