Unauthorized charges, Visa, settled, now collection agency?
So, I shopped at Target during their security breach. I monitored my credit card, and saw multiple $50 charges from fedex all on a single day. Called my card and disputed it as a charge not authorized by me. Had to send some forms in and write what happened, etc. In the end the I got a letter back saying the company didn't respond back to Visa in time, and so they were crediting back to me the $200.
Now, because fedex didn't get their money from Visa, they apparently sent this 'debt' to a collection agency.
I thought by law I was protected from credit card fraud provided I notify them of the fraud with the given time limit. Not much protection if the company skips the credit card and comes after me directly.
What are my options now?
