  • New "from" address in Outlook?

Currently, my gmail and Outlook are synched. I just got a new email address and have set up all my emails to the new address be forwarded to the gmail account. However, I want to send from the new account. This was easy in gmail, but how do I do it in Outlook? I'm hoping I don't want to get all the emails sent to Outlook twice (i.e. through the forwarded gmail account and with the other account added).

  • Hotel for cheap X-mas trip to NYC?

    Hi all,

Trying to do something extra special for my mom as she goes through cancer treatments. One of her life dreams is to visit New York City at Christmas, and I want to make that happen. Unfortunately, I'm a poor graduate student, so I can't afford to go all out. Can anyone provide hotel recommendations that would provide fairly easy access to main city attractions (Times Square, Rockefeller Center, etc.) that won't cost me a ton? I've never been to the city, and have no idea even what areas I should focus my search.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Will a doctor perscribe birth control for the sole purpose of stopping your period?

I'm going to the ob/gyn soon, and I know they are going to ask if I want birth control. I'm not sexually active, so there's really no really need for it. However, I would like to enjoy the benefit of missing my periods. Would a doctor prescribe BC if I just want to make my period less frequency?

  • Go from laptop to external monitor?

    Disclaimer: I suck at computers.

My monitor seems to have a cable that has two sets of 9 pins, and then one longer pin at the end. I know I somehow have to get that to connect to my VGA port on my computer. What do I need to buy to make that happen?

    Thanks!

  • Screen resolution issues: enlarging overall text make some applications fuzzy?

I recently bought a computer with an upgraded screen that has a 1920x 1080 resolution. Problem is that the text is TINY. Changing to a different resolution doesn't help, but changing the text size setting makes most things perfect. Problem is that this makes certain software progrms (my stats programs in particular) fuzzy. Not terribly fuzzy, but enough to hurt your eyes if you used it all day, which I do.

Is there a solution to this, or do I have to choose between tiny text or fuzzy software? I tried using the 1920x 1080 resolution and just changing setting, but in the end it never worked.

  • Which Processor Is Better?

Which of these processors would be better, and why would it be better? I usually have multiple programs running on my computer, including programs that work with digital mapping images. Would I even notice the difference between the two?

  • Which processor should I get?

I'm getting ready to purchase a new computer and I don't know a lot about computer hardware, so I'm looking for some advice. My biggest hangup is choosing a processor. What do you gain by upgrading the GHz and cache? Also, for memory, should I look at getting one or two dimms. Finally, are graphics cards upgrades worth it?

My goal is to get a computer that maximizes speed while working on multiple projects at the same time. I work with a lot of imagery data, and so I need something that can handle that computing time. Of course, I also use it occasionally to stream videos, etc, but not often.

  • Things to do in Seattle?

I will be visiting Seattle from September 2-9 for a conference and I am looking for fun things to do in the city. I plan to attend go to a Mariner's game, the Space Needle, and Pike Place, but there has to be more to the city than that! I have a somewhat limited budget, no car, and will mostly be venturing out during the afternoon/evening hours. Suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Recovering volume, caps lock, etc. icons?

Due to a virus issue, I just had my computer completly wipped clean. I gave the guy all of my discs for reloading Windows 7, etc. and as near as I can tell everything is back running. The thing that i REALLY want back and I automatically notice missiing is the icons that use to appear when I was adjusting volume, connect/disconnecting my internet, caps lock, etc. They would pop up in blue on the bottom of my screen. Does anyone know how to recover those, or at least what they are called?

    Thanks!

  • Best Wii boxing game?

Is there a good Wii boxing game? I'm looking for something I can play as a 1-player and that you progress through. Not something where you play one match and you're done.

    Thanks!

  • counseling for depression-is it neccesary?

I was recently diagnosed with a medical illness that causes me to feel pretty crummy everyday. After living with this for three months I have developed depression. In no way am I suicidal but I have been feeling a bit helpless about my situation and have stopped eating. I've shared my feelings with one person who is suggesting I seek some professional help. The problem is that I keep everything to myself because I am embarrassed by my situation and so I doubt I would get anything out of it.

I guess my question is whether I should try to tough it out or consult someone. I worry that if I see someone I will just feel more guilty and embarassed and ultimately end of in a worse position. Any advice?

  • How much money to bring to Spain?

I am taking a one week trip to Spain for a conference and I am leaving in a few weeks. I am going to buy a large amount of euro before leaving to avoid card fees. My question is how much should I bring? I will be at a conference, so I don't think I will be sightseeing as much as the usual tourist, but how much should I plan to spend for meals and whatnot?

    Thanks!

  • Need help finding song from lyrics?

I heard a song today that I love but couldn't hear many of the lyrics. It's definitively easy listening music and the song is a fe years old and really common because I have heard it before. The only lyrics I heard were "One, two, three" and after that is sounds like he says a woman's name like Alana? I know it is a long shot, but any ideas?

  • Jefferson Reserve Whiskey?

I was looking for a present for a friend of mine who enjoys whiskey. On several occasions I have seen him drink Maker's Mark, but I know he has a pretty open palate. I want something very very good and I was thinking about going for Jefferson Reserve Very Old Very Small Batch. I'm not much of a drinker, so I don't know much about this. Would it be a good choice?

  • ACL surgery tomorrow-many question?

I tore my ACL 2 years ago and am finally having reconstruction tomorrow. A few questions:

    1) They are doing a hamstring graft. How many/how big will the scars be?

    2) How long should I plan on staying out of work? I have had a few orthopedic type surgeries before and always went back the day after surgery. I mostly just sit at my desk at work.

    3) What kind of brace will I wear right after surgery? How long will I be on crutches?

Thanks!! I know most of this was suppose to be answered by the doctor, but I totally blanked on asking him and there is a small window between the office visit and surgery date.

  • Broken or sprained ankle?

About two months ago I was walking down a small hill in the dark and some how twisted my ankle. I heard it pop and felt a rush of pain. After a few minutes the pain subsided and I was walking around with little pain so I thought it was just a sprain (I have a long history of ankle sprains).

The problem is that it is still bothering me and sometimes when I move wrong I feel that same rush of pain I felt when I first twisted it. Also, the bump that is usually my ankle is HUGE. It dosn't feel swollen, but it is enormous and the huge bump is actually rather hard.

So....sprain or break? I know I should see a doctor, and I plan to do so soon, but I want to know if anyone else has similar experiences. THANKS!!!

  • ACL surgery-what to expect?

I went to the doctor on Friday and apparently I tore my ACL in June. I will know for sure on Tuesday after my MRI, but the doctor seems pretty convinced. What should I expect from surgery? I am suppose to take a one month hiking trip at the end of June, should I wait until after that to have the surgery?
