  • Does being a vegetarian effect your ability to lose weight?

I've been on WeightWatchers for nearly year and I've hit a plateau. I've been stuck the same weight for about three months now and I'm getting frustrated. I've tried lots of different methods within WW to help me get past it, but it's nothing's really happening. As you can imagine, my motivation is shot to pieces.

As I was walking home from work tonight, I got thinking - would that fact that I turned vegetarian four months ago be affecting my ability to lose weight? I didn't hit this plateau until after I switched. Is my body trying to tell me something, like start to eating meat again?

    Thoughts and advice please.

  • Where can you buy falafel?

I tried falafel a couple of days ago and really liked it. I might even attempt to make it myself one day, but at the moment I just want to buy it ready-made. Can you get it in supermarkets, or do you need to go to specialist stores?

  • Did I do the right thing in reporting my noisy neighbours to the local council?

Unfortunately, I have very noisy neighbours - three female students - who blast music loudly late at night. In the past I have asked them politely to turn the music down and usually they have complied. Everything is peaceful for a couple of weeks, then it starts up again.

Last night they started around midnight. I had gone to bed early and was woken by the noise, which I could hear as clearly as if it were playing in my own bedroom. I knocked on their door several times to ask them to turn it down, but without success. I even went as far to bang three times on the ceiling to give them a hint to cut the noise down. Again, no luck.

I moved into the living room with my mind set on sleeping on the sofa, which I really shouldn't have to do in my own home, and my mind set on talking to them in the morning. However, the music was so loud that I could still hear it in the living room.

  • How can I get my flatmate to pay up?

I moved into a flat in September with a friend. I'm working full time and she is at university. We agreed that we would split the bills down the middle, with us contributing £90 to electricity, gas, TV licence, insurance and Virgin Media package. All of these bills were put in both ours names, but come out of my bank account. We pay for our rent seperately.

In December, my flatmate decided to drop out of university for a year due to stress. She then headed off back home to Hemel Hempstead, not to be seen again until just before Christmas. At this point, she had not paid me her contribution to November or December's bills, and I had to harass her constantly until she paid up. Even then, she only paid me for December.

She's gone back down to Hemel again and hasn't been seen for about 3 weeks. I haven't been able to get in touch with her, and she still owes me for January's bills. I can't afford to pay for us both.

What can I do? What are my rights? I'm signed up to live in this flat

  • Does anyone know a good recipe for Chinese-style curry sauce?

I love Chinese curry sauce and I'd like to try to make it myself, rather than buy it from the supermarket or get it from my local takeaway.

Could anyone recommend a good recipe for it?

  • What can I do about my noisy neighbours?

I live on a ground floor flat. Above me live three young lady-students who are fond of blasting all different kinds of music throughout the day, singing loudly (albeit out of key) and stomping around (I can only assume that they are dancing). I often wonder if they're planning on auditioning for next year's X-Factor!

I have no problem with this, except when it continues past 11.30pm. When I first moved it, this was happening on a regular basis, but I had a polite (as in nice) word with them and they kept the noise to a minimum after that.

However, it's recently started up again, and I'm annoyed about it. I'm an insomniac, so I have enough trouble getting to sleep as it is. The music is usually so loud that you can hear exactly what song they're playing.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?

  • Can you suggest any good bedtime drinks?

I'd like to be able to get at least a few hours sleep before work, but being an insomniac is making that a bit difficult. Can anyone suggest any bedtime drinks that I could have before bed to help me relax?

  • If you sign an rent agreement, what are the condequences of ending the contract early?

I currently rent a flat, which I moved into in September 2007. The original lease was from September 2007 to August 2008, but in December, I was asked if I would like to stay in the flat beyond the original date, until August 2009. The reason that the letting agency wished to know this was because they wanted to put the flat back in letting pool for September 2007. With me not being sure of what I was going to do beyond August 2008, I said yes and signed the agreement, even though I felt that they were asking me to decide too soon.

My situation has changed recently and I'm considering moving to Scotland to be with my partner.

