Are the Foley revalations an "October Surprise" from the Democrats or Republicans?

8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAccording to a recent Gallup Poll Republicans are more likely to vote for a minority president. Why?
This poll, shows that Republicans are more likely than democrats to vote for a black, jewish, hispanic, mormon, or athiest presidential candidate. Democrats led for women (not a minority as they make up 53.2% of the population) and gays.
Why in your mind, are republicans so much more likely to vote for a minority president? Is it because the party was founded to combat slavery and pushed through the civil rights ammendment in the 60's? Or is it something else that makes them want to promote a minority to the most powerful position in the world?
5 AnswersElections1 decade agoShould men be afforded the "right" of virtual abortions?
Situation: A Male and woman choose to have sex. Woman is impregnated. At this point, only the woman get's a 2nd chance to renig on her decision to risk becomming a parent. If she aborts, she's legally and finacially free of all the responsibilities of parenthood forever. If she keeps it, he keeps it. He's 1/2 financially responsible for life. That's why we now have to put our SSN on everything so the Feds can track "deadbeat dads" who don't want to pay for their children.
To afford equal protection under the law, shouldn't the male be given the opportunity to "abort" his parental rights. This way, both genders have control over their financial and parenthood futures. Essentially, what I'm asking is if a woman gets a 2nd chance to say "I don't want to be a parent" shouldn't the male get the same treatment.
Obviously, this is not considering rape/incest situations. The only difference really in a virtual abortion is the fetus survives.
9 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoDoes Air America fail, because tax supported liberal radio (NPR) does not have to worry about profitability?
Radio stations typically maintain a profit margin of 4-6%. Government funding of National Public Radio means that it never has to worry about profitability and thus can forward an idiology that cannot be supported by commercial radio. This advantage is one of the main reasons that Air America is failing. NPR does not have to make money, but Air America does, as NPR gathers the liberal audience Air America loses listeners and slowly dies.
Would the liberal cause be better off if NPR was not a leftwing entity because Air America might survive in more markets than Boston, NYC and San Francisco?
