Looking for a laptop for my parents. Want it to be a replacement for their desktop, so... dvd drive, large hard drive (ssd would be nice but hdd is fine too), want it to be a fast system. They don't do any gaming or anything too processor intensive, but I need it to run fast and to stay fast over the years. Absolutely no macs, and I would prefer no HP's or Dells. Doesn't need to be very portable, so no netbooks or ultra books, it's just gonna stay in the house.

I have an ASUS EeePC 1000HEB and the charger eventually went kaput, so being the cheapskate I am, I ordered one off of amazon.com that was cheap. It works in that it powers the computer, but it doesn't always actually add charge to the battery. It is the same output voltage and amperage as the old charger, but I was wondering why it doesn't always work (it does charge the batteries sometimes).

Not actually sure how they operate, if it's magnetic then how could they detect non-iron items?

Thinking about subscribing to that service, but I'm wondering how good a razor can be when it's sold that cheaply, does anyone have experience with this service?

Crazy glue specifically warns against using it to glue PET plastics (soda bottles) but I am interested in doing some projects with soda bottles and caps. Would appreciate some advice, thank you.
