  • Has anyone won a honeymoon?

Hi, I have a quick question... has anyone registered online for a honeymoon package and actually won? If so, was the package legitimate and were did you win it from?

The reason I ask is because I was out of town this weekend, and while my brother was house-sitting he received a phone call from a woman who told him that I had registered online for a honeymoon package and had won. She left her phone number, name and extension, but she told him that her company would only be in the area for the next week. I haven't received an email notifying me of winning any type of honeymoon and he seemed to think that something was fishy with the call... In addition, she didn't tell him anything else about the trip so I can't look online to see which one it was because I registered for a bunch.

I plan on calling her back tomorrow but I don't want to get my hopes up and it be a scam.

Has anyone else had this happen?

    Thanks! :)

  • Advice for a Wedding Day Diet?

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone had any advice for a wedding day diet? I know that diet and exercise is the most important element, but can anyone suggest a diet plan or an exercise regime that will help me lose 20 pounds before February? My wedding isn't until December of 2010 so I have time to spare, but I wanted to lose the majority of the weight before I go wedding dress shopping because it's easier to keep weight off then to lose it. :)

    Thanks!

P.S. I started yesterday and walked 1 1/2 miles, mowed with a push lawnmower for 30 minutes, and watched my calories.

Today I ate 1/2 of a cucumber and a tablespoon of ranch for lunch with water to drink. I did 30 minutes of cardio right after, and ate a sandwich on wheat bread with turkey, a tablespoon of miracle whip and 2 slices of tomato for dinner with water to drink. Then I walked for 1 hour. I ate a 60 calorie thing of pudding for desert when I got in, and then drank a bottle of water.

Does it sound like I'm on the right path with this?

  • When should I start looking for my wedding dress?

Hey everyone! I have a quick question... my wedding is planned for December 18, 2010 and I was wondering when I should start looking for wedding dresses? I'm planning on losing about 20-30 pounds between now and my wedding so anything you can tell me would help! :)

    Thanks

  • Wedding Reception Food and Drinks?

My fiancé and I are currently planning a winter wonderland wedding on December 18, 2010. Our wedding will be exactly one week from Christmas and we live in East Texas so it’s never extremely snowy/cold outside-- sometimes, but not frequently. My question is do you think it would be a bad thing for us to serve hot chocolate, apple cider, and coffee at our reception instead of punch? We’re not having a sit down dinner… rather we plan on having a desert table with gingerbread men, white chocolate pretzels, our wedding cake, snow flake shaped cookies, and candy… a table with vegetable platters and little sandwiches, and a table with fruit platters. All the weddings I’ve ever been to have served punch, but I was thinking that hot chocolate, cider, and coffee were a good alternative with the Christmas atmosphere.

Do you think that’s a good idea?

  • pregnancy symptoms or just being paranoid (any advice is welcome)?

My fiancé and I have been engaged for 8 months, and though we aren’t planning on getting married for another year, I think I may have conceived either the Thursday before last, or that weekend. I’ve been on Yaz birth control for a year, and have never missed a pill but I have taken a pill 5 or 6 hours after I should have, and don’t take it at the same time every day. I know that birth control pills are supposed to be 99% effective, but I started having some weird things happen with my body so I looked up Yaz and there have been reports of many girls getting pregnant while on this pill (even with perfect usage).

Usually I wouldn’t post a question like this, but as I stated earlier my body has started doing so abnormal things. The Sunday of the weekend in which I think I conceived, my face broke out very badly and remained that way until Wednesday, I’ve had frequent heartburn since last Tuesday which generally lasts from the time I go to sleep until 2 or 3 pm the next day and that causes me to be slightly nauseas (I haven’t vomited though), and in addition I have also been experiencing a very upset stomach; my face cleared up slightly this past Saturday, but that night when I got ready to sleep I started cramping a little and I woke up on Sunday with menstrual like cramps in my pelvic region/lower back which persisted until yesterday night but weren’t as heavy today. I know that’s generally just a sign of PMS, but I haven’t had cramps until the last day I start my period since I’ve started on birth control. That said, I shouldn’t be cramping until Saturday or Sunday. I looked up Implantation Cramping/Bleeding but I haven’t been spotting so I’m not sure if that’s what it is. Also, I find myself getting full quicker at meals but have become increasingly hungry for snacks throughout the day.

I would like to state that I’m 21 and will be graduating from college with my B.S. in May, so I’m not an adolescent lol… I’m just slightly worried because though my fiancé and I want children some day, this isn’t quite the timing that we expected. :)

    Thank you!

  • Pregnancy while on Yaz?

