  • voyager/caravan 98 sometimes doesn't start?

I have a Plymouth Voyager 1998 van (similar to Dodge caravan). Sometimes when I go to start it, I turn the key in the ignition switch and it sounds like it's starting but then it shuts off automatically. I try again and again and the same thing happens. After the third time, turning the key does nothing. The lights on the dashboard come on fine but the alarm set sign sometimes stays on. There are no clicking noises, the starter is fine. Also, using my key to unlock/lock all the doors when this happens doesn't work - the power locks do not activate and only the driver's door unlocks/locks.

If I leave the van alone for a few hours and then come back, it starts normally. But then after a week the same problem will happen again.

I'm guessing that every time this problem arises, the computer resets and that is why after a few hours the van works normally again. Because none of this happens when my mechanic is around, he's never been able to pinpoint what the problem is.

Things my mechanic has already tried: changing the crank/krink/temperature sensors, checking relay fuses, running computer scan for codes (no codes come up, the "service engine" light has never come on), checked the starter, checked the battery, tune-up.

I tried using only my key to unlock/lock/start the van because my mechanic thought there could be an alarm issue and the remote may be creating a problem. However, even after a week of only using the key, the same thing happened.

Any ideas on what could be the problem, or how to fix the problem when it occurs?

  • please explain this sport description?

My friend wants to sign up for a sport but she (and I) don't understand exactly what this means: "Teams will play one, best of five set, per week."

Does that mean each team will play only one game per week?

  • Possible to load Ubuntu as a program within XP Pro?

I want to be able to run Ubuntu as a program within XP Pro... sort of like any other program that can open in its own window, but I want to be able to switch to and run other XP based programs as well at the same time. How can I do this?

Do you think this is a good idea? why or why not? Will Ubuntu still run as smoothly as it does if it were the only OS installed on the system?

  • From XP to Linux (Xubuntu): what should I know?

I've heard so many great things about Linux and enjoyed the way it worked so smoothly on some school computers that I want to try it out. I've always used Windows, so in order to make the switch to Xubuntu, what should I know? Do I need to know about Linux/codes/etc ? Any beginner's advice out there (in the form of a manual would be great!)

Also, what's better: Xubuntu, Ubuntu, Kubuntu ? (or would you add something else to this list?)

  • why would someone hack my account and send emails to addresses that don't even exist?

I was using my email account and suddenly started noticing that I was getting Mail Failure to Send replies to emails that I never sent out to addresses that apparently don't even exist (otherwise why else would there by mail sent failure replies)..... I quickly changed my password and the problem stopped but I don't get why would someone hack my account and send emails to addresses that don't even exist in the first place.

How can i prevent anyone from hacking my account in the future? It really scared me to see that all my personal information could be so easily destroyed/fraudulently used

  • why the difference in Insurance availability between developing countries vs. industrialized nations?

Why has insurance traditionally been more common in industrialized nations, and why is it uncommon/not possible for people in developing worlds to have insurance? At first I thought it was simply because insurance is not affordable by people in developing countries, but maybe there are other reasons?

  • spyware 2009 still hiding somewhere on my computer?

Yesterday I was on the internet looking at an article and suddenly mcafee popped up and said a trojan had been deleted, and then it did that again after only five seconds. I got suspicious, closed all my files, and ran a mcafee scan of my computer - and the entire time all the weird spyware 2009 pop-ups and prompts to purchase their "anti virus protection" kept coming up as well as several websites. Mcafee froze, so I tried to run malawarebytes on my computer, but spyware 2009 wouldn't let me open anything. I restarted my computer, opened malwarebytes and although i wasn't able to update it i was able to make it scan but even that found no malicious items even though the virus still wasn't letting me open my files and stuff.

i was tired so i shut down my computer and went to bed.

today i'm not getting any spyware problems, nor any pop-ups and i can open all my files. I'm currently running a full scan with mcafee (its working but extremely slowly) and it hasn't found anything wrong.

Should i believe that the virus is gone or could it still be hiding somewhere?

  • How to stay alert while working on the computer?

I don't go on the computer much, but I recently joined this course which has a lot of computer work and I have to write practice tests on the computer too. I can't print out the material (I've tried it doesn't print correctly) or do the practice tests on paper. There's something about sitting at the computer that makes me feel like dozing off.

I take breaks every hour for ten minutes or so, but I can feel my eyes start to get heavy and I just feel like falling asleep about half an hour after I sit down at the computer. I need to stay alert to write these practice tests.

How can improve my "computer stamina" and increase my alertness (especially during my long practice tests) ? Helpful advice would be VERY MUCH appreciated.

    Note:

The computer area is fine. My feet stay on the floor, the computer is level, it doesn't hurt my eyes or anything like that. Theres a window in my room so its ventilated, there's plenty of light. I eat healthy food, I do a lot of walking. Normally I sit while I'm studying anyways, so sitting in one place is not the problem. I get enough sleep too.

  • I need advice on how to stop wasting time!?

putting things off tilll later worked in high school but now i'm in univerisity and even when i try to do things ahead of time i end up wasting time. I like the subjects and everything but i feel i lose valuable time everyday. I plan the night before that "tomorrow i will do this and that" but then tomorrow comes and i end up doing so little, even though it could have easily been done if i had managed my time properly. I start studying but then i a song might pop in my head or some other thoughts and i end up slacking off and doing nothing for an hour. I've also been watching lots of TV lately and when i start i watch for maybe an hour even though i tell myself i'll turn it off after just 15 minutes. I see other students doing much better than me. I could do well if i could just focus and stick to the schedules I make. I need a way to control myself and force myself to stay on track. Please, PLEASE advice is needed. I don't have any medical issues/psychological, attention disorders, etc

  • mcmaster vs univ. of toronto for LIFE SCIENCES???

i live in mississauga, ontario and i've gotten into both mcmaster and university of toronto(st. george and mississauga campus) for life sciences. I really don't know where i want to go. I live like a 10 min commute from UFT's mississauga campus and i would still get the same UFT degree if i were to attend university downtown....

BUT mcmaster seems like a more sane choice because people seem to walk out alive with higher grades....my long term plan includes med school, but if i don't get great grades, then i can kiss med school good-bye.... then again, UFT can offer the tough feel of med school at an early hand and i'll be more challenged....UFT also has an awesome reputation....

does anyone have any personal experience to offer? please keep in mind that I will be commuting - there's no way i can live at rez - and that the mcmaster and dowtown st. george campus of UFT commutes are one hour one way either or....
