  • Was my dog drunk? Or was it the heat?

Okay, I know I'm going to get a lot of angry people telling me that I'm cruel for letting my dog get drunk. But I didn't intentionally set out to get him drunk, I'm just hoping he was drunk and nothing else.

So here's the story, and I'd really appreciate any help on this.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to take my 6 month old mini daschund (named Weasel) to work with me. Its been very hot where I live the last few weeks indoor and outdoors. My place of work is no acceptation, so last night I was working, and taking Weasel outside to where the air was slightly cooler every chance I had, say at least twice every hour for about ten mins each time. Making sure he had lots of cold water, to the point where he was just getting ice so it the water would stay cold longer for him. Towards the end of the night I noticed he was less active then he usually is and figured it was the heat that was just making him sleepy..... Then I saw him walk, or try to I should say. He'd try to take a step or two and stumble the just stand there looking at the ground or wall. He'd just stand there then he's be okay a few mins later. So I figured okay too much heat for a little dog, but then he'd started swaying, and i mean swaying, like he was going to fall over. So I picked up, and carried him outside where as soon as the cool air hit him he'd be fine running around until he started acting the same way. So I took him home, showed his food and water which he had no interest in. I held him in my arms and rubbed him where he likes to try and sooth him, and it was like he was passing out in my arms. He'd fall asleep then wake up almost with startled. I got up this morning and have been keeping a very close eye on him and he seems totally fine. Running around, drinking water, eating his food, being himself.

  • My Puppy seems to be having teething problems?

My 6 month old mini dachshund has what I believe is his adult teeth coming in. He can't open his mouth very much, and starts to whimper when he tries to yawn and his mouth opens a little more then he wants. I've watched him try to eat dry hard food which is what he usually eats but he just moves it to the front side of his mouth so I've switched him to soft wet food, and he seems to be doing okay eating that. He doesn't have interest in his chew toys. I've tryed to massage his jaw but I can't tell if its working or not. So I'm wondering if him not being able to open his mouth normal? Has anyone heard of this? Is there anything I can give him to help ease his discomfort? Or give him to chew on?
