  • Is Halo 3 safe to download and install to hard drive?

No doubt many who are Gold members on Xbox Live are going to download the free copy of Halo 3 that is being offered through Xbox Live at the moment. But I'm just wondering, does downloading and installing the game effect the gameplay of Halo 3 whilst playing? And also, does it effect the hard drive in any bad way? As in, does downloading and installing Halo 3 corrupt game saves or gameplay of other games, such as GTA V, which installs part of the game from the first disk onto the hard drive.

I know when the game first came out that Bungie were urging people not to install the game to the hard drive as it caused more harm than good or something. But I'm just wondering if this is still the case through download and install. Wouldn't want to lose any of my saves or have my gameplay of other games screwing up. Any help would be greatly appreciated in assuring me of this before I decide to download and install.

  • Should I buy Far Cry 3 for PC (retail) or wait until it goes on Steam in the UK?

Ok, as of writing, I am able to purchase Far Cry 3 on PC (retail Lost Expeditions version) for a very good price - about £18.99. I've heard good things about the game and would like to play it. But I'm facing a bit of a dilemma. Firstly, I wanted to get it on PC, but would have preferably done so through Steam as I have my entire gaming library there and it's nice to have all my games in one place. HOWEVER, Ubisoft have not made the game available on Steam in the UK yet, and potentially it could be a while for the game to come to Steam. Now Ubisoft have introduced their own digital distribution system - Uplay - and generally, I've only experienced one problem very recently when I went back to play Assassins Creed Revelations. It wiped out my entire completed save from Assassins Creed Revelations and I don't know if the DLC that I bought for it has disappeared too - something to do with the fact that I didn't enable/disable the Cloud Storage option in the settings. So activating DLC through Uplay seems a bit of a risk knowing I've paid for it and not getting it would be dissappointing. So I just want opinions on whether I should buy Far Cry 3 right now and get a good deal, or wait for it to go on Steam later next year and stick by my principles of avoiding the forced Uplay thing. I would favour Steam in this case as it handles all DLC pretty well, and it actually lists the DLC for you.

I understand that I'm going to buy it either way regardless, and this may seem a bit of a stupid question, but it's more a case of going for Steam's version rather than Ubisoft's Uplay version. Also, I just realised that if I were to buy it with Steam, I would end up having to have two systems active anyway, both Steam and Uplay at the same time, but at least I'd know my save games and DLC are safe with Steam rather than Uplay. So yeah, any opinions are welcome.

  • What are injunctions and what is the big debate surrounding them?

As part of my revision for one of my sociology exams, I read a little about injunctions and was thinking if the idea of personal life and politics comes up, I could draw upon relevant debates about injunctions. BUT, as I still can't get my head around the whole debate and why it's causing so much controversy in the UK, I'm wondering if anyone can put in simple layman terms, what injunctions are and why is there a big debate/controversy surrounding them so recently in parliament, newspapers and on televised news.

  • When you dream, and you meet people who you know, do they know you were dreaming about them or viceversa?

I've been having a dream for a while now, and a friend of mine has been appearing in these dreams recently, but in the most bizarre and random of situations - as is typical of dreams. Now, if it matters, this friend is a girl, and I've had a crush on her for some time now, but that is not the issue here. (I'll leave that for another question possibly.) This person has been appearing in my dreams for the past couple of dreams I've had over the past few weeks. Now seeing how I know this person face-to-face, and the last time I met her was some time in January (we still txt and talk on FB now-and-again), is it possible that they know I've been dreaming about them? I mean, if its the subconscious then does that mean that the dream is subjective i.e. only relative to that person's dream. Meaning that one can't do any Inception-style dream sharing lol. But seriously, is it possible on any level at all that another person can feel or sense that you've dreamt about them or viceversa? It just seems weird that you've had a dream about someone, you go and meet them the next day and if feels like you've shared something, but you can't mention exactly what because its a dream. But take this into account also, I've had some bizarre dreams involving some of my favourite celebrities, and I've never met any of them face-to-face, and I would highly doubt if I were to meet any of them, they would know that I dreamt about them. Even still, I would like to hear any opinions on the matter. It would be great hearing if anyone feels the same or has had the same experience.

