I am a licensed electrician in WA. state. Member of IBEW local 191. I have 13 yrs of experience. The last 10 of those yrs are doing troubleshooting, repair, and remodel work. I do a lot of work on older homes. I have a lot of experience fixing the electrical work of people who 'thought' they knew what they were doing. Yes, a lot of my answers tend to be long. I will quote/cite the National Electrical Code when necessary to support an answer. I'll try to take the time to give an accurate answer vs. an 'off the cuff guess' whenever possible. People's safety is at risk when electrical work is not done correctly. I'm not afraid to contradict other incorrect answers. But, I don't care as long as the question asker is kept safe. There tends to be a lot of bad/dangerous electrical advice being offered on this forum. Some of us are true professionals. Some are not. Be wary of just who is providing the answers.
Do question askers get their 5 points back when the question gets deleted?
When the sleazy amazon referral spammers vote themselves as "best answer", and I report it, the entire question gets deleted immediately (about 98% of the time). Does the user who posted the question get their 5 points back?
