I am thinking about getting laser hair removal for my underarms...is it worth it?
I have dark hair that I need to shave every day (especially in the summer), and I was thinking that laser hair removal might be worth it. Especially since I have sensitive underarms and shaving every day irritates it. I've looked into cost and can probably afford it (since the treatments are at least two months apart, and between $50-$150 per treatment). I'm just tired of shaving every day and still being left with a dark shadow, so it looks like I have stubble even when I don't. Opinions? Tips? Preferably from people who have had it done.
I've done the research, I know it's not completely painless (despite what gimmicky websites say), but I have a very high pain tolerance and I don't think it's that bad. This is not a factor in my decision: only results.
2 AnswersOther - Skin & Body10 years agoCheck engine light came on, slow to accelerate, and shakes when I try to go over 60mph?
I have a 1996 Buick Century. About three years ago, I basically had to do a major engine overhaul, replacing the headgaskets, head, intake manifold....you name it. Thankfully I had a friend who is a mechanic and he did the whole thing without charging me a dime, only cost for the parts. Anyway, about a year after that, one of my six cylinders starts misfiring, which was causing similar problems to what happened today. Acceleration was not up to par, and the engine would rattle. We fixed that.
This time feels worse...do you think a cylinder is misfiring again? My friend no longer has any time to work on my car, so I would have to bring it in to the shop (they're reasonable, but it's still obviously expensive).
Is it time to get a new car? (Not that I can afford it...haha)
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHas anyone ever tried Teavana's Shape-Up tea blend?
I am trying to drop a few pounds. I drink tea all day long, between 4-8 cups a day. I work full-time and have several other commitments, and am not able to get to the gym more than once or twice a week, if that. Lately I've been hooked on Teavana's teas, and I saw this tea blend on the website. It's a hefty $50 per 2 oz, but all of the reviews say it's a delicious tea and that it really does help. I figure since I'm already dropping some dough on tea, why not try something like this?
So I was wondering if anyone else has tried it. I know sometimes reviews can be edited or things like that, so I wanted real-people feedback. Thanks!
7 AnswersNon-Alcoholic Drinks1 decade agoWhat's involved in making a dynamic PDF?
At work we either snail mail or email documents to clients that they need to fill out and fax or email back...well today I got a request for a PDF that he can fill out electronically instead of printing and writing by hand. So I'm wondering (since I've never done it), what's involved in creating a dynamic PDF that clients can fill out electronically? Is it expensive? Complicated?
Thanks!
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoWhat's the most effective oral hygiene routine?
One of my new years resolutions has been to take better care of my cavity-prone teeth. I Recently cut out soda from my diet and I now drink only black coffee (no sugar), so that's been a big help. I also vowed to floss more regularly (which is easy enough, considering I used to only floss once a week at most).
So what I've been doing is flossing, then brushing, then rinsing with Act. Is this the best way to do it? Or is it better to brush first? Rinse? I was thinking about this as I was brushing my teeth a few minutes ago and wondered if the order of things made a difference or not.
Might seem silly, but I'm interested :)
4 AnswersDental1 decade agoHow do I change the date of a scheduled payment on the Sallie Mae website?
I can't find it anywhere...I'm fairly certain that I scheduled a payment for next month the day after I get paid, but I wanted to change it to sooner to avoid late fees. But I can't seem to find my scheduled payment anywhere (it's not automatic, I just told it when to post the payment). Can anyone help me out?
1 AnswerCredit1 decade agoQuestion about in-car jumpstarters?
It has been below 0 the past several nights and my car wouldn't turn over yesterday before church. It's a 15 year old car, so it has some minor issues, one of which is that the switch to pop the hood is broken. I have a pair of vicegrips that I attached to the wires and that's been working just fine for the past year or so (I just never got around to fixing it), but as a result, I wasn't able to pop the hood in order to jumpstart it. The hood may have been frozen shut, I'm not sure. But anyway, it was -3 degrees out, and I couldn't get under my hood, with a dead battery. I looked online, and saw that there are in-car jumpstarters that I could buy for around $25, by hooking into the cigarette lighters. There were two different ones...one that has a small battery and charges itself, or one that I can connect to another car's cig lighter. My dad happened to have one that plugs into a wall socket, but that's not really convenient say, in the middle of a parking lot. It worked well enough for it's purposes, though I had to leave it in overnight.
My questions are, do these work well enough to jump a car in sub-zero temperatures? I don't believe my battery was really, super dead, just too low and cold to turn over. How long do they take to charge a battery enough to work? I don't mind waiting an hour or so, but not much longer...my work is flexible, but not THAT flexible. What type is better? What brands?
Any help at all would be great, I would just like to avoid something like this in the future and it seems like a convenient thing to keep in my car. Thanks!
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoQuestion about tax returns...how much should I expect back?
I started a job at the beginning of October. I get paid a salary of 27,000 a year to start (I got a raise since then, but it was after the 1st of the year). A friend of mine said that I would get a good size tax return because they are taking out taxes for the whole year even though I have only worked three months. Is this right? I get a gross weekly pay of 1040, which is 796.86 after taxes.
I really wish I understood this tax stuff haha
6 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoI am going to buy a new car, but have some credit card debt...help?
So within the next three months or so I am going to be buying a new 2011 Honda Fit Sport. I have already researched the car and decided it is a good match for me, but I have some outstanding credit card debt that I am slowly paying off. It's about $1500 worth, though I hope to have that number down to about $1000 by the time I buy the car. I have a steady job and I will hopefully have a $5000 cash downpayment. Will this credit card debt cause problems when I go to get the car? How about if I have someone co-sign with me?
5 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoDoes anyone have a great cherry cake recipe?
My brother requested a cherry vanilla cake for his birthday, and since I am considered to be the baker of the family, I get to be the one to make it (which is fine, I love baking). Now, I was just going to take one of my tried and true vanilla cake recipes and modify it with some maraschino cherries/juice to give it that cherry flavor, but I'm not sure if it would be a strong enough flavor and I don't have time to do a test cake (need it for day after tomorrow).
So my question is, are there any good recipes out there that I can use or modify to make it my own? How about the icing? Again, I was just going to take my usual buttercream recipe and add cherry juice to it, but maybe there is something better? Unfortunately, he doesn't like cream cheese frostings, otherwise I would go that route.
Thanks!