My fiancé and I have been engaged for 8 months, and though we aren't planning on getting married for another year or so I think I may have recently conceived. It’s not at all a planned pregnancy, I’ve been on Yaz birth control for a year next month, but I’m really worried that I may be pregnant. That said I have two questions…

    1. Is it possible that I could be feeling symptoms before a missed period? Today when I woke up my abdomen was sore--almost cramping-- but I haven't had PMS since I've been on the pill, I've been having heartburn every morning which usually lasts and makes me nauseous generally until 2 or 3 the next day, I’m tired all the time, I’ve been eating a lot more then I normally do, I’ve been urinating more frequently, my face unusually broke out a few days after the day I think I may have conceived on, I’ve been really gassy (especially at night) the last couple of days and my stomach has been really upset, and today I only ate half a sandwich for dinner and though I didn’t feel full, my stomach felt like it was full. . Plus, I have this bogged down feeling like something just isn’t right with me but I don’t know what it is. Maybe I’m just being paranoid… because my period won’t be here until next Saturday.

    2. When I first started thinking that I could possibly be pregnant I looked online to see if there were any reports of people getting pregnant while on Yaz and many people have reported getting pregnant though they used the BC faithfully and correctly. So, my question is does anyone know firsthand someone who has gotten pregnant while on Yaz?

I apologize for asking this question and for the length of it, because I see questions like these all of the time. I’m just worried because I would have conceived during the time I was ovulating, I’m 21 and graduating from college in May, and this isn’t quite the timing that my fiancé and I had in mind to start having kids. :)

    Thanks!

  • Wedding Date Opinions?

My fiancé and I got engaged in March of this year and are planning on setting a date this summer for our wedding. We plan on having a long engagement due to being at separate colleges, and the fact that I won’t be able to move down there until I graduate this December. Before we got engaged we had discussed tentative date options, and we both agreed that we really wanted to get married in the fall… preferably October. However, I’ve really been thinking about it and I think that though I would love to marry in October, time just won’t be on our side to do it in that month. I’ve tried to figure out every possible way that we could make it in October, but we plan on marrying close to where both of our families live and that’s nearly 10 hours from where we’ll be living. In addition to us living so far from where the wedding will be held, the majority of our friends live 10 hours from the area as well which is going to make it complicated because they are in college and it would be difficult for them to fly down or drive somewhere that far to only be there a day or two and then go home. My Matron of Honor is one of those friends who lives far away (her son will be our ring bearer), and I want her at my wedding without it being a pain in the rear for her to get there.

My question is has anyone had a wedding in October that was a long distance from where they live? If so, how did you deal with time issues and getting everyone to the wedding location without it being a hassle?

    Thanks so much! =)

  • How long after he asked your parents...?

Hi! I have a quick question for all of you married/engaged ladies or men out there. My boyfriend of a year and a half and I are probably going to be getting engaged soon. He already has a ring picked out and is planning on talking to my brother and mother, next week, about proposing to me. My father passed away last year, so he thought it would be good to talk to my brother too (we're extremely close, and him and my bro. are also friends).

My question is...how long after your husband/Fi asked your parents to marry you, did they propose? Or, if you're a guy and would like to answer... how long after you asked her parents did you propose?

    Thanks so much! =)

  • Why are people so judgmental of young marriages?

My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and a half, and are going to be getting engaged pretty soon. I’m 20 years old and he’s 19, but we’re both in college and I’ll be graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in December. We are very much in love, we’re best friends, and we’re on the same page as far as what we want in life. We’ve had extremely thorough conversations about finances, kids, where we’ll live, and how we’ll raise our children—we’ve discussed every aspect of being married, and we know what we want. My family loves him like he was their own, and vice-versa. We’ve also mutually decided to wait a couple of years to actually get married, that way he can be out of college and I can get my Master’s Degree. We’re honestly not like many young couples.

However, many of the people that I work with are extremely skeptical of me getting engaged at 20. They don’t care that I’m not getting married till I’m 22. It just really upsets me because they don’t know anything about mine and my boyfriend’s relationship; they’re merely passing judgment on the fact that I’m 20. I’m an adult for crying out loud. However, they think that I am completely idiotic for wanting to be married young. Everyone feels as if I should wait until my mid-late twenties to tie the knot.

I know I just ranted a little bit, but can someone please tell me why people are so judgmental of young marriages? I can understand it if I wasn’t an adult and had no idea what I want in my life, but I do. Also, does anyone have advice for dealing with these people?

Thank you so much for reading all of this. =)

  • Question about Engagement Ring Shopping?

