Help for a family member who doesn't want it?
You know how they have Extreme Make Over....well I was wondering if there is anything like that for people instead of homes. Here is the situation, my mother has no self esteem, is jobless, homeless (I tried letting her live here, she refused to get rid of her dog that peed all over the house), she has had a terrible life with a lot of tragedy (which she has never dealt with) and she lies pathologically. The story goes so much deeper that I could never cover it all here, but my heart just aches for her! All of the family wants to help her, but she is beyond our help and keeps getting worse. Can someone please give me an idea where to go or what to do?

1 AnswerOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoCan Hypothyroidism go away?
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism during an ER visit, I had been under extreme stress for a couple weeks. My family doc then ran extra tests and put me on synthroid.
After a couple of weeks, I was feeling horrible on the synthroid so I stopped it. Doc has taken the blood tests several times since then and the thyroid levels are normal. (9 months later so I know the synthroid is not still in my system)
Everything I read on line says that once you have hypo, you always have hypo. But that is not true for me, can anyone please explain? By the way my tsh was 18 for the er tests and for the two following tests that my doc ran. (4 weeks apart)
Can stress cause hypo? One more thing, I have pretty bad reflux/hiatal hernia....can the acid in my throat have any effect on the thyroid?
3 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoHow do you report a doctor and would you do it?
Some one please help....my husband is addicted to prescription vicodin, codeine and librium. He has this doctor (as do many other people in this small town) that will just write a script for anything that you want. I'm not saying he is the cause of my husbands addiction but he certainly does not help! My husband is capable of making his own choices. I think the main problem is that my heart is just broken. My husband needs help and just doesn't see a problem. My marriage is being torn apart, I hate watching my husband kill himself. So my thought is that if I can stop the prescriptions at the source maybe it will make a difference. This doctor is doing this to so many other families, there are 3 other people in my family alone who get a monthly supply (increasing dose) of vicodin off of him. Some one please give me advice I don't know where to turn!
12 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoHusband has a prescription problem! Help?!?
First I need to state that I love my husband very much. He is a fantastic father to our two children. The problem I have is that he is addicted to prescription pain meds. We have this doctor in our town who is basically just a pill pusher. My husband (and his brother) see him once a month and get a narcotics prescription just by walking through the door. His brother is another problem they often "supply" each other when one is running low. Now in his defense he does have disc problems in his neck and back, but his prescription never lasts him the month. He is not an abusive person, he does not drink alcohol, and he never seems "out of it". When I confront him he gets defensive and says there's not a problem, but I have caught him lying to me about the pills. He says he lies because he doesn't want to hear my preaching and I'm making a bigger deal out of it than it is. I don't want to leave him, but I don't know what else to do...can some one please help me..I'm heartbroken!
5 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoAnyone know any good homeschooling groups in PA?
We lean more toward unschooling in our home and it seems all the groups available in our area have pretty strict rules to follow. That's just not us! Any help would be appreciated.
2 AnswersHome Schooling1 decade agoPlease help! I am a 5'3'' female and only weigh 97 lbs. I really want to weigh around 112.?
Never weighed that much in my life even through 2 pregnancies. Can anyone give me any advice on gaining weight in a healthy manner? The big problem is that I am allergic to milk, so there goes a lot of high calorie foods I can't have. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoCan anyone give me a diagnosis? Help!?
I've been to numerous doctors and had numerous tests including thyroid, lupus, dermatology tests, etc. No one has an answer for me. Here are my symptoms: I get episodes where my face (around my mouth, cheeks, eyebrows) will get a tingling feeling, in a few minutes it flares up red and I get like blotches. I have lost almost 50% of my eyebrows, and they do not grow back. The only thing that showed up abnormal was one of my kidney blood test was a little high. Any help, hope, thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The doctors have no clue.
10 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoHow do you change the ringtone on a Panasonic kx tg cordless phone?
My grandmother has one and called me to ask how to change it, she dropped it and hit a button. Can't find anything on the internet. Anyone have one? She said it's only 1 button you push.
3 AnswersLand Phones1 decade agoCan a grandfather take back a monetary gift?
Ok, here's the story...my father died earlier this year and his retirement account named my 88 year old grandfather as the beneficiary. Since the beginning he has promised me half of the money, and now since he got the check the total has come down to 85,000 (enough to pay off my house). Anyway, I got the check and deposited it in my bank and all of a sudden he wants the money back. It is already in my account and processed, what could he legally do to get the money back?