  • Why does it seem like the Xbox 360 graphics are quite low quality after you've not played it in a while?

Ok, so I bought the new Xbox 360 Slim model with the included 250GB for a very good price, brand new and all. I moved all my stuff from old 360 model to the new one through the data transfer cable fine, and all my DLC and stuff is there. Now I've not played on the 360 since maybe October or November last year, mainly because I've been doing a lot more PC gaming since I bought a new PC in August - playing games like Crysis and Crysis 2 and some of the heavy duty PC games. I wanted to test the ability of the PC, and so decided to see how some of my 360 games compare when played on PC, so I bought Mass Effect 1 and 2; GTA: IV and Batman Arkham Asylum all for PC. Now I know its obvious what many say, that PC gaming without a doubt gives better performance in terms of graphics and speed. So now, (a couple of months later) I've returned to playing some of the same games on 360, and my oh my, there is a huge difference. Mass Effect especially I am particularly surprised by runs more smoother and better on PC. The main striking differences that I am noticing, is that a lot of lines seem jagged and there appears to be a lot of rough edges and textures, such as on buildings and, outlines of characters etc. not just on Mass Effect, but also on Batman: AA - and to a great degree Red Dead Redemption (although this game is not available for PC). Especially GTA:IV, which is one of my favourite looking games on the 360; now it seems like its just extremely low quality with the rough edges and such on the 360. So my question is this, why if I've never been particular about these things before, how come all of a sudden that my perception towards a lot of the graphics in the games I've mentioned seem low quality when played on the 360? I mean i've been playing on my old 360 since 2007 when I bought it, and I've only just got into PC gaming recently - and even then I thought the 360 is still very good in delivering on graphics. Is it due to something to do with the new model Xbox - are they faulty; perhaps my TV - LG M227WD (which I doubt there is a problem with, as this has played my games fine for over a year); maybe the display settings on the 360. I'm not too sure, but I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same after they've not played it in a long time. I'm not trying to troll, and I would appreciate it if there were no fanboy comments. I'm not a fanboy myself, I own all consoles and I enjoy them all the same. So anyone answers would just be helpful in seeing if anyone feels the same way.

  • Do I need to uninstall graphics drivers when upgrading graphics card from the same company?

I'm upgrading from a Nvidia GTX 460 to a GTX 580 tomorrow, and I'm wondering whether I will have to uninstall all graphics card drivers from my PC first, shut-down the PC, replace the graphics card, boot up, then install the new drivers required for the new card. I was wondering whether uninstalling the drivers is necessary when upgrading to the same manufacturer i.e. from Nvidia to Nvidia. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • What graphics card should I upgrade to next?

Bought a pre-made PC a couple of months ago - an Acer M5811 if anyone is interested. Great PC, and I'm having no trouble at all with it. Upgraded the RAM to the max capacity the motherboard would allow, and I upgraded the PSU, and the graphics card to a Nvidia GTX 460. Good graphics card, but I am considering upgrading again. I was thinking of the GTX 580, but its a little pricey at the moment, and seeing how the tech is changing all the time, I was wondering if there were any other good recommendations anyone could make. thanks in advance for any replies, and all answers would be greatly appreciated.

  • How well would this graphics card run with my PC?

I am looking to buy the Ati Radeon HD 6870 1024MB graphics card. I've been reading various tests and reviews, and a lot of them seem to have overclocked their CPUs whilst running the benchmarks and tests, and getting good results. I have an Intel Core i5 750 CPU running at 2.67gHz, and because its a pre-built PC, I dont wish to start overclocking yet. I have 8GB of RAM, and I was wondering if this setup would work well with the 6870 graphics card? Especially if the CPU isnt overclocked.

  • What is the difference between these two graphics cards?

I bought a pre-built PC about a month ago, and the graphics card it came with is an Ati Radeon HD 5750. A fairly good graphics card. However, after looking around a few websites, I am beginning to wonder whether the stock card that it came supplied with, is actually slower than other graphics cards from Sapphire, XFX, Gigabyte etc. So are graphics cards that come with pre-built PCs slower/worse than those that are supplied by the other leading manufacturer's graphics cards?

  • What PSU do I need for my computer?

