  • HELP! I need legal advice for a ring worm situation at a preschool I work at.?

We have had a situation with a child in a class I assist in who has ring worm. We have gone back and forth with his mother who claims one day he has ring worm (so don't let him play in the sand) but then when we say he can't come to school, all of a sudden he doesn't have the ring worm anymore. The woman in charge of the preschool center in our elementary school wants nothing to do with keeping him from coming to school so she doesn't have to deal with the mother (who yells at anyone that suggests her son can't come to school) or loose out on the money they get everyday that he attends class.

We have asked the mother repeatedly to take him to the doctor and figure out what exactly is on his scalp since we have no proof it's ring worm, and now we ask that she get a doctors note for the new outbreak on his back. We finally got the doctors note stating yes, it's ring worm on his scalp and it's finally being treated. So now that it's being treated we cannot legally force him to stay home. He is suppose to keep his scalp covered up, but his mother sends him to school with NO covering for his head what-so-ever. The lady in charge of the preschool keeps trying to find "the right hat" for him, but he is developmentally challenged (our kids have autism, behavioral issues, down syndrome and such) and he will not keep any hat on no matter what hat the lady finds. We use lysol up the ying yang, but all the children in our class are still at risk at catching the ring worm. Not to mention the plays outside on the playground that is used by all other developmental children, preschool, head start and other 1st-3rd graders. They do not sanitize the playground after every use, if at all for all I know.

Also, the outbreak on his back was not identified by a doctors note or stayed to being treated.

To sum it up, none of the teachers want anyone to catch the ring worm. We have been lied to by the mother, jerked around by out superiors and me personally, I am still breastfeeding my baby and I am tired of gagging myself spraying every single toy and piece of furniture in our class room after school trying to kill any type of ring worm infection. He grabs so much stuff and rubs it on his head! We always just throw it away and waste many things. He scratches his head and plays with other kids hair, clothes, etc.

Is there anything we can do to keep this kid from coming to school? I mean the mother has lied repeatedly, she does not properly cover her son's head before he comes to school (which he is suppose to have, by law as long as it's covered he can come to school but his mother never covers it!) and it puts EVERYONE in the school who uses that playground at risk! There must be something I can do. So please, only FACTS and references all advice so I can make my case firm.

  • I need help finding a book about an illiterate black girl that becomes a famous model..?

This book is about a black girl who is illiterate. She ends up rooming (I think) with this crazy white girl who invites her to a party to be a waitress. The black girl (who's name I think starts with a G) has always wanted to be a model and she ends up getting discovered at the party. She becomes very famous and has to continue to hide the fact that she can't read or write. She falls in love with an older man and looses her virginity to him, but an older woman (whom she befriends) becomes jealous of their relationship and writes a fake break up later to the man and leads the black girl to believe he left her because of her illiteracy. Some time goes by and the black girl ends up marrying and getting pregnant by a young white guy. The crazy white girl wanted the young guy so bad and becomes so jealous that she tries to sabotage the black girls career by selling pictures and stories to a tabloid. then she follows the black girl and her husband to their late honeymoon/vacation and trashes their room while they're away (smearing food on the wall, throwing alcohol everywhere, etc.). the husband gets back before the black girl and accidentally catches the place on fire. he can't escape and ends up dying. the older woman ends up out there and couldn't save him either. a whole bunch of other things happen and leads up to the black girl coming out about her not being able to read or write. turns out when she was younger she was babysitting a young boy who was allergic to peanuts. she ended up giving the boy some cookies and didn't know they had peanuts in them (from not being able to read the label) and he died. she opened a foundation in his name, had a baby girl and ended up back together with the older man.

anyway, this isn't the whole story, but parts of it that i hope will jog someones memory cuz i can't remember the name of the book or author for nothing!!

  • Anyone know about domestic violence restraining order cases in Southern California?

    Okay, here's the story.

