My Dodge Caravan for a while had a problem with kind of hiccuping between some gear changes but it was never really that bad. I took it to a mechanic who said he had fixed the problem and he had just made it a little bit less hiccupy. Recently though, (right after taking it to Jiffy Lube for the signature oil change, all fluids were fine), when it gets into 3rd gear, it has a huge hiccup and the RPM needle kind of springs up and down. It happens a bit for higher gears as well but mostly for the 3rd gear. Also, what happened twice was that when I was stopped at a red light, the RPM just went too low and my engine stopped turning. I put the car in park, turned it off, and turned it back on without any problems. The check engine light just turned on today after the first time the engine stopped turning. Is the problem most likely mechanical or electrical and how much would it possibly cost to fix it? I can't spend too much money since my family doesn't have many funds available at the moment so if it's over 500, I think I just have to sell it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Also, some additional details I guess. We bought the car from my neighbor at around 100000 miles and the engine has had overheating problems before but not at all recently. The car just surpassed 200000 miles a couple of weeks ago.

I don't know for sure. Well, the other thing is, its like 3 or 4 days before her period, and I was wondering, if she has her period, does that mean she's not pregnant? (since its close to her period anyway). But I don't want to hear "give her the morning after pill", because I know that's an option, but that's not the question. Any help would be nice please, if we at the moment can't afford the morning after pill, we sure as hell can't afford a baby =p (even though it would be a sexyass baby)
