  • Gaming PC build, is everything looking good?

I'm about to begin acquiring the parts I need to build my gaming PC. I like to think I know a lot about computers and what not but if someone is more well-versed than me I'm always open to opinions and comments. If anyone sees any issues with the build or has any suggestions, I'd love to hear from you.

  • What all do I need to be aware of when building up my '06 Mustang GT to 800-900 HP?

Hello. I drive an '06 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L. I'm by no means an automotive expert. I'm somewhat new to the hobby but am learning all that I can and have a lot of experienced friends to guide me. My current issue is that I don't know what the whole drive assembly (Axels, driveshaft, ect.) are rated at stock. I don't know if they will fail or break apart when my car hits those high levels of power.

I currently have it supercharged with a Kenne Bell 2.6L V3 Model TS pushing 8.5 Lbs of boost. I already know how to hit 800 HP by kicking up the boost to 19 lbs, replacing the engine internals with forged components and getting a new set of cams.

So my questions are what are the drive assembly (I'm sorry I don't know what its called, the axels, driveshaft ect. Basically anything that can break under extreme power) rated at? Can the stock components handle 800 HP? My second question is will the engine block be able to contain everything without cracking or otherwise breaking?

Thank you very much for your time.

  • Good e-reader/Kindle?

I'm looking for a kindle or e-reader that has good battery life and, I'm not sure what it's called, but the thing that makes it look like paper and ink and not a screen. The screen makes me dizzy when I read for a long time. All I want it to do is store books and Wi-Fi so I can download them from online. I don't need apps or any of the extra stuff. Anyone know of a good one that has the "paper" screen?

  • How difficult is it to learn EVE Online?

I am thinking about getting EVE Online but it looks extremely confusing with a massive learning curve. How long, in game hours, will it take me to really know what I'm doing? Will I have fun or will I be at such a disadvantage that I'll get destroyed?

  • Windows 8 Boot Up Issue?

So I recently got a new computer from CyberPowerPC, custom built. I wasn't having problems except for a Windows 8 activation pop-up that would pop up every once in a while. I couldn't find the windows 8 key they supposedly sent to me and I got fed up and downloaded a watermark remover (which was my first mistake). At first I could sign in and it'd sign into a black screen with a cursor. I rebooted it and hit F2 and ever since I changed a few settings it won't even let me sign in.

When I start up the computer it instantly goes to:

    >>Checking Media Presence...

    >>Media Present...

    >>Start PXE over IPv4

then the bottom line changes to

    >>Start PXE over IPv6

    then it goes to:

Reboot and Select proper Boot device

or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

I tried many different things because the only thing I can do is access the F2 menu but I can't figure out how to boot it up or start it in safe mode (if that'd help enough to uninstall the watermark remover)

My options on top when I hit F2 are Main, Advanced, Security, Boot, and Exit (It doesn't say BIOS on top, like most videos on youtube and fixes on the internet say). The top bar says Aptio Setup Utility

I have a windows 8 disc I got with the laptop but it won't start up (I thought that might be what it meant by Insert Boot Media) but it doesn't do anything.

If anyone has any idea how I can fix this issue any advice or ways of fixing this would help.

    Thanks,

    John

  • If you have time, will you give me feedback on my work in progress novel?

I'm working on my first real novel and I think it'd help me a lot if I got feedback from people who aren't afraid to tell me how it is. If you have time, click on the link and let me know what you think here or on the site.

It's a post-apocalyptic story about a man and his family. No zombies, don't worry. It's a gritty, dark, realistic look at what America might look like after a Government collapse and widespread war.

I'm trying to avoid being cliché and cheesy so anything that sounds like that, let me know. I'll change it. I'm open for all feedback, and please feel free to tear it apart if it isn't good!

Thank you all so much, and if you can pass it on to others I'd love to get it out there. If I get enough people who enjoy it, I'll post a chapter a week and you can follow the story in the near future!

  • How should I go about getting feedback on my work in progress novel?

I've been working on my first serious attempt at a novel for a month or so now (I'm in the Marine Corps and am really busy, so it's slow coming) and I feel like getting community feedback as I go would really help me out.