Things have been rocky with my husband due to his alcoholism and when I felt I had enough I went and filed a domestic violence related restraining order against him. I explained in the report that he's never hit me with a closed fist or anything, just rough grabbing of the arms that led to scratches. He's just two totally different people when he's sober and when he's drunk. I asked the court to send him to AA and not have any contact with me or the kids. So for now I have a temporary restraining order and we're due in court soon enough. When I did this I thought it was just a restraining order, I didn't know that it could lead to charges being pressed and my husband going to jail. I feel so stupid for not realizing this, but it's too late, it's all said and done but I'm hoping I can figure out how to not have charges pressed against him before we go to court and everything really becomes final. Even though his alcoholism has made him into somebody that scares me to have in my home and around my children, jail isn't going to solve this problem. He'll loose his job and then when he gets out I'll feel horrible for screwing up his life. He is an ex-con, but his record has been clean for 7 years now and he's just coming to the point where he can find a decent job. Unfortunately all this rejection in the past 9 months has lead him further and further down the path of drinking his sorrows away. I don't blame myself for him making stupid mistakes, but I will blame myself if he goes to jail. I know it's not the answer...

So all together my question remains, what can I do to make sure charges are not pressed against him to where he goes to jail? I'm sure there's nothing I can do about him having domestic violence placed on his record, but maybe I'm wrong there? I can only hope. I just wanted a temporary restraining order to get him away from me and our kids while he's going down this slippery slope, I didn't want to screw up his chances at a future and send him to jail.

Please be understanding, I really don't need any comments of me being stupid or anything like that. I just need real advice with how I can help keep him out of jail and possibly from getting any charges placed against him. I didn't know a restraining order came with all of that attached. Thank you in advance for any help you can be for me and my problem.

  • Does anyone have Alvin and the Chipmunks?

    Hey everyone,

I bought my daughter Alvin and the Chipmunks for Christmas last year. Not too long ago the DVD turned up lost, but we still have the digital copy. Only problem with that is my daughter is only 2 so she got her hands on the paper that is inside the DVD case one day and tore it all up. Without thinking about the digital code on those papers I threw them away. We never used the digital copy so I never even gave thought to the code.

Anyway, my question is to anyone that has this movie, would you mind allowing me to try and use your digital code? My daughter loves this movie and she's been wanting to watch it for some time. I tried to get a new code, but since I don't have the sales receipt anymore they won't give me one. I just don't have the money to buy a new one right now, so I would like to use the digital copy for the time being. If no one can help me out I understand, but I would greatly appreciate anyone who could.

Thank you all and have a blessed weekend.

  • situation with DAT waivers?

four years ago i tried to join the army. i was young and stupid and smoked a lot of weed. i failed one drug test and waited the six months to do another. i did clean up my act and my recruiter told me i'd pass cuz i was passing the drug tests they had, but yet again i didn't. please, save any type of negative talk cuz i've beat myself up enough. now, for the serious question here that i would like a serious answer to.. not to long after i got pregnant. the recruiter was still on my tail and trying to get me to clean up my act and try again. well i put it off until now and i'm trying to join again. they have been dragging me along and bringing up my hopes of getting my life together for my two kids. everything was fine until i called my recruiter today and she just found out that DAT waivers were no longer being accepted. from research being done it seems this has been going on for awhile and i'm stuck thinking WTF? is this really going to last until october?? she told me she's going to see if i can be an exception cuz my drug tests were so long ago, but this let down has be scared of believing anything else she has to say. so anyone with experience or anyone with concrete info please give me as much info as possible. is there really a possibility of me getting in through an exception?? i highly doubt it, but my recruiter is trying to get my hopes up again and i am not going to let her do that. i gave up college, my husband lost his job cuz he was supporting me and he was telling his manager that he was going to have to quit soon. well something happened and he got fired over petty stuff and i'm assuming his manager was just being a b*tch.. excuse my french.. and she wrote him down as a no show so technically he's on paper as he quit so we can't even draw no unemployment. he was lucky to even find that job cuz of his criminal background..

anyway sorry for the long details, but i just want people to know how much this opportunity meant to me and my family and i need either some type of hope, real hope.. or just the reality of the situation cuz my recruiter is such an airhead, she's a great person but she just doesn't seem to know much about anything so i can't trust her no more. thank you in advance for any input and please for anyone who wants to say negative stuff.. well i would say save it but i'm sure you'll say your input anyway. thank you for those who are respectful, polite people who really want to help me out. peace and God bless.

