What credibility to Republicans have bringing up deficits as a reason not to vote for health care reform?
Fact: 8 trillion of the current 12 trillion national debt is from Reagan, Bush 1 and 2 alone (75% ot total).
15 AnswersElections1 decade agoMcCain showing much stronger signs of senility?
In just a week's time, he has made some of the most embarassing errors in his speeches that appear far beyond the Freudian slip threshold.
- He called Americans my "fellow prisoners"
- He called an interest rate cut and "interest rate (insert worst woman C-word here)"
- He said he "could not agree more" with the negative statements Rep. Murtha has been saying about western Pennsylvanians.
All of these can easily be found on youtube. Is McCain starting to really lose it?
19 AnswersElections1 decade agoPowell's interview on Meet the Press diffuse "Muslim" argument?
Wanted to get people's thoughts on this because I found it very powerful.
Fox news and Co. keep trying to draw the dots for people to connect Obama to "muslim" upbringing, leading more dots on "terrorism" or Saddam Hussein via the middle name.
But what did you think of Powell's response asking why should being Muslim even matter? He told the story of a muslim American who was 13 after 9/11 and was eager to enlist as soon as he hit 18 to defend our country. He just died in Iraq and Powell's depiction of his mother at his headstone sent chills up my spine.
Why do we have this continuing racial, ethnic and religious profiling? We have our "Ayers" people too, but it doesn't mean everyone is like that. Every religion has bad apples and to say it doesn't is both naive and arrogant.
8 AnswersElections1 decade agoBetter punchline for diff. between hockey mom and pit bull?
I think the lipstick punchline is lame. Can you think of a better one?
This one is mine: "One is a filthy, drooling animal and the other is a pit bull."
2 AnswersElections1 decade agoUltimate sign McCain in trouble?
Up nearly 100 electoral votes according to Karl Rove's analysis? Yes.. you heard me.. Karl Rove???

It feels like the McSame campaign is a hair away from crumbling and Sarah's imminent stumbling on Thursday night should clinch it.
20 AnswersElections1 decade agoDisregarding principle, was voting no to bailout a mistake?
Think about it. The stock market lost well over a trillion dollars of wealth today which affects all Americans. All of this because of rejecting a $700b plan which is structured for the Treasury (taxpayer money) to recover most of the money in 5 years from selling appreciated assets.
Was it worth it? Do you think anyone thought the reaction would be this bad?
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoAny link to poll that McCain won last night?
Every poll I see looks like an Obama clean sweep. CNN/Gallup has Obama won by 13%, MSNBC has he won by 14%. Even Fox online poll has Obama winning by 4%.
12 AnswersElections1 decade ago269 vs 269 electoral tie, any guess on outcome?
Looking at the maps recently, there is a decent chance that the prez race could end in a tie. From what I understand, each of the two main D.C. establishments get a vote (house and senate). It is obvious that the house would vote for Obama, but what about the senate? If Lieberman sides with McCain (likely), that is a tie and I think Cheney breaks it. I am also thinking that Hagel might break ranks on the con side and go with Obama.
This could be a real nightmare scenario that would make 2000 look like a high school president race.
thoughts?
14 AnswersElections1 decade agoLOL, What do you think of this Palin answer to Couric?
This is NOT a hoax. This is part of the actual interview just taken between Sarah Palin and Katie Couric. What are your thoughts?
Couric: I'm just going to ask you one more time, not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his (McCain's) 26 years of pushing for more regulation?
Palin: I'llllll...try to find you some and I'll bring them to ya!
If you think that is funny, wait til you see the real interview. I have never seen such stumbling and trip ups to just about every question in my life.
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs economy right now "fundamentally strong"?
I need some answers here... If our economy was fundamentally strong, then wouldn't the 150 year old giant Lehman Brothers be strong enough to weather this? Wouldn't middle class wages be going up instead of down? Wouldn't huge multi-billion dollar companies be able to stay afloat without government intervention or taxpayer bailout? Wouldn't our health care system not have nearly 50 million people uninsured? Wouldn't we be creating jobs instead of losing them? Wouldn't our national debt be under control?
I know McCain is trying to change his answer to "people and their ideas" are strong, but that sounds like a cheap political copout and is contradictory since having strong people and strong ideas in management would prevent these huge companies from crashing, wouldnt it?
7 AnswersElections1 decade agoPalin says reformist, but was queen of cronyism?
Very disturbing article on how Palin hired friends and schoolmates to high paying jobs in Alaska and that they maintained a secretive inner circle.