I've had my friends read my work and they all seem to really enjoy it, but I need unbiased opinions. The comments and criticisms from my friends and family are important, but I'd rather have someone give me advice that isn't afraid to tear my writing apart and tell me exactly how it is.

I looked at wattpad and that looks like something I could try, but I also don't want my work to be stolen. Not that it'll get anywhere, but I'd like to try. I hope to eventually get it published and sell it, but that's a dream a lot of new writers have and I know it'll be tough and a learning experience for sure.

So I was wondering if wattpad is a safe place to post my work, without it being taken from me, for constructive feedback as I write. If not, do you know of any?

  • What is the United States Marine Corps Aviation Mechanic MOS school like?

I just recently graduated Boot Camp on November 1st and was curious to know what my MOS school will be structured like. How much free time do we get? What are the living quarters like? Can I bring a TV/Computer for gaming and entertainment or will I not have room or time? What's a typical day like? Do I get off-base liberty every weekend? Any info on my MOS schools would be great! Thank you.

My specific MOS is 6251 Fixed Wing Aircraft Airframe Mechanic Trainee. If anyone knows exactly what I'll be doing and working on in the fleet I'd love information on that as well.

  • Do the Magic the Gathering computer games have different cards in each one?

I was thinking about getting Magic the Gathering 2014. I looked at the older ones though and I started to second guess myself. Are the decks all the same? The cards? Or are all of the Magic games completely different with completely different cards and decks?

Thanks for the info and thanks for reading.

  • Good Post-Apocalyptic Novel?

I'm looking for a good book about a post apocalyptic world. Not necessarily zombies or anything just something about the struggle for survival against the world, difficult decisions and other people or "enemies". It doesn't necessarily have to be happy, in fact I just want something that is almost difficult to read because of the decisions and things the characters go through.

I want to find something that will pull me in and keep me interested. I've heard good things about The Road but I wasn't sure if that was a good one or if there are any that are better. I'd be really happy to take multiple suggestions as I can always read more later on.

Thank you very much for reading and I really appreciate the answers!

  • What are the steps to becoming a helicopter door gunner in the Marines?

I wanted Infantry really bad. There weren't any positions available and my recruiter never told me until months later so I got stuck with what was left. I chose aviation mechanic because I enjoy working with my hands and I figured it'd be a good skill to have. I also was told it'd be helpful when I apply for MARSOC (If I decide to and when I am ready physically and mentally. I know this is extremely challenging and I am not one of those immature kids who believes he is invincible).

So I did some research and saw that I could become a door gunner on a helicopter, which would be a really unique experience and would get me close to the job I craved. I do plan on either going MARSOC or switching to infantry at some point, though that may change in the future. This job screw up will give me time to mature so my teenage hormones don't get me killed. If, in the future, I decide to go infantry then I'll have the experience of both aviation mechanics and chopper gunning with me, which may or may not help me out. However, if I decide not to go infantry, chopper gunning may be a healthy medium for me.

I think that becoming a chopper gunner would be a great alternative to a job I'm not particularly psyched about until I can get a job I really do want.

  • How much power am I going to need to run dual NVIDIA Titans?

I'm thinking about making an investment on dual NVIDIA Titans and I was wondering how large of a power supply I am going to need to run them. Also, would there be any point in upgrading my processor while I'm at it. I have an i5 2500 3.3 GHz.

  • Bioshock Infinite or Metro Last Light?

I cannot decide between the two. I'm looking for a great story with amazing gameplay. I love Metro 2033 and Bioshock 1 and 2 so I'm stuck. I'd prefer answers from someone who has played both but if you feel strongly one way I'd be happy to take your opinion into account. I'd really like it if you backed your decision up with reasons, too. It'll help me decide!

    Thanks!

  • Is Bioshock Infinite good?

I'm looking for a game I can get lost in. I really want a great story that engages me emotionally. I'm sick of all of these boring games and want something engaging. I loved Spec Ops the Line because it was so intense and emotional. I want a game that can be more impacting than that and make me feel intense feelings of any and all emotions.