  • are we the new guinea pigs for splenda? what do you think?

i've never liked splenda myself but after a story my auntie's mom told me i decided to do a bit of research. where she lives at she has some family around her, one cousin in particular. well he is a crazy fan of diet dr. pepper.. or diet coke.. i cant remember which, but it was diet none the less so it was full of splenda. anywhoo after many years of excessive drinking of this diet soda he eventually wasn't able to do anything for himself. at first he couldn't drive because of his slowed body reactions. it got worse to the point where he couldn't even get up because he'd fall over after a few minutes of standing. he had to be taken care of like one of those old people regressing into infancy.. sorry that's the best way i can explain it. well the only thing he gave up was the diet soda. my auntie's mom had been warning him about the stuff for years. nothing else in his diet changed. he started drinking regular soda instead and well, he regained all his strength and went back to living like his old self. so the only thing my auntie's mom (who has been a nurse her entire life) could find as the culprit was the splenda in the diet soda. well after the research i've done it's quite disturbing what i've found. i know the FDA isn't exactly our friend when it comes to making sure (100% sure) that the food that makes it to our shelf is safe. food industries fund much of their research so if the FDA doesn't make them happy.. then that means no funding. splenda has only had 6 months trials done on it and most of it is in rats. they have had such things as enlarge livers, shrunken thymus glands and minor things such as migranes, stomach aches, nausea, etc.

I don't like to down things because I don't like them, I would never do that. But the craze today with sugar free this and less sugar in that is a fad and trend health conscious people are taking and running with, and what most disturbs me is all the splenda being put into kid friendly juices and food products. I don't want our kids to be the guinea pigs for splenda if it really is as harmful as it sounds. I'm not putting this up to say "stop using splenda" i'm putting this up to ask for everyones input..

Has anyone else had any or heard of any negative side effects from using splenda? What do you all think of the articles below on splenda?

    http://www.steviacafe.net/dangers-of-splenda

this ones kind of long so please at least read splenda side effects, i think its the most interesting part http://www.womentowomen.com/healthyweight/splenda....

    http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive...

the most disturbing part to me is that splenda was discovered in the 1970's (i believe is the time span) as a pesticide! it comes from sugar, but isn't considered sugar because it was modified by adding CHLORINE atoms. people only digest 17% of splenda so that is why it is considered to have no calories because you don't digest any of it. but more healthy people can possibly digest more of this stuff and therefore digest more of the harmful chlorine. i just want to spread some knowledge and get some input. thank you for reading.

  • How can i make my kid 4" taller?

i'm leaving to the army for a little over five months. i want to plan a special trip with my family before i leave and my 2 1/2 year old seems old enough to enjoy quite a bit of disney world. she is only 36" and she can get in all the attractions i know she'd like except one, the dinosaur ride. all it is is a jeep cruise through the dinosaur jungle or whatever, but she has to be 40". i've heard of stickers being given out at the gate and being measured at every ride, which is true? also is there any shoes that will help jump her up four inches so she can get on the dinosaur ride? i'm not trying to get her on any roller coasters, i know there are height restrictions for a reason, but all we're doing is sitting in a jeep thing. she absolutely LOVES the dino movie and i know she'll love the ride just as much so any help would be appreciated.

  • Anyone hear about FEMA death camps and red dot/blue dot lists?

My friend is listening to her government conspiracy ex boyfriend. Even though I think he's a bit crazy for thinking HARPO (I believe its spelled) can control the weather and had something to do with Hurricane Katrina.. well this other stuff he's been ranting on sounds a bit possible. It's kind of scary though. I'm choosing to not let it affect my life, but I am also keeping my ears, eyes and mind open to this new and interesting information. Please check out these websites and tell me what you think. Please save it if you're going to spout how crazy this is and I'm crazy to believe it. I don't know whether or not to believe it, I just want honest feed back, but I don't care too much for those who are going to be rude.. so please.. once again just save it.

  • i can't remember the name of this game!!?

okay, this is going to be VERY vague, but its the best i can do. this was kind of more an interactive board game. i don't think it had an actual "board" but it had an audio cassette and it would give you directions on how to beat the game. it was kind of a fairy tale thing and you would collect magic gems i think along the way and at the end i believe you would defeat an evil witch or something.. ARG! it was one of my faves wen i was in elementary school (early to mid 90's) and i would love to try and find it on EBAY or something for my toddler.. if this reminds anyone of any kind of audio cassette game with magical fantasy stuff (i think it was more of a girly game than sumthing like dugeon and dragons though). it might have had card you could draw.. but i just think it was more of a "quest" the cassette tape would send you on to find these gems or help from magical people (like faeries and good witches i think) and help defeat the bad witch or whatever evil person you had to defeat. plz give me any type of response, it will be helpful.. i know this is vague and i'm so sorry! but any help is very much appreciated. thank you!
