  • What is the best way to clean an aquarium gravel vacuum?

Any advice on how to clean an aquarium gravel vac? The tubing on mine appears to have mildew in it (how the heck do you dry them, anyway?!), but the vacuum itself is perfectly clean.

Please do not suggest bleach water. This is an aquarium we're talking about, not a wall or window. Fish (and especially invertebrates like my shrimp) cannot be exposed to these kinds of chemicals. Does anyone have a fish-safe way of cleaning this?

  • How to move canvas to different window in Corel Painter 12?

I have two monitors set up (one of which is my Cintiq) and would like to have only my canvas in Painter on my Cintiq, similar to the way I work in Photoshop (see attached image). In PS, it's as easy as dragging the canvas to the other monitor, but in Painter, it seems that the canvas is restricted to the main program window. Is there a way to change this, or am I just going to have to have the whole program open on my Cintiq?

  • I don't use gas in my apartment, but I'm still getting spikes?

I have a SmartMeter with PG&E in California, so I'm able to look at my usage up to two days ago. The only gas-type appliance we have is our gas wall furnace, which is quite literally NEVER used (as in, ever. We have NEVER turned it on in the whole year and someodd months we've lived here). We see a spike every few days on our gas bill, but other than that, we have no usage. It's usually about a therm. I'm wondering if this may be the gas used to keep the pilot light on? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • How to Factory Reset Windows XP using the i386 folder?

Does anyone have any clue if it's possible to wipe and reinstall Windows XP with only the i386 folder? The computer I'm working on was not shipped with a Windows XP disk, which means that I have to do everything from the i386 folder.

A concise step-by-step would be nice if anyone knows.

  • How to/Is there custom game types in Halo 4 Forge?

Just started using Forge in Halo 4 yesterday and I have noticed that a lot of the functionality of Reach's Forge has gone missing (fine adjustment being one of them!). Is there a way to make a custom game type with specific loadouts, or did they remove that too?

  • What naval ranking is the man on the right?

    http://o.mfcreative.com/f4/file02/objects/9/a/f/1/...

Additionally, what does the symbol under the eagle crest on his arm stand for? And what about the stripes on his forearm? I've been looking for ages and have found nothing that explains this sort of stuff to people who don't have very much military knowledge.

  • What is the Wal-Mart position level of Pharmacy Cashier?

I'm currently a front-end cashier and had an interview today for pharmacy cashier. According to the manager, there is extra training such as HIPPA and Pseudoepehdrine compliance. I'm assuming that being trained as a cashier + extra would mean a pay bump. Does anyone know the Wal-Mart position level?

(Note: For those who have never worked for Wal-Mart, we have specific pay/position levels that go with certain jobs, so telling me how much one makes won't do me any good considering the differences in minimum wage across the US and differences in raise history.)

  • When townsfolk in Animal Crossing City Folk asks...?

...You to check their house to see if it's unlocked, is that part of an "odd job" to do for them?

...You to tell another villager something and to make sure to emphasize a certain phrase ("interior design" or "carpet" as examples), what do you do? I thought perhaps it was asking the player to write a letter to the other person, but that didn't seem to work.

Just bought the game a few weeks ago and am just now getting some time to actually play it. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Found a printing press print at a local Good Will, signed Carol Weidenmeyer, PTL. Any ideas as to what this is, or what PTL stands for?

I know what albino people look like typically, but I'm curious as to what leucistic people look like typically. What are some common features of leucistic people? Sort of like albino people have red or very very light blue eyes, they burn easily in the sun, etc.

  • Does anyone know where to find pokemon origami instructions?

I have been doing origami for many, many years, and I'm looking for a new challenge. I'd like to find origami instructions for Bulbasaur or any of its evolutions. I never figured out how to read line origami charts (the type that has just one image with various types of dotted/dashed/arrows/symbols), so please none of those.

  • Why do people ask questions here to validate themselves?

So many times, I see people on this site ask questions so that people will validate them. I had to answer a "question" the other day from a girl telling the reader that she was prettier than this other girl and that we should agree with her so the other girl would feel bad and leave her alone.

I've also run into mothers that basically just post a family situation and their reaction to it, expecting people to agree with them entirely.

Now, I understand medical questions, electronics, internet, advice, and even (maybe) honest-to-God, "am I pretty or not" questions. But I do NOT understand these people who post things in a way that sways the reader to agree with them, or expects us to stand by them.

Why do people do it? Are they really that unsure of themselves and that unwilling to take the bull by the horns? Do people REALLY depend this much on what other people think?

  • What is a good hairstyle for short hair? Wanna look nice for my date.?

I'm going on a date tonight (dinner, looking at Christmas lights) with my fiancee and I want to look really nice for the occasion. I'm fairly proficient at doing my makeup, but my hair is another story. It's just under my jaw and is mildly frizzy while staying mostly straight. It does get wavy at the ends, though.

I want to go with the holiday spirit and do something soft, warm, and cute, not anything sexy. I have access to mousse, hair wax, hair dryer, and curling iron. I was thinking pin curls until I realized I don't have any bobby pins. Any ideas?

  • What could cause a very sore tip of tongue?

About a week ago, I burned my tongue on something hot. I don't remember what it was, but it left me with that burned taste and feeling to my tongue for two days. Now the tip of my tongue is very, very sore to the touch and rubs against my teeth (it normally does since I have a bad overbite and willy-nilly teeth on my bottom jaw) constantly. I've been very on top of my oral hygeiene (brushing well, brushing tongue, etc) and can't figure out what it is. I don't think it's thrush. I don't have white patches or spots, or canker sores anywhere in my mouth. The tastebuds on the tip (on top and the little bit that wraps to the bottom of the tongue) are bright red and don't look happy at all.

I don't have the option to see a dentist about it right now, and if this continues, I'll see my family doc. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what this may be, or how serious it is. Thanks.

  • How to find a job in a new state?

My boyfriend and I are considering transferring to another state to finish our degrees. I have some friends in that state, one of which can get me a job with the school we're planning to transfer to. My boyfriend, on the other hand, doesn't have the skill set for the IT department on campus, and would have to get a job elsewhere.

What's the easiest way to find him a job in the new state? We have to find an apartment and get settled in summer before the fall semester, so the job would preferably have to begin almost as soon as we got there.

Should he wait until two or three months before the intended move and put in online applications?

  • What wattage power supply comes standard in most HP non-custom computers?

Found a boxed deal, but I want to be able to switch out the graphics card. The computer has to have at least a 300w supply because that's what the card needs, but is that standard for HP computers? I think it is, but I just want to be sure.

  • What is the best way to get and keep barium down?

I have been having gastrointestinal problems for months (since march), and tomorrow, I'm having a CT scan where I have to swallow barium. I've done it twice before, once with a small bowel follow through, and once thursday, when they had scheduled an emergency CT scan, but I wasn't able to keep the barium down (even with an injection of phenergan), and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to do it monday, either, when I have to for the rescheduled scan.

Anyone have any pointers on how to get through this?

  • What does smoking cigarettes in your dreams mean?

Since I can remember, I've had dreams off and on with me smoking in them. I've never smoked in my life, but in my dreams, I can vividly taste the cigarette and smoke and something tells me that I've done it before when I wake up, although I know I never have.

Recently, every dream I've had has included smoking cigarettes. They also commonly depict me traveling or running away from family. Any clues as to what this may mean?
