  • Have you been dropped insurance coverage or denied coverage because you were sick?

I'm just curious how that happens. In my life I have had insurance through employers and when I worked independently I purchased it myself through Kaiser. But I was never asked to list any pre-existing conditions or have been denied coverage when I or anyone in my family has been sick. I am in California.

  • Are we living the movie Idiocracy?

I can't believe what is going on right now.

I heard today that we are going to be paying more for energy...but it is supposed to be offset by the $13 extra dollars we are supposed to get if you have a job. So, I am supposed to spend my lucky $13 stimulous money on my electric bill? Which goes back to the govenrment?

If you have a job it makes more sense to get laid off. You can collect unemployement, health insurance at a reduced cost, then you can apply for a discount on your energy bills for being poor AND you don't have to work for 18 whole months! That's really encouraging me to go get another job. How about backpacking, traveling for 18 months?

  • Similarities between Obama & MTV VJ Jesse?

Does anybody remember when MTV had viewers pick a VJ and they choose the homeless guy Jesse? Everyone thought he was cool at first...but then he got really annoying and then he just disappeared. The runner up started appearing more and now works at TBS (I think). This must have been like 10 years ago.

Isn't that story similar to Obama's? 1/2 the Democrats thought it would be cool to have him...but the smart choice was Hillary.

Who thinks it's a similar situation?

and what is the moral of the Jesse story?

  • Are liberals more intolerant?

I live in Santa Barbara county and there are Obama bumper stickers on so many cars and I have not seen a single McCain one. I'm not a bumper stiicker kinda girl...but if I was I would still not put a bumber sticker on my car for fear of vandalism. I have a McCain button...but it is displayed in my home, I'm not a button wearing kind of girl either. But I was thinking about putting it on my baby's stroller but again I don't want to be harrassed by the Obama suppoters. I know how to argue for my side but I just don't care for confrontations when I'm going about my day or want my property vandalised.

So, I was thinking, isn't it funny how they are supposed to be so progressive and tolerant but in fact they are not. There was so much vandalism in St. Paul during the RNC and protestors disrupting the convention. I didn't see that dring the DNC.

  • Why does everyone in the media and Jimmy Carter keep referring to Obama as Black?

Jimmy Carter called him a "black boy."

When he is 1/2 white and was raised by his white half. I'm not saying that he should be called white, but why does it seem to be in the forefront. You never hear people in golf calling Tiger Woods, the black guy in golf.

I have bi-racial children...so I'm just wondering what they are in for.

  • Who is thankful for President Bush having been president for the last 8 years?

I am. I spent my childhood in the early 80's in a war-torn country and remember the sorrow and tragedy. Then my family fled to the US and we were safe. When 9/11 happened I was so saddened because I could not believe how horrible the act and I did not think I would feel safe again. But after hearing President Bush's resolve...I believed him and he has kept his promise to keep us safe. I now have kids of my own and I was thinking about how grateful I am that I can put them to bed and know that we are safe. I am grateful for that.

Please...no political ranting or I'll report you!

  • After this week do you believe there is a media bias?

During the past week the media is going crazy trying to find dirt on Palin. But it took them months to show Rev. wright, the Rezco connection, Edward's affair, etc. Even though there were video, pictures and documents to link them.

If so...where do we go to just get the facts?

  • What do the following comments made by Obama reveal about his knowledge of real estate?

A few months after Obama became a U.S. senator, he and Rezko's wife, Rita, bought adjacent pieces of property. The mansion was sold to Obama for $300,000 below the asking price (1.32 Million.) Rezko's wife paid full price for the adjacent vacant lot ($625,00.) The deals closed in June 2005. Six months later, Obama paid Rezko's wife $104,500 for a strip of her land, so he could have a bigger yard. At the time, it had been widely reported that Tony Rezko was under federal investigation. Then is 2006 Rezko agreed to build and pay for the $14,000 fence that runs along their property line.

Obama's answers when he was questioned about the transaction:

"I don't recall exactly what our conversations were or where I first learned, and I am not clear what the circumstances were where he made a decision that he was interested in the property," Obama said.

"I may have mentioned to him the name of [a developer and] he may at that point have contacted that person. I'm not clear about that," Obama said.

RE: FENCE "My suspicion is that it would probably be a couple of thousand dollars. On the architectural side it might be more," he said. "I think legal fees were a couple thousand."

Is he that naive that he would not know that the "Rezco-he-knew-then" was buying the adjacent VACANT lot for 47% the price that Obama for an entire mansion estate right next door to him???

  • Attention Catholics: When does life begin? According to Nancy Pelosi Catholics don't know.?

Nancy Pelosi was on meet the press on Sunday August 24th and said the following:

REP. PELOSI: I would say that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time. And what I know is, over the centuries, the doctors of the church have not been able to make that definition. And Senator–St. Augustine said at three months. We don’t know. The point is, is that it shouldn’t have an impact on the woman’s right to choose. Roe v. Wade talks about very clear definitions of when the child–first trimester, certain considerations; second trimester; not so third trimester. There’s very clear distinctions. This isn’t about abortion on demand, it’s about a careful, careful consideration of all factors and–to–that a woman has to make with her doctor and her god. And so I don’t think anybody can tell you when life begins, human life begins. As I say, the Catholic Church for centuries has been discussing this, and there are those who’ve decided…

MR. BROKAW: The Catholic Church at the moment feels very strongly that it…

    REP. PELOSI: I understand that.

MR. BROKAW: …begins at the point of conception.

REP. PELOSI: I understand. And this is like maybe 50 years or something like that. So again, over the history of the church, this is an issue of controversy. But it is, it is also true that God has given us, each of us, a free will and a responsibility to answer for our actions. And we want abortions to be safe, rare, and reduce the number of abortions. That’s why we have this fight in Congress over contraception. My Republican colleagues do not support contraception. If you want to reduce the number of abortions, and we all do, we must–it would behoove you to support family planning and, and contraception, you would think. But that is not the case. So we have to take–you know, we have to handle this as respectfully–this is sacred ground. We have to handle it very respectfully and not politicize it, as it has been–and I’m not saying Rick Warren did, because I don’t think he did, but others will try to.

  • How can a baby born alive after a Partial Birth Abortion be a "concern for the mother's health?" It's OUT? ?

Obama said that the reason he was against the ban was because of concerns for the mother's health. But if the baby is BORN alive, you would assume that it is already out of the mother's body...right? So how can the baby be hurting the mother. It sounds awful to me.

There was testimony from a nurse who claims that she held a baby for 45 minutes that was born alive and then tossed in the trash to die. Why would you kill a baby after it is born alive? Just because it was marked for death? Because it was the mother's property?

What is the health concern for the mother? Why isn't there any concern for the baby?
