  • Transmission Problems?

    I have a 03 Kia Sedona. My torque converter recently went out. I had a local transmission company "fix" the problem. Last monday I got the vehicle back, then friday the transmission dropped out of gear and refused to go into any gear. I have a warranty on the transmission work so I called the shop and they sent a tow truck. The tow got there 2 hours later and the vehicle acted as nothing was wrong. The shop drove it all week and couldn't get the problem to happen again. So, I picked it up yesterday and last night the transmission dropped a gear. So, I waited hour and a half and tried it again. In went in reverse and drive for maybe a block before it dropped gears again. I let it sit overnight and tried this morning to drive it to the shop. Went maybe 4 blocks before the gears dropped out again. When I say dropped out of gear, the vehicle will be in drive moving forwards when the engine will rev and I lose acceleration. It makes a horrible grinding sound when I put into park but only after the problem occurs. The shop is giving me very little answers, which is extremely dissappointing because they came highly reccommended. Any ideas what could be causing it to behave this way?
