  • I want to become a nurse. What studying should I do before I start my bachelors to BSN course?

I have a BBA in marketing and would like to use an accelerated course to get a BBN. I have had a successful 5 years since graduating and believe I will do very well in nursing and answer my true calling. However, I have another 8 months of projects to complete before I am ready. In this time, what can I do to prepare myself to serve others as a nurse? I'm sure I can find medical terminology flash cards and some anatomy or nutrition to study, but does anyone have a recommendation for books (especially Kindle format) that would help me pursue this goal before I begin my coursework?

  • Why does my Kindle 3 disconnect from USB while transferring files?

When I add files to my Kindle 3, they never make it all the way, 0 to 80% of the file transfers and then the device disappears from My Computer and then reappears. When I open the Kindle up (either standalone or on my pc from the computer), the file is corrupt and unreadable. I can transfer via Whispernet (PDFs cost a fee based upon size) but that's not good for me since I use SO many PDFs (almost all are army manuals from the Army Publishing Directorate).

  • Is promotion to 1LT slowing down?

After at least a few years of Army promotions going 2LT > 1LT in 18 months and 1LT > CPT 18 months later, many people are saying that the promotion to captain is being extended for commissioning dates in fiscal year 2010 and 2011. I'd like to know if the 2LT > 1LT period for me will still be 18 months or if there is a document that I can read to figure this out. All AR 600-8-29 documents I can find on AKO or by Google are dated 2005. If I have to wait an extra 4 months, it's okay, but I'd like to know since it will mean just under $3000 less pay over that time.

  • What does one do (daily duties) in various Army officer branches? (ie Trans QM OR Chemical etc)?

I'm currently in Officer Candidate School (OCS) and am low on the OML for getting my dream branch (Signal).

What do you do on a daily basis as a new butterbar in...

    Quartermaster?

    Transportation?

    Ordnance?

    Chemical?

I appreciate any first-hand experience. Most information online is for one enlisted MOS or another without talking about the commissioned officers at all.