My boyfriend and I will be getting engaged soon, and he’s asked me to go with him to look at rings next Saturday. I’m completely thrilled and ecstatic about going with him, but the only thing I’m worried about is finding a ring that is way too expensive. We’re both in college, I’ll be finished in a year and he’ll be done in two years… but with the cost of tuition and other bills, we’re both a little tied on money. My biggest concern is that he’ll feel obligated to buy me an expensive ring, but honestly a ring is just an object. It’s what is behind the ring that matters… but I know that he’s worried he’ll get me something that isn’t good enough or that I won’t like-- despite me letting him know that I love him and will love whatever he gets.

So, my question is… how do I make sure that the ring I pick out isn’t too expensive? I don’t want to ask him for his budget because I think that’s a little rude. However, I don’t want to find this gorgeous ring and him see how much I like it, and then after the fact feel like he has to buy something that is way out of his budget, solely because I love it.

What do I do? I’ve looked at different jewelry sites to see roughly what kind of rings I like and the price range that they fall in. Is there anymore that I could do?

    Thank you so much!

  • Websites with Engagement Rings?

Hi! I posted a question on here earlier in regards to going with my boyfriend to look at engagement rings. I'm a bit worried that he'll feel pressured to buy something that we can't afford right now... but he's pretty adamant about me going with him to look. Due to the fact that I'm afraid he'll spend too much, I decided that rather then going with him I could just find some pictures of rings online that I like and email those to him. I already know my ring size... so getting sized isn't a problem.

His main thing is that he wants me to show him what kind of rings that I like so he'll be sure that I like what he gets. I've told him that I'm sure I'll love whatever he picks out because it's not the ring that's important, it's the meaning behind it... but he's stubborn. lol.

So, some of y'all suggested the picture thing and hey... what better visualization then something he can print out and bring with him right? =) With that being said, my question is does anyone have websites with engagement rings on them? I've looked at The Knot.com, Zales, Gordon's, Blue Nile, Kay Jewelers, Helzburg Diamonds and Samuel's Jewelers...are there any others?

Sorry this is so long... but I have one more question, how do I go about telling him that I would feel more comfortable just finding some rings online and sending the pics to him? That way whenever he goes to get the ring, I won't even have an idea that he's been to a store. And... that prevents any budget worries because he'll be able to pick a ring from the pile I've chosen and get it in his budget.

We're not going to get engaged until the summer... but he's stated that he'll soon start looking for rings.

    Thanks so much!

  • Engagement Ring Shopping... Suggestions? ?

My boyfriend and I are planning on getting engaged this summer, and he’s recently started shopping for rings. He’s asked me what style I like… (stone, gold/platinum, etc.) and recently stated that he wants me to go with him to look. I’m super excited about everything, but the one thing that worries me is that I’ll pick out a ring that’s way too expensive for him. Personally, he could give me a ring out of a bubble gum box and I’d be happy… but he’s kind of worried that he’ll pick out something I don’t like. =) I’ve told him time and time again that if it’s from him, I’m going to love it… but it’s something I’ll have for the rest of my life and he’s pretty adamant about me going with him so he’ll have some visual ideas about what to get. So my question is what do I do if I accidentally show him a ring that’s way too much? We’re both in college; we’ll be done in 2010, but because of tuition, car payments and other various bills that I know he pays… I don’t want him to feel pressured into buying me something he can’t afford.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Clues that he's going to propose? What do you think?

Hi! Okay, my question is did your husband/finance give you any clues (besides the ring) that he was going to propose? Were there any changes in his actions?

The reason I ask this is because I have a pretty good feeling that my boyfriend is proposing for Christmas. I’m not sure, but he’s been giving me clues for my Christmas present and maybe I’m looking to deeply into this, but it seems as if that’s what he’s planning. For example, he’s said that my present is BIG and that he doesn’t know how he’s going to fit it into the doorway. On the other hand, he told me the packaging is very misleading and that he wraps all his presents different. He’s had my gift since October, and his mother, sister, grandma, step-dad, and uncle (his close relatives) all know what it is. He has said that everyone who has seen it, thinks I’m going to love it, and that he knows he did well. Also, the other day we were on the phone and were discussing our plans for Christmas. I asked if I would we were going to meet up sometime that day and he said “of course, I can’t not see my fiancée on Christmas.” It caught me off guard and I asked him to repeat what he said... lol. He’s asked me before if I was going to marry him in the future and I’ve told him yes, so he knows I wouldn’t turn him down. Plus, he’s told me before that we’re practically engaged… he did say that he would do the getting on one knee with a ring though. He just didn’t tell me when.

Lately we’ve also started looking into getting apartments and we’ve been talking about getting engaged/married for almost six months. We’ve discussed having a 1 1/2 – 2 year engagement so that I can graduate college first, and have also talked about future plans, kids, how old we want to be when we have children, what we’ll name them, how many we want, who will be the disciplinarian, who’s going to work, how we’ll budget… etc. –pretty much all of the ‘important’ conversations. Our relationship is awesome, and he’s my best friend and the man that I want to be with for the rest of my life.

