Has anyone ever gotten a ticket after having an accident for "failure to use a designated lane"?
I was in a pretty horrible roll-over car accident, after swerving to avoid a squirrel. Embarassing, I know. My car was totalled, and in the hospital the police officers (who were generally very kind and sympathetic) gave me a ticket for "failing to use a designated lane". I was wondering if anyone else had ever gotten a ticket like this, how they pled, and if they were able to convince the judge they didn't deserve the 2 points on their license?
I don't contest the fact that I was, indeed, not in my lane. But I'm just wondering whether the courts would show me sympathy - I've lost my car and my insurance rates are already going up. The ticket is just such a slap in the face.
Anyway, thoughtful advice is appreciate.
4 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhat are your opinions about parking spaces designated as "parent with infant" parking?
For those who haven't seen them, these are parking spots in close proximity to a store, similar to disabled parking. I have even, on occasion, seen them closer to the store than disabled parking. Do you think these spots are appropriate or necessary?