I was wondering if there would be any drawnbacks or penalties for me breaking this contrct early. Would I lose my bond, for example? I just evaluate the situation before I make any decisions.

    I currently live in England.

  • What was your worse concert experience?

For me, it was Guns N' Roses at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena a year or so ago.

The band was an hour and a half late on stage, which is normal for Guns N' Roses, but it was a very hot summer night and the arena was sold out. You can imagine how hot it was!

The music was great, very much a greatest hits show. However, somebody threw something onto the stage and Axel stormed off in a huff. He came back on to admonish the crowd and finish the song, before saying "Show's over. Goodnight" and storming back off. The show was cut short and there was no encore.

I felt a bit cheated out of the money that I had paid to see the band play 3/4 of their set and Axel throwing a tantrum.

What was your worst concert experience? Why?

Could you please settle this arguement between my manager and I. He says Brave Star was Mexican. I think he's Native American.

  • Who do you think is the killer in Basic Instinct? [spoilers]?

Is it Catherine (Sharon Stone) or Beth (Jeanne Tripplehorn)?

All the evidence points to Beth, but the final scene with Catherine and Nick in bed and the ice pick on the floor got me wondering if it was Catherine the whole time.

Who do you think is the killer and why?

  • I can't get my computer to connect to the Internet wirelessly.?

I'm having a problem getting connected to the Internet. My computer can see and connect to my wireless router, but it won't connect to the Internet. The weird thing is that it'll work if I connect an ethernet cable from the computer to the router. Obviously, I don't want to have to do that as it means moving my computer into the living room every time I want to surf the Internet, and I have a wireless card in my computer that I want to make use off.

I have no idea how to fix this, as I've been used to using Macs and it's been a long time since I used the Windows operating system. I've tried using the connection wizards, but they haven't helped.

Can anyone offer any advice as how to fix this? I have Windows XP installed on my machine.

  • How can you import music from tapes into Garageband?

My dad used to be a musician and I thought it would be nice to make him a compliation CD of all his music as a Christmas present. The problem I have is that all of his music is on tapes. I'd like to use Garageband to import the tracks. Does anyone know how to do that?

Obviously I need a tape deck of some type, but how would I connect that to my computer? Is there any other equipment or special connectors that I'll need?

I use one of the brand new flat screen dual core Intel iMacs and I have the latest version of Garageband.

  • What do you think about Lily Allen possibly being the Doctor's new assistant?

I have heard a rumour that Lily Allen is set to take over from Catherine Tate as the Doctor's new assistant in the fifth series.

Personally I'm unsure, but I felt the exact same thing about Billie Piper. I became quite fond of her and I was quite sad when she decided to leave the show.

This is only a rumour, and it has not been confirmed - or denied - by anybody with links to the show. Do you think Lily Allen would make a good assistant, or are you dreading the possibility? Do you think that anyone else would be a better assistant?

  • Do I need a legal document proving my separation?

My husband and I separated in May 2006. It was an amicable split, so we decided that we would wait two years and then file for a divorce.

I recently have heard that you need proof of separation in order to file for a "no blame" divorce (two year separation with consent). Is this true?

We have already sorted out our joint finances (house, bank accounts, insurance policies, etc.) and I have not lived with him since the split. We just need the divorce.

  • Should I tell him I love him via email?

I'm in love with my boyfriend, but I'm scared of telling him face-to-face because of seeing his reaction - good or bad!

We've been in a long distance relationship for 9 months, and we were friends before that. I love being with him and talking to him. He makes me feel amazing. I'm even considering moving to where he lives in order to be closer to him because I can't stand seeing only once every couple of weeks. I need to know if he feels as I do before I make my mind up.

I sometimes intrepret things he says and does as signs that his feelings run deeper, but I'm too afraid to bring up the subject.

I was married previously to a man whom I loved very much, and I was very hurt when the relationship ended, so I've been very cautious when it comes to love ever since. I also find it difficult to express my feelings verbally anyway, so that doesn't help either.

I have an email sitting in my drafts folder, in which I'm telling him everything. Should I click "Send"?
