Is my grandfather a martial arts expert?
So, the other day I was watching my grandfather's dog for him at the park while he sat on a bench. As I was returning with the dog, I saw my grandfather having an argument with a middle-age guy. The guy swung at him, but my grandfather ducked and then picked him up and trew him to the ground. Then, he knee'd him in the face. How did my grandfather do this? What skills did this require?

My question is this: What is the United States' biggest economic problem? Is it healthcare, or social security, or military spending, or one of the many others plaguing our society? Facts and opinions are appreciated.

That is, what should we be working hardest to fix? What problem(s) should politicians be trying to address? What cause should have more money or effort put into it than it does now?
5 AnswersPolitics8 years agoEveryone complains about corruption but does nothing to stop it, and this is a democracy?
Remember Watergate? Iran-contra? Whitewater? The Bay of Pigs? Teapot Dome? Even good old Credit Mobilier? We've had our fair share of corruption, both by the president and his staff, for a century and a half now - and these are only a few of the incidents we know about. Obama should hardly be blamed for doing something that's been done periodically, with increasing frequency, for so long now. By now it's our fault. We need to raise up, make ourselves heard. Apparently the checks-and-balances system just isn't enough. We The People need to do some "checking" of our own, Daniel Shays style. C'mon folks, let's make this a real democracy. Make yourself heard.

1 AnswerFriends8 years agoHow does one justify a cigarette addiction?
I've smoked cigarettes before. In fact, I once bought a pack and smoked three a day for a few days. I noticed that the first one got me lightheaded for about 3 minutes. The second did this to a lesser extent, and the third had almost no effect on me. What, then, is the point in a raging cigarette addiction, to the tune of one or two packs a day? I can almost understand addiction to other drugs - used as a method of escape, drugs like cocaine, heroin or even marijuana produce dramatic changes in consciousness for extended periods. Cigarettes do next to NOTHING, except cause a lot of cancer and cost a lot of money. Can anyone, smokers or non-smokers, justify this addiction that is perhaps the most widespread addiction the world has ever seen? Could someone please tell me why?
4 AnswersMental Health8 years agoIs anyone else sick of the Liberal-Conservative debate?
It's blatantly clear that most politicians lie, liberal or conservative. American society and economy both suck, and neither of these schools of thought have helped it very much in the last 50 years. What's the point in debating liberal-vs.-conservative if they're BOTH ineffective? Does anyone agree, or am I alone in this?
