  • Why was Obama against the Bush tax cuts and is now for them?

The President was very adamant about how the Bush Tax Cuts were a bad thing, that they would lead to massive deficits and would hurt the economy.

Now, the President is championing the very tax cuts he was against.

Why were the tax cuts "bad" when Obama wasn't President, why were deficits "bad" when he wasn't in charge... and suddenly these things are "good"?

  • Why are liberals holding up job-creating bills?

Why are liberals in the Senate holding up voting on 27 job-creating bills?

Why are liberals constantly bitching about how the GOP hasn't done anything... when it is liberals that are blocking bipartisan job-creating bills?

  • What is the moral justification for "tax the rich"?

Many liberals seem to have the attitude that the government should decide, through tax police or other method, what is an acceptable amount for an individual to earn in a year; anything above that amount should be "taken" by the government so it can get it's "fair share".

Where does the GOVERNMENT derive the ability to decide what is an appropriate amount for an individual to earn, as opposed to the customers and stock holders of the companies these people work for?

In addition, why is there a notion of, "someone else should have to pay for it" that is present across most liberal fiscal policy? We see it when liberals propose new programs when they stretch the costs into the future for the sake of spending today. It is the same for "cost cutting"; obligating politicians in the future to enact the "savings" (which may or may not happen).

In short: how is it that liberals derive a fiscal policy that seems to have a pass-the-buck attitude and how is it that they cling to thins notion after failures of liberal fiscal policies currently and in the past?

  • Hard Sci-fi anime and manga?

Having recently reread PLANETES, I am looking for new titles in the genre of "Hard Sci-Fi".

    Suggestions are welcome.

I would also welcome suggestion for general sci-fi with a focus on character, not on "cool fights", moe-crap, harems, and other modern trappings that are dragging down sales and general public interest.

(I don't actually expect to get too many responses, and anime and manga fans of this generation only seem interested in watching/reading things that have been made in the last 2 years and have very little knowledge of things outside that time frame)

  • Romance Novels... for MEN?

Although I know there are romance books written from a male perspective, that does not make them necessarily "romance novels for men".

I speak specifically to romance book written FOR men, that being, romance books that are written for a male audience.

I am not speaking of male-male relationships nor a romance story attached to an action story, where the action is the focus.

I speak of a "romance" story that is like current "romance" stories... but written for a male audience (I am not sure if I am being clear with my point).

    Thanks for your help!

  • Was everyone killed? The editing/directing of the movie does not make it clear.?

In the movie "Chronicles of Riddick", the Necromongers deploy a weapon that is supposed to wipe everything out on New Mecca.

Although it is never shown, are we to assume that the weapon DID kill everyone there?

The direction around that scene left me confused as they showed the weapon going up... but not coming down (and killing everyone), instead cutting back to the main story line of Riccick battling the Lord Marshal.

    Anyone have any non-speculative answers?
