My boyfriend wants me to give up my hobbies?
I have only been with him since August last year. But my boyfriend wants me to give up Girl Guides, which I have been in for 15 years. He was angry before and after I went to a conference recently in Brisbane saying that I was being self centred. He sees it as pointless. But does not see it that he volunteers with a different organisation as pointless. I already organise my 'trips' with guides around university so they don't clash with assessments etc. He got even more angry when I talked about applying for an 8 day Jamboree in Finland that you have to go through interviews for, and is during my uni holidays, and I planned on paying for it myself whether through my own money or fundraising. He couldn't even organise going to Taronga zoo by himself. I just don't know why I should give up my friends and passions because he thinks it is a waste of money.
4 AnswersSingles & Dating6 years agoWould you continue with this Chinese guy or not?
I have only known him for a few days. At first we were getting along well and the communication was great. I always knew from the beginning that there would be cultural difficulties (I don't know if they are the right words but you get what I mean). But I figured they would either be sorted at the time or over time. Like one example was when he asked me whether there were any metaphorical leaves he needed to sweep for me. He told me a story about how in very ancient China a male suitor would his hut next to the female he liked. That the male would sweep her path everyday and she would provide refreshments. By the years end a decision would made if a rejection would be given etc. I felt stupid trying to think of something to resemble as metaphorical leaves because I have lived on my own almost all of my adult life. What would you choose?
Then I was just answering his questions and he wrote that he felt that he was speaking to a wall. Email doesn't normally have much emotion, you move on to other media if you want emotion. We live a fair distance away as well.
I do like the intellectual conversations about book that other people haven't read and other topics
I don't like some of what would considered rude comments (But then some of the things I have said to him might be considered rude)
6 AnswersPolls & Surveys7 years agoWhere to travel next?
I recently travelled solo around Italy for 2 weeks (Rome, Pompeii, Pisa, Florence, Venice). I won't be able to travel overseas again until about 2016/17. But still I am thinking where to go to next. I was originally going to go to Egypt but my tour got cancelled due to the civil unrest. Some places I am considering are Iceland, China (mostly around Beijing), Greece, Arizona, France, New Zealand, Petra in Jordan. I am open to suggestions. I live in Australia by the way.
5 AnswersOther - Destinations7 years agoHousewarming gift for friend?
I have been invited to a housewarming party that is going to be held in June. I'm also going to Egypt in April. I know that most people will probably bring alcohol, food platters, gift baskets etc. I was thinking of getting something while I am in Egypt. I am also stopping in Singapore (6 hours). Or should I just stick with simple? What do you think?
5 AnswersEtiquette7 years agoGuys who flirt alot online?
So I went on eharmony yesterday (i'm doing it for fun really, if I get nothing out of it I don't care) and one of the guys who messaged me saying they wanted to skip the icebreakers and go straight to eHmail (basically just private messaging) he was really flirty in his first message.
I'm thinking about blocking him. But do you think I should give it a few more days? A guy that is too flirty is kinda a major turn off for me. What would you do?
4 AnswersSingles & Dating7 years agowhat is the best way to remove stamps from a padded bag?
I got some mail sent in a padded bag and I want to try and remove the stamps. The person who sent it to me obviously reused the bag because they stuck a piece of paper over the area you usually write the address and stuck some stamps on it. Underneath the bit of paper was the sender's address and more stamps. They are all 'Lick & Stick' stamps. Some from 1981. What is the best way to remove them?
3 AnswersHobbies & Crafts7 years agoHow to store decorated envelopes?
I received a letter in the mail today that had a coin I bought off ebay in it. The envelope has on it "America's Cup Triumph 1983", a picture of some sailors in a yacht and a 30c stamp (we normally use 60c stamps now) with the America's Cup and Australian Flag. The picture and stamp have been printed on. I just thought it was an interesting envelope, it probably isn't/won't be worth anything. But how should I store it? Can you keep postcards in a similar way?
3 AnswersHobbies & Crafts7 years agoHow much spending money should I take on my Contiki tour to Egypt next year?
I have already put aside the money I need for the Optional Extras I want to do (which is about 100 USD). I am just trying to decide how much spending money I should take. I am thinking about taking $400 (AUS Dollars) split into 1000 Egyptian pounds, 100-300 AED for when I stop at Dubai. Does this sound like a reasonable amount?
4 AnswersEgypt8 years agoWhat to give someone who invited me to stay in their guest room overnight while I was at an interstate event?
I don't really know what to give them as a thank you gift. I didn't know them before I went to the event either.

13 AnswersPolls & Surveys8 years agoHow to find someone who is not in the telephone book and is not on facebook?
You don't have their have their phone number (though I did have their mobile number at one point because I have called them. It's not in any of my emails, I have looked ( I might have to check my storage boxes through my Guide stuff). I knew this person through Girl Guides. I also know what suburb she lives in, but not what street. She is retired now. The thing that worries me is that she has a history of heart attack and she has no brothers or sisters (she was an only child) and both of her parents are dead. She was never married and has no children. So technically her next of kin can only be a neighbour, close friend or a hired guardian (something along those lines). Whenever I type in her name on Google it comes up with previous positions, but email, residential address and phone number have been kept extremely private. How can I try and contact her without doing anything illegal?

3 AnswersPolls & Surveys8 years agohow can I make guy ropes for my tent more visable in the dark.?
I am going to a conference next week and a few of us will be sleeping in tents instead of sleeping indoors. Hey it's a Girl Guide conference, we like camping. Well anyway, i'm just wondering how can I make the guy ropes and pegs more visable. The guys aren't black but it is still difficult to see white guys in the dark. We tried fluro pink ribbon at a jamboree last month and it made a big difference during the day, but next to no difference at night. What have you tried that has worked?
8 AnswersPolls & Surveys8 years agoHave you ever noticed that the deli meats (like salami) look less processed than other meat at Subway?
like the steak, schnitzels and stuff like that. I didn't even know what the cubed steak was when the person was making someone else's sandwich.
3 AnswersPolls & Surveys8 years agoWhy does Northanger Abbey keep asking how many African Nazis there are?

2 AnswersPolls & Surveys8 years agoThat awkward moment when?
I've had my hair cut short for a couple of weeks now. But today was the first time ever that anyone has called me 'sir', long hair or short. It was kinda weird. I actually had to tell the guy i'm female.
Last week I ended up flicking part of my lunch near a hot guy's foot as I was trying to get my fork out.
What are some awkward moments for you?
10 AnswersPolls & Surveys8 years agoHow to wash a camp mat that is filthy dirty if you don't have a hose to clean it?
It's a bit like a yoga mat. I'm taking it to another camp on January 6. I know it will just get dirty again, but someone has moved it so that now that if I touched 1 side it looks like I put my hand in ash. It is summer here and very warm, so it will dry quickly. I just need to figure out a way to at least rinse it.