Bioshock Infinite is supposed to be good, but I don't know. I loved Bioshock 1 and 2 but this one looks much different. I don't know if I like the look of it but at the same time I hear nothing but great things about it.

I'm a PC gamer and I know most of you will bring up Last of Us, which looks amazing. I'm shipping to boot camp for the Marine Corps any week now and am going to wait until after, as I may be gone next Monday.

I need something that is out now and is amazing. I do own a lot of games but none are doing it for me. I enjoy realistic games more than anything. I really wish I could find a war game that rips on the player emotionally but there really aren't any. Medal of Honor Warfighter failed. Brothers in Arms got close I guess.

I'll take any suggestions if Bioshock isn't what it sounds like I'm looking for!

    Thanks a lot.

  • What MOS would help increase my chances of being accepted into MARSOC?

I talked with my recruiter today and I told him I was interested in MARSOC. He told me I had a good chance and that all I had to do was apply after my MOS school. So I talked to him for a while and decided on Aviation Mechanic because he said it would make me stand out as an applicant. I originally wanted infantry but he told me I was too smart and that infantry wouldn't make me stand out as an individual because thousands of infantry marines want to join MARSOC. Aviation mechanic (according to him) would give me an edge, coupled with my ASVAB score of 80, because my unique knowledge and skillset would be both benefitial and desireable for MARSOC.

So my question is was he correct? Will being an aviation mechanic give me an edge as an applicant or would a different MOS be better?

  • USMC: Can you become a scout sniper without an Infantry MOS?

I enlisted a couple of months ago and I get my MOS soon. I asked for 1: Infantry, 2: Security Forces (Which I was told was a specialized Infantry Unit) 3: Egineering and Utilities (Hoping for Combat Engineer).

I really would like to get the opportunity to go to Scout Sniper school and my recruiter said everyone wants to be infantry and I probably won't get that. I read online you have to pass Infantry requirements to get into Scout Sniper school and I was wondering, if I got Security Forces, could I get into Scout Sniper School?

My GT score is 118 and the requirement is 100 and my PFT score is 245 and it'll just improve as time goes on so I do meet those requirements.

I also know it's based on shooting Expert and all of that and I will know how I shoot when I get to basic training.

So with Security Forces, is it even possible to achieve acceptance into the scout Sniper school?

  • What are some good multiplayer shooters with a lot of weapon customization?

I am looking for good multiplayer shooters. First or third person is fine. I just love being able to customize weapons and unlock new things. It gives me something to work for. I cannot stand COD though so I'm looking for games other than that series.

  • US Marine Corps NROTC Officer questions?

I am currently 17 years old and want to get into the Marine Corps. I have been training with them and I want to enlist as soon as possible, I'm just waiting on my parents to become fully convinced it is what I want to do. I also was looking into the NROTC program because I am pretty smart and would like to take advantage of that opportunity if I could. So onto my questions.

The most important thing for me is that, according to my recruiter, most Officer positions are desk jobs. I do not want to be behind a desk. I want to be the boots on the ground. I want to have a job where I will be tested physically and mentally and just the traditional Marine Corps experience. So are most Officer positions desk jobs or will I get the experience and tasks that I want?

Also I was curious to know how difficult it is to get into the NROTC program. I know the PFT and ACT/SAT scores are taken into consideration. I run a 27:34 three mile (it's aweful I know. I'm working hard and will continue to work hard until I can run it in 18, weather it's possible for me or not.) 18 pull-ups currently, and 91 sit-ups in 2 minutes. I am working to improve all areas obviously and I assume they will only get better in the future. I have not taken the SAT but I got a 26 on the ACT and a 24 on english and 28 on math. So how difficult is it to get into the program? Will I get accepted with the current scores I have?

My last question is what does the Marine Corps need? I want to be where I can do my best to benefit me and the Corps. So if, based on my scores, I should be at a desk in an Officer's position, maybe that is what I should persue. So in your opinion should I go the Officer route or the Enlisted route?

Thank you for taking the time to read through my question and I'm sure your feedback and opinion will help me out greatly.
