  • I think that I have a retarted Box Turtle...?

My Box Turtle, (named Selena), is acting really stupid, and I want to know if it's normal behavior for a turtle.

In her tank, she has a rock (Not a heat rock, just a plain rock that she can climb on), and a dish of water that's deep enough that she can swim in it.

The first stupid thing she has done, is she climbs up on the rock, and then falls off, upside-down. I had found her upside-down twice, in one day, so I watched her, and she just climbed up, flipped off, and didn't even try to flip back over herself, she just layed there.

The second stupid thing that she has done, is that I have found her floating, upside-down, in her water. I don't even know how she can get upside-down in her water, because the rock is in one side of the tank, and the water is at the other side, so she couldn't have flipped off of the rock and into the water.

And one of the weirdest things, is that she didn't used to do this. When I first gave her the rock, I closely monitered her, to be sure she could get on and off of it, and she could fine. She's had it for over 7 months, and it's just been within the past month that she's started flipping over. And she's had the water for a month now, but just started flipping upside-down in it in the past week. She's been upside-down twice now.

Does anyone know why or how she flips over in the water?

Do you know why she isn't smart enough to get on her rock without flipping off of it?

Why didn't she do this to begin with, but is now?

And do you know how to make her stop it?

    She's worrying me.

Last night when I found her upside-down, she was half-drowned, because her head kept bobbing under water.

    Thank you!
