A checkered past. I've been a shoe salesman, a pizza driver, a book store clerk, a high school teacher, a car salesman, a professional musician, a soundman, a stage manager, a welder, an analytical chemist, a lab manager, a carpenter, an auto mechanic. I've done a lot of reading on the World Wars, and I'm also interested in current military technology. I have studied several martial arts including Tae Kwan Do Mu Duk Kwan, Shotokan, and Aikido. I've never voted a straight party ticket in my life, but i've voted in every election, primary, local, or national, since i was eligible (1968) "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." Mohandas Gandhi "Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity." Read more quotes from Albert Einstein http://somethingblack.com/einstein.htm
Looking for pricing info on Colt M1911 mfg. 1913?

Would most politicians take the time to personally call a heckler....twice?
Here's a link. I'm a Dem, and I'm referencing Newsmax. Go figure.
16 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow long will my son be in juvenile hall?
My son thinks he's a gangsta. He's 17 and he basically thinks he doesn't have to obey law. He fought the law, and the law won.
He was caught shoplifting and was to pay a $400 fine. He didn't get a job until a month ago (even though he's known he had to pay the fine for 3 months) and says he isn't going to pay the fine. The money is due on the 20th of November, and I refuse to bail him out on this.
Assuming they issue a bench warrant for him, how long will it be before they pick him up?
How long will he spend in juve?
Will they give him an extension if he asks for one?
Will they come and arrest me instead?
Any help in knowing what to expect would be appreciated.
13 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoMedial ligamnet in dog's knee is torn. Prognosis?
My dog was diagnosed with a torn medial ligament in his knee. He's 7 years old, 60 lbs, and very active. He's on medications (prednisone and a pain killer. He has improved some, and now uses the leg gingerly when he has to. Injury occured about a week ago. Has anyone had any experience with this? Surgery will be at least $1500 and i want to avoid it if possible. Thanks!
Yes, he is under a doctor's care, but he is somewhat vague as to the prognosis.
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhat is Homeland Security doing to prevent terrorists from purchasing nuclear materials?
The GAO just did an undercover sting in which they were able to obtain a licence for nuclear material without appearing in person, in 28 days. The licence was mailed to a UPS store. They then altered the document and were able to successfully purchase enough nuclear material to build a dirty bomb.
Looks like our security priorities are a little screwed up.

4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoMri- guided ultrasound therapy for fibroids?
My wife has a 15 cm fibroid. She is 50 years old and just graduated from engineering school. She would like to get a job, but a hysterectomy will put her out of the market for longer than she'd like. Uterine Arterial Embolization is not an option since she is allergic to iodine used in the procedure.
My question, has anyone had MRI-guided ultrasound therapy for this condition? How did it work? Any leads on where it might be performed (other than Mt. Sinai) in the Northeast?
Thanks

2 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoHow can you stop Vista from asking for permission for every file?
I had a motherboard crash. I'm trying to transfer the files from the old hard drive to the new computer and Vista is asking for permissions (thru the security tab) for every single file. Is their a way to stop this behavior? I have 46 gig to transfer and this is taking forever.

8 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoMy son has been threatened with bodily harm and they know where he lives?
If they show up at the door, what are my self defense rights as a home owner. My son is 16.
We're talking about four teenagers, one who was recently released from juvie where he was jailed for multiple counts of burglary and assault.
If they show up at my door, where is the line drawn where I can use potentially deadly force. I don't own firearms, but I do own edged weapons, principaly a katana, and I have 20 years of martial arts training including shotokan, Moo Duk Kwan, Kendo, and Aikido.
I'm 60 years old, and really not in shape for prolonged combat. So, I would basically have to rely on first strike to severely injure.

If you want your rights, you have to use them responsibly, and not take potshots (i'm talking about literally shooting) at American troops on training missions.

a "government of the people, by the people, and for the people"
Please don't respond with liberal and conservative diatribes. We've all been there, and done that.
Do we need to change the voting procedure, do we need to demand accountability from our elected, and other public officlals. And if so, how do we do that?
I have no personal agenda to promote, I'm looking for real ideas, not rhetoric.
Have at it.
