I'm 24 years old and finally found the man of my dreams. I'm pregnant with my first, which was a total suprise! Also my boyfriend has a 4 year old daughter who we have every weekend. I absolutely love and adore both of them and never been happier!

  • Getting another sono to check baby's growth?

I'm 27 weeks and 5 days and I'm HUGE! I had an appointment today and everything was ok but as soon as he measured my stomach he said he wanted to schedule another sono to make sure the baby is growing ok, but he wouldn't really go into why. I had a sono at 21 weeks and that came out normal. I'm just confused because I'm really big and I'm doing well on my weight gain. Any one else had this happen?

  • 18 and pregnant with her third child....?

Ok so I have an 18 year old cousin who I just found out this morning is pregnant with her 3rd child. Her other 2 boys are are 8 months and 20 months old. I'm fairly certain she's getting pregnant on purpose. She got her GED when she was pregnant with her first so school is not an issue, but she doesn't work and lives with her parents still and relies on them for everything!

I'm not a very judgemental person and I understand accidents happen especially among teenagers, but I find it hard to believe she had 3 accidental pregnancies in 3 years!!

I just wonder why teenagers think it's ok to have a bunch of babies and rely on everyone else (i.e. their parents, welfare, etc...) to take care of them!

  • What movie does your child watch over and over and over and over again...?

and you can actually stand to watch it? What movie drives you nuts??

For me, I like Cars....I don't mind watching it everyday.

But I'm getting so tired of Underdog! I get a headache when I hear the opening theme song!

  • Do you have a relative or close friend who can't get pregnant?

If so, do you feel guilty for being pregnant.

2 of my sisters and I have PCOS. My one sister tried for 5 years to get pregnant and now her only hope to have a baby is IVF so her and my brother-in-law are in the process of adopting right now. My pregnancy was a big accident. I had 2 miscarriages in the past and my boyfriend and I decided that we weren't going to try because he didn't really want anymore kids (he has a 4 year old daughter) and I didn't want to get my hopes up to find out I'd need IVF too. Well long story short, I got pregnant on the pill. It was a total schock. At first I was really freaked out, but as I get farther along I'm starting to get more excited. The thing is, I feel guilty for being excited. I don't even like talking about it if my sister is around. The only time we talked about it was when i was 7 weeks. I was in a car accident and I called the doctor and he said as long as there was no bleeding or cramping I should be ok. She didn't think that was right advice and she thought I made it up so we got in a small fight. My friends all want me to post ultrasound and baby bump pics on myspace but I'm afraid to hurt my sister's feelings.

Did anyone else feel guilty like this?

  • How do you try to remain calm in stressful situations while pregnant?

Ok here's whats going on with my job right now:

I work at a small insurance agency, just the boss, me, and another woman. Business is super slow right now. The boss can barely pay the bills and she gave us our paychecks today and warned us they may bounce. Also the boss is bipolar and is in a very very very bad low right now. She expects us to call random people out of the phone book and do quotes, but we just get hung up on so or told "no thanks" so she tells us we're not trying hard enough. The other woman is thinking about quitting leaving only me, and I know the boss won't hire anyone new to replace her. She won't let us turn the furnace up past 63 (and it's 4 degrees outside!) She bought us each an electric heater but the building is old and the windows are very drafty and our offices are very very large so the heaters don't help much. I can't afford to go out and buy a bunch of warm clothes, especially since i need to start buying maternity clothes. I hoping to buy new pants this weekend that fit because my belly is growing, but if my paycheck bounces, I'm screwed!

And I hate to say it but the only thing keeping me going is knowing that if the office goes out of business, I can get unemployment!

I have bad days too but I always try to stay optimistic and keep a smile on my face but it's getting really really hard to do right now...like this morning, I was up at 4 a.m. trying to thaw our pipes and then i got the worst morning sickness I've ever had (honestly! I cried it was so bad!) and then my step-daughter threw a temper tantrum that went on and off for about an hour, but i still managed to come in with a smile on my face.

Looking for a new job is out of the question. Before I was pregnant, I'd say it's the perfect cocktail night, but that's obviously out of the question tonight. Any advice to try to stay sane?

  • What is safe to give a 4 year old for a cough?

I know you can't cough medicine for children her age anymore, but is there anything I can do to help her? She just has a cough that won't stop. She's not complaining of a sore throat and she's running around and playing like normal, but she keeps coughing. It's not flemmy, but it's not really a dry cough either....just a plain cough. I noticed she coughs worse when she lays down. She started coughing a little bit a couple days ago, but tonight it seems bad (she's been coughing in her sleep) Is there anything I can give her to help right now?

