Should CCW permit holders be required by law to also carry a less lethal weapon?
If George Zimmerman had pepper spray or a tazer in addition to or instead of a gun, Travon Martin might be alive, and this all could have been resolved peacefully. People who carry guns and are scared of their own shadow tend to only think about using the gun in an emergency. Less lethal weapons can stop unnecessary loss of life.
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police9 years agoWhat's your prefered improvised self defense weapon?
What would you grab in an emergency if you absolutely needed a weapon, and a gun or knife was not an option? The inkpen is my fave. It has the non lethal qualities of a kubaton, but can also be a last resort stabbing weapon; it's legal to carry in high security areas, and you don't need 50 years of training to use it.
8 AnswersMartial Arts9 years agoBellator or UFC...Who had the better show last night?
We all know that the UFC supposedly has all the best fighters in MMA, but the PPV fights were not competitive. Every PPV that I have spent my money on has been a waste, this one included. Compare this to Bellator. The fighters themselves determine the matches. The tournament format, in my opinion, makes for better, more competitive fights. Bellator was more entertaining, more exciting, and to top it off, it was free. The most impressive thing about UFC 135 was Jon Jones performance. What do you guys think?
2 AnswersMartial Arts10 years agoIs anyone here currently doing the Gracie Combatives Course Online?
If so, can you give me a little info on affordability? Is it practical for a 33 year old working man(me) and his 44 year old brother, with no BJJ experience, to undertake this endeavor? I haven't trained in a structured Martial Arts environment in over 10 years, and my brother has not trained since his Army days. There is pretty much no Gracie Jujitsu where I live. I'm not looking to become a competitive fighter, just to expand my self defense repertoire with some ground skills.
7 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoA hypothetical situation for the realists in the Martial Art/ Self defense community.?
You had a late night at work and are the last person to leave the office. You're walking out to your car (the last in the parking lot) when seeminigly out of no where, two armed men jump you, demanding that you get in the car and drive. Realizing (as anyone with common sense would) that if you drive them where they want you to go, they will most likely kill you, do you go for the ride, or attempt to fight what is in all likelyhood a losing battle right then and there, and go out somewhat on your own terms?
11 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoWhat is a "street fight"?
A lot of people come here for advice on street fighting. But what is street fighting, really? Is it two ignorant guys trying to see who has the bigger balls? Is it a contest between 2 guys for money? Is it a fight for your life against someone trying to do you harm? To me, there are three kinds of fight situations: Sport fight, The ego fight, and self-defense. What is your opinion of the "Street Fight"? Let's get some ideas out there, debunk the myths, and show some of the younger members of the martial arts community that they should not look for fights; they should be looking for ways to avoid them.
7 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoNeed suggestions on how to get rid of (sell) my comic collection?
I have about 400-500 comics, ranging in condition from not-so-good to Mint, that need to go A.S.A.P. so I can make room in my house for storage. I just have NO IDEA how to make it happen.
1 AnswerComics & Animation1 decade agoName an MMA fighter (or fighters) you want on your side in a bar room brawl.?

19 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoOkay, which was better: Never Back Down, or Redbelt?
I saw them both. Both movies were in and out of theaters in the blink of an eye. Never Back Down was advertised more heavily, but Redbelt, with it's legit director and more "grown up" themes, was by far the better acted movie. The problem is, I don't think that too many people saw it. Did you? If so, what did you think?
4 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoDoes anyone out there think it would be a good idea for the UFC to sign the Chris Hordecki to a contract ?
Horodecki was the IFL's Golden Child. He has explosive stand up. I'd love to see how he would stack up to Guida, Florian, Edgar, or Sherk. He has the type of fighting style and image that the UFC loves to promote. And he's in his early 20's.
9 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoSo, Andre Arlovsiki is fighting Fedor in October...Anyone think he stands a chance?
I think that if he comes into the fight in the right frame of mind, and isn't intimidated by Fedor, he has the tools to put Fedor in some situations that he's not used to. Will he win? Probably not. But I think he presents a challenge. (of course, I thought that about Tim Sylvia, and we all saw how that ended)

11 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoCan anyone tell me any exercises to enhance my grip strength?
In my line of work, I often have to go "hands on" and restrain irate individuals and psyciatric patients. Despite using several methods (handgrippers, the Gripmaster, fingertip pushups) over the years, I continue to have trouble building and maintaining grip strength...suggestions anyone?