What do you think? Am I reading too much into this or could he possibly be proposing for Christmas?

  • Engagement Ring Dilemma... help?

Okay, my boyfriend and I have been together for a year (we were really good friends for six months before we actually started dating), but we've been talking about getting engaged/married for awhile now. He recently told me that he was planning on proposing before the end of the summer, more than likely by the end of next semester, and I’m extremely excited! I love him and everything is good and well, but I just have one slight problem.

My father passed away at the beginning of the year, and about three months ago my mother mentioned to me that there is a small engagement ring my dad left me that he gave to my her when they got engaged. Until August mom had never mentioned anything to me about it, so when she told me that it caught me slightly off guard. I have seen the ring and though it is lovely, it’s just not the type of ring that I would like for myself. For example, my mother’s ring is a Marquise cut diamond and I like the more square/rectangular cut. Mom’s ring is vintage and I like the more modern design. Mom’s ring is in gold and I like silver. I know that this may sound extremely selfish of me but it’s the truth.

Also, I want my boyfriend to be able to pick out my engagement ring himself. My father picked out the engagement ring he gave to my mother and that’s what made my mother’s ring so special to her—I want that same feeling with my own engagement ring. I want to know that my boyfriend was able to pick out something from his heart whether it be a ring that I love or hate. If it’s from him then I know I’m going to be happy.

How do I talk about this with my mom? She’s so adamant about my boyfriend proposing with this ring, but I don’t know what to do.

Again, I know this may sound extremely selfish but I love both my mom and my dad—I just want to be happy too. :)

  • Engagement ring question :)?

My boyfriend and I have been together for a year (we were really good friends for six months before we actually started dating), but we've been talking about getting engaged/married for awhile now. Recently he told me that he was planning to propose before the end of the summer, probably closer to the end of next semester, and I got to thinking about something that has never dawned on me before. How in the world is he going to know my ring size? lol... it's kind of a funny question if you think about it, but I really don't know how he could possibly know.

So my question for you is when you got engaged did your ring fit? :) If it did then how did your boyfriend know what size you wore? Did he just come out and ask what size ring you wear, or did he ask a relative or friend?

  • Engagement Time Period?

    Hi!

I was wondering how long you were engaged before you got married to your hubby/wife. :)

My boyfriend and I have been talking about marriage for awhile, and the other day he told me that he had been planning on proposing next Christmas. However he was thinking about it and decided to move the proposal up, so now he's planning on proposing before the summer.

We're both in college, and I'll be done in the Spring of '10, so we for sure won't get married until after I graduate. (We're at separate colleges because he got a full scholarship at a different school then mine.)

We've talked about getting married in October of 2010, so let's say if we get engaged in June and don't get married until then we're going to have about a year and a half engagement. Is that too long? We'll have been dating/together for almost 3 years and it'll give us awhile to plan a wedding and save for it. Plus by then I'll be 22 and he'll be 21.

What do you think? Does that sound like a reasonable engagement period?

Hi and Happy Belated Thanksgiving to all!

Okay so basically my question is pretty simple... how old were you when you got engaged to your hubby/wife, and how long were you two engaged before you got married? :)

  • what would be causing this? any thoughts :)?

My boyfriend of over a year, and myself had unprotected sex (stupid, I know) on October 26th. I'm 20 and was a virgin until then, so i wasn't on birth control or anything like that when we had sex. I did go to the GYN to get birth control on the 28th, and told her what had happened, and that I was already late for my period when we had sex. I took a pregnancy blood test that day, but it came back negative which is normal because it was only three days after. She told me that if i didn't get my period by the end of that week to take a test, but I got my period on the 29th and it lasted for about 4-5 days. The first three were normal flow, and the last couple of days there wasn't hardly anything.

I started Yaz birth control on the 2nd of November which was the sunday after, and hadn't really been having any problems with it. About a 1-2 weeks ago though, I started getting really nauseous throughout the day, having headaches, cravings, back aches, abdomen pain, cramping in my legs, light headedness, and extreme fatigue (i normally stayed up until about 1:00-2:00 in the morning but now i'm in bed by 10:30). Also, i eat A LOT. I've never had a big appetite and normally end up sharing half of my food because I get so full, but i have been eating everything! and, i'll randomly crave something and that's all i'll be able to think about until i get it. I've never done that either.

Again, I'm 20 years old so i'm not a little kid or anything and my boyfriend and I are both in college (I've only got a year left... he has 2 years but he'll be graduating with 2 majors). It wouldn't be HORRIBLE if we had a kid, but we both just wanted to wait longer. =)

so my question is, would this just be from the birth control or could it possibly be pregnancy symptoms?
