  • How do I house train my puppy?

I have a 9 week old Jack Russell puppy. At the moment, I constantly watch him, and as soon as he starts circling I know he needs a wee. However, when I take him outside nothing happens (no matter how long I wait), and within a minute of returning inside he wees.

I have put the weed on newspaper outside and taken him there when he needs to go in case the smell would encourage him but no luck.

I have even tried taking him outside mid flow, but he stopped and waited till we were back inside before finishing.

He seems to have decent bladder control, because he can last all night, and when he does wee there is a lot for such a small pup! It seems to be that he thinks inside is the right place to go, so how do I let him know that it isn't? Preferably without resorting to punishment!

  • Whitespot and cloudy water?

On Monday I noticed that 3 of my 4 clown loach have whitespot (ick). I went to the LFS and got some Protozin, and also some aquarium salt as I have been told that this will help the fish recover. Yesterday I did a 50% water change, suctioned the gravel, and added the first dose of Protozin (half the recommended dose) and salt, but today my water is really murky. I can hardly see my fish unless they are at the front of my tank.

Any ideas why this has happened? Is it normal when treating for whitespot? Also do I need to change the water or will a water change stop the meds working?

I don't know if this makes a difference, but I have a few plants in the tank, only 2 ornaments, and I have turned out the UV lamp as it says to do so on the Protozin bottle.

  • My cardinals keep disappearing!?

I have recently set up a fish tank with 11 cardinals, 2 bala sharks and 4 clown loach. At the moment, the cardinals are about 2cm, the loach 4-6cm and the balas 5cm. Unfortunately, 4 cardinals died (now I find out I shouldn't have put them in a new tank!) and 2 have completely disappeared. I have checked the filter as 2 of the dead fish were found there, and I have suctioned the gravel, so I am reasonably sure they are not hiding anywhere, or died and got buried. Surely they couldn't have been eaten as they were too big to fit in either the clowns' or the balas' mouths!
