How does one get rid of fleas living in the lawn grass?
We have just bought a new house, and moved in. Turns out the lawn is infested with fleas. We have treated all the animals, but they are still infested every time they go out. How does one get rid of them? I have been organic gardening for years, and have not a clue how to handle this one. We just rubbed all the pets down with a cloth sprinkled with lavender, tea tree, and rosemary oil, and it seems to be giving them relief.
When we first got the fleas, we thought it was the bedroom carpet (only carpet in the house) so removed it, fumigated everything, non-organically, I might add, and cleaned the house. We have not seen a flea in the house. The dogs all got treated for fleas, so what is happening, the fleas we see are already dying as they have bitten the dog and this is how the treatment works.
But they are still being reinfested and bitten every time they go out in the yard. How do I get rid of this? preferably without having to fumigate the yard? Does garden lime kill them?