  • Question about sending a child to bed without dinner....?

Do you actually not feed them? Or do you give them something eventually. My boyfriend and I are trying to get his daughter to sit down and eat dinner better. She always saying now she doesn't like it, even though we know she does. We started giving her 3 choices: eat what we're eating, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or nothing. Last night she chose nothing, but sat there and cried at the table that she wanted scrambled eggs and we told her that wasn't one of her choices. Then after we finished eating and cleaned up, she cried she was hungry so again we gave her the choices and she didn't want them so we gave her nothing. After a little bit we gave her some cereal so she wouldn't go to bed hungry. Later we talked about it and my boyfriend remembers being little and actually going to bed without eating and he thinks maybe we should of done that, where as I think we should have just made the pb&j and set it on the table for her. I figure if she's as hungry as she says she is, she'll eat it eventually.

So my question is, what do you do in this situation? She's 4 years old, are we being to hard on her? I just worry if we don't start cracking down on her eating dinner with us, she'll only ever want to eat scrambled eggs and dry cereal.

  • I asked this earlier, but I want to hear some more answers.....?

    Pregnancy is.....

Finish the sentence! I just read a few funny things like:

Pregnancy is....knowing you'll be hungry again in 15 minutes.

    Pregnancy is....peeing on demand.

Pregnancy is....wearing the same pants you wore yesterday.

So what do you think pregnancy is? It can be serious or funny!

  • What section do you think abortion questions should be asked in?

I think when people ask a question about abortion, it automatically goes in the pregnancy section. Then there are always answers that say "Ask in a different section besides pregnancy!"

I want to know what section people think abortion questions should be asked in?

    Here's my opinion:

I'm pro-choice, but I hate abortions. I think abortion should be an absolute last resort. I think the questions should be asked in the pregnancy and parenting section because most of us who frequent this section are parents, soon-to-be parents, or people who want to be parents more then anything. If anyone can hopefully convince someone not to have an abortion, it's us. There are mother's on here that were young and alone when they were pregnant and can prove that you can survive being a young single mother. There are people on here that are trying to conceive or adopt that can show that there are good people who are ready and willing to be a parent to that child.

I think some people think that abortion questions shouldn't be asked at all, but most of these questions are from very upset and confused people seeking personal advice or support. It breaks my heart when people call them murderers.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, I just wonder what other people think.

  • What has been the hardest chore for you to do since you became pregnant?

For me, right now, it's cleaning out the fridge. Stuff seems to get shoved to the back and before I even open the container, I think about how bad it might smell and I start to dry heave!

  • Was there something special or something to remember the day you conceived your baby?

Like an anniversary or a birthday or maybe a holiday?

For me, it was a bad snowstorm which knocked out our power for 2 1/2 days. No tv...no heat...had to stay warm and entertain ourselves with something lol

  • What should I get as hand-me-downs and what should I get brand new?

My boyfriend and I don't have a lot of money so we can't afford alot of top-of-the-line brand new items. I have a few friends and family who are offering me some of their old stuff. Also my boyfriend's mom is a yard sale junkie and told me not to buy anything til she checks out the yard sales this spring.

Is there anything I should definitely buy brand new and not get used? I already have a few cribs offered to me that aren't that old so I'm for sure going to use one of those. I know hand-me-down clothes will be ok, I'm mostly worried about items like high-chairs and strollers and other larger items. Also, is there an age limit on items I should worry about? My boyfriends mom has a pack-and-play but it's like 11 years old...is it still safe?

  • More hiccups while pregnant?

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I seem to get hiccups more now that I'm pregnant. They're not always bad hiccups either, sometimes I hiccup 2 or 3 times and it stops....other times I have to do all the things like holding my breath and drink water upside down. Am I crazy?

  • What's your biggest pregnancy pet peeve right now?

Mine is people commenting on what I eat. My boyfriend's mom made us a huge plate of cookies. I ate 2, he ate the rest (well over a dozen!) When he told her they were all gone, she pulled me aside and said I shouldn't have eaten so many and it's not good to weigh 400 pounds when i have this baby. She assumed I ate them all!

Then on Christmas Eve, there was a big party at my grandma's and I went to get a second helping of food and a bunch of my family members kept telling me I shouldn't eat so much when I'm pregnant. They didn't know I ate a light lunch because I knew I'd be eating alot that night!

    It's just driving me nuts!
