Life has taught me many things. One of them is to never regret or be bitter about past poor choices, but learn from them and allow them to make you a better person. Do not allow your environment to influence you but allow you to influence your environment. Look at those who have succeeded beyond the little crumbs handed to them in their young lives. To not take your past mistakes and learn from them will destine you to repeating them again. You won't even know the why of it all. That is a crime against you. Learn to laugh at yourself; you will be your best ally. Learn to laugh at life; your stress is less I enjoy sharing what I have learned & enjoy learning from others. I am not shy in being serious but I laugh often. I can see the silver lining & I see the humor in most things
How do you define RESPECT without using the dictionary or using the word itself in the definition?
I discovered as adults, we tend to throw this word loosely in the arena of child rearing on our children. Respect the school, Respect the teacher, Respect older adults, Respect the police man, Respect your aunts and uncles, etc.
However, I think we mean for our children to be polite and courteous and we confuse these words as respect when I feel they are truly separate.
How do you define RESPECT without using the dictionary or using the word itself in the definition?
Can you be courteous without having to yield automatic respect?
1 AnswerOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoHow do you a parent feel about being told you should place your child on Ritalin?
A school system believes your preteen child should be placed on Ritalin or a Schedule II amphetamine drug comparable to it because they believe your child exhibits a form of ADD but it is not showing all of the symptoms of ADD but a possible degree of it by their standards. Your child is bright, but at times can have behavior issues due to boredom. A physician states, "I don't believe your child ADD but emotionally immature which may be conflicting with their high intellect (above IQ average). Your child does not meet the standards of an ADD or ADHD child" In other words, he thinks like an adult, but has the emotional maturity at times of a 5 yr old.
The schools response to your reluctance to "stimulate" the forefront of your child's brain (deemed as the critical thinking region) is your child will remain calmer and you the parent won't have to come to as many meetings.
Does the end justify the means for the purpose of education and the school system's convenience?
