I am filed 'exempt' on my W-4. Why is my employer withholding money?
I am a college student, and I have been filed 'exempt' on my W-4 for the last three years. I have never had any money withheld because I don't make enough. Why did my employer randomly start withholding taxes from me, without notification, part way through the year? Is that okay for them to do?

3 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years agoDoes anybody know what 24/F means?
My boyfriend has been receiving promiscuous instant messages from someone. They (I believe it is a she) texted him at 6 o'clock this morning. I pretended to be him and asked who it was. She replied with, "I can't believe you don't remember me. 24/F." What does that mean?
3 AnswersSingles & Dating10 years agoShould I break up with my boyfriend?
My boyfriend and I have been dating for about 9 months now. We will both be seniors in college in the fall. I love so much about him, and I would trade the world for him. My dilemma is that I know he has cheated on me in the past. Not physically, but through emails, instant messages, and a skype chat. This happened 4 months ago, but I am still having issues trusting him. He says that he has changed, but I have heard that a cheater is always a cheater. Is it possible for him to have changed, or should I break up with him now to prevent myself from getting even more hurt?
3 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoCheating...Is my boyfriend cheating again? And is a cheater always a cheater?
My boyfriend and I have been dating for about nine months. I am 21 and he is 22, and we go to the same college. In the past, I have only had one serious relationship, which lasted for three and a half years. He on the other hand has had a handful of semi-serious relationships, all lasting less than a year.
From the beginning of our relationship, he told me that I was the one for him. But, about four months into our relationship, I found a Skype conversation he had with another girl while at work. He asked her to take her clothes off for him and give him a show, and told her that he wasn't with anyone. I confronted him about it and he told me that it had just been a joke, and didn't mean a thing. That day he deleted all of the female contacts from his Skype, and a handful from his instant messenger.
Two months later, I discovered he was recieving emails from a girl in France who he once worked at a summer camp with. She sent him all sorts of photos of herself, including one posing in nothing but a towel. Her emails were full of winking faces and x's and o's. He had emailed her telling her that he missed her, and she replied saying that she loved teasing him. Again I confronted him, but he denied the photos, and said that there was no harm talking to her because she was overseas.
Things seemed to go smoothly after that. But, in the past couple weeks, he has been talking with a random girl on AIM on his phone, a lot. He has lied to me and told me that it was his best friend's girlfriend, but unbeknownst to him I know what her screenname is, and that is not it. Lately, he hides his phone whenever it is out, and he has been deleting his conversations with her as if he is hiding something. He showed me that he had removed her as a buddy, but he secretly re-added her thinking I wouldn't notice.
Still he tells me that I am the only girl for him, and has begun talking about marrying me.
Is he cheating? And could he possibly change? I love everything else about him, but I can not look past cheating again. I have been hurt by cheating in the past, and I don't want to have to hurt that much ever again. Part of me feels like if I lose him, I will never find anyone else (I know it's crazy) and another part of me wants to just end it now to prevent myself from the pain. What should I do?
3 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoHow can I help my boyfriend lose weight?
My boyfriend is, well, overweight. He is 5'7" and weighs 260lbs. (Quite a contrast to my 5'2", 110lb self.) He is extremely unhappy with his body, and constantly tells me that he wants to lose weight. I love him, and would like him to lose weight for health reasons, and for the fact that I want him to be happy with himself.
The problem is that he has no motivation. We are both in college, and live on campus where we have free access to a gym and fitness activities. I try to encourage him by buying healthier food and suggesting gym nights. But with my schedule as a student leader, it is hard for me to go with him to the gym often, so instead he finds excuses not to go.
I am a very active person, but he likes sit around, and eats very large meals. As a result, he has gained 20lbs since we met. I am still attracted to him and love him dearly, but this is not healthy.
I know that he really does want to be healthier and lose weight, but I don't know how to help him without becoming his mother.