Do you think this contradicts her claim that she will be a reformer in Washington with Mccain?
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoDid Palin dishonor a quote from Abraham Lincoln?
Palin is running behind Lincoln for cover in defense of her recent quotes using God in her speeches:
This is Lincolns quote:
"Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right"
And Palin's quote on US troops going to Iraq:
"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God"
And this is Palin's defense in the Gibson interview:
"But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that's a REPEAT IN MY COMMENTS, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side.
Can someone tell me where this "repeat in my comments" is? I think it is horrifying that she is preversing one of Lincoln's greatest quotes and using it deceitfully for political advantage. This is in addition to what I feel is also blasphemy, inherently saying that God supports war.
31 AnswersElections1 decade agoPlay Sarah: What would her answer be to this question?
Do you think God supports the U.S. in the war in Iraq?
2 AnswersElections1 decade agoPalin's interview - shying away from her statements?
Wow, that didn't take long. 5 minutes into her interview she starts playing dumb like a typical Washington insider. Natural reformer..yeah right.
<<<GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, "Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God." Are we fighting a holy war?
PALIN: You know, I don't know if that was my exact quote. >>>
You can watch it on youtube, and except for her saying "them" instead of "US soldiers", its the same thing. Welcome to politics 101. Reformer my tush.
Do you think she will next collapse on the bridge to nowhere? Banning books? Ebay-gate?
16 AnswersElections1 decade agoDoes Palin have a copyright on the word "lipstick"?
This outrage over Obamas "lipstick on a pig" remark is ludicrous. This is an old saying and was actually used by McCain against Hillary early in the primaries. But because the holier than thou Palin used the word 'lipstick' in a lame joke about hockey moms, that saying becomes unusable? And if used, its insulting just to Palin? God help this country.
14 AnswersMakeup1 decade agoWhat animal would you compare to Palin?
She has directly or indirectly called herself a barracuda and a pitbull so far.
Give me your best animal impression what suits her most and why?
25 AnswersElections1 decade agoIf Bush/Cheney promised a kinder, gentler nation?
What will happen to this nation now that we are promised reform and change from McCain/Palin?

2 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhy does the surge success outweigh entire Iraq war to cons?
The media, especially Fox news, has especially been hammering on Obama on admitting that the surge reducing violence has worked. It's like.. c'mon Obama! Admit it, you were wrong and McCain was right! And now they are jumping up and down for joy that Obama said that it is working beyond our wildest dreams.
But after all that, WHO CARES. The real problem is that he gets little respect from being one of the few public figures that spoke out against this war in the first place and said it would quote "require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences." He is right on all 3, and they are still undetermined. McCain was for this mistake of a war, Obama wasnt. 4,200 troops have died since the Iraq war. 0 would have died in Iraq if Obama had his way. We could have those forces elsewhere around the world attacking the terrorists that attacked us or keeping a lid on the Taliban who are now regaining full force and undoing all of our progress there.
And besides all that, the surge technically has not worked because its objective was to give a few more months of precious time to the Iraqi's to achieve political reconciliation. What has happened since? Nada. They are fighting over oil revenues, 3 tribes fighting over power, and land disputes are endless.
Surge... puhh!
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs Palin really a champion of earmarks?
She comes across as this great reformer, stopping the bridge to nowhere (even though she was for it before the Ted Stevens scandal broke), but the facts state that Alaskans in the last few years have received the MOST per capita than any other state in pork project ear marks. The bridge to nowhere money just went toward other projects.
Why are people such sheep in believing everything she says with 0 due diligence?
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoMcCain voters - how will things get done if he wins?
Have you all considered that the house and Senate will be overwhelmingly democratic if McCain wins? What tangible evidence is out there that he will be able to get what he is promising done?