I bought a pre-built computer a while ago, and I've been modding things on the hardware side of the new pc. I want to upgrade the stock 450W power supply unit, to a 650/750/850W PSU as I am going to buy a new graphics card (the 5970, or another future proof card) in a few months time. However, I am confused as to which form - ATX or SATX - I will need to be buy. How do I find out if the PSU form that my case can fit? I was under the impression that they were all ATX.

  • What is wrong with my internet connection?

Ok here's my problem. I am in the UK, and I am with BT for my phone line, but with 02 for my internet. Recently, my phone line has developed a fault, and wont be fixed by BT for another couple of days. This means I cant make or receive any calls on my landline. BUT, my internet is working fine. I have a desktop computer in the living room, which is hooked up to the internet via the Thompson 02 Wireless Box II, that 02 provided me with. The internet on the desktop computer works fine. However, it is my laptop that I am having trouble with. I use wireless internet for my laptop in my bedroom, and I have an Acer Aspire 5338 laptop. The problem I am having is that the internet is running unusually very very slow - for example, it took around 5 minutes to load a 30 second HD video on Youtube. Up until the landline fault, the internet on my laptop used to work very fast, and used to work even faster than my desktop PC. Also - I don't know whether this makes a difference - I had installed a wireless internet USB dongle on my laptop; it was with 02 and I needed it as I am about to travel and I needed a way to have sure access to the internet whilst on the go. I installed the software which came with the dongle, which was the 02 Connection Manager program, and all the drivers for the dongle.

So basically, could the fact that my landline has a fault be the cause of the problem, or perhaps because I installed the 02 Connection Manager program and the associated drivers be the cause. Or perhaps some form of hardware problem on my laptop? I just want to know what could be the cause. Maybe I should wait until BT have fixed the problem on their end, and see how my laptop is after that, but I would like to know if it is anything else. Any help in dealing with query would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any answers.

  • Can I watch the last ever episode of Lost on Sky Player?

I have signed up for the entertainment package through the Sky Player subscription service, and have just recently noticed, that certain programmes aren't available to watch. for example, I just tuned in to Sky1 now, and The Simpsons was showing, but it came up with a message saying something along the lines of, "This programme is not available on Sky Player." Now the only reason why I signed up for using Sky Player and paying the subscription fee, is because I wanted to watch the final episode of Lost that is being shown at 5am on Monday morning (here in the UK). But I don't want to wake up so early in the morning to find that its not going to be shown. So I'm wondering if anyone can clarify whether it will be actually shown. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. If its of any use, I'm using the service through my Xbox360.

  • What Canon camcorder is better? Canon HFS100 or Canon HFS10?

I've been looking at these Camcorders and would like to buy one of them. I looked at the specs and they are pretty similar. However the HFS10 is more expensive so I am now leaning towards the HFS100. My main use for it would be for creating short films, and hopefully attach some decent audio equipment onto it like microphones and such in the future. If anyone could give me advice, I would be greatful. Thanks in advance for any answers.

  • When will I hear from my chosen Universities through UCAS?

My application was processed on the 14th January. I applied for Film Studies courses, combined with other different subjects - 3 at Manchester University and 2 at Manchester Metropolitan University. I have received no decisions from the Universities on Track on UCAS, and I'm beginning to become slightly worried as to whether this is normal. The last time my Track was updated was the 19th January. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Inglourious Basterds - Question about the line -"You need guns on me for it to be a mexican standoff!"?

Ok, I think this is classic Tarantino, a Nazi-German soldier who knows what a Mexican standoff is. But here's my question. Is it possible that in 1944 that people would know what a Mexican standoff is, let alone a Nazi-German soldier? I know that the film is totally fictitious, but really from what I know about watching films is that the term became popular from the Spaghetti western genre, particularly Sergio Leone in the Dollars trilogy. Just wondering because, although I loved Inglourious Basterds, I am also a huge fan of the Leone western genre, so its something that I've been going over in my head again and again.

The quote in the main header comes from the aftermath of the shootout with Hicox and Hellstrom, and when the only one left standing is the Nazi soldier Wilhelm, and he uses the phrase when Raine says that a Mexican standoff was not the deal they agreed to.
