  • Problem with 1989 Buick Century Remote Rearview Mirror

I am trying to get the rear view mirror remote adjust switch working on a 1989 Buick Century. They were working and then quit. Replaced the switch and harness in the driverside door with no luck. No blown fuses I could find in the glovebox fusepanel. Haynes manual at the Public Library does not show the mirrors in the wiring diagram. I am at a loss trying to follow the wires through the taped harness without knowing where they originate or what colours they should be.

    Any sugestions?

  • Question about brewing using Coopers from Australia?

I have a can of Coopers Malt Extract that a friend gave me some 2 or 3 years back. Mostly I brew using a bag in box brew kit, but I came across the can when cleaning and thought I'd give it a try. I noticed the wort smells a bit, well 'swampish' is the only word I can think of. There is no expiry date on the can, so I have no idea of how old it is.

Has any one noticed if Coopers always smells this way? Could it have gone bad, and how can you tell? I have heard that some canned goods, especially acidic ones, can turn toxic in the can, but I've always thought that was spoilage, and the inside of the can showes no corrosion.

I've seen it written that if you can get it to ferment, it will not hurt you. Can anyone prove or disprove this statement?

  • Does anyone 'ICE' their phone?

ICE is an acronym for In Case Of Emergency. If you are found unconscious and you have a cell phone, emergency personnel are trained to look for ways of contacting members of your family. One thing they look for is the ICE prefacing entry's in your cell's phone book. This came from the bombings in London a few years back. What you do is you prefix a few of your entry's like 'ICE Mom 555-0807' and 'ICE Bill 555-8845'. The police or paramedics would then know that these are the numbers you wanted called if there is a problem.

  • Postal address formats?

Why is it the address format for Canada follows the form of :

    Addressee, Office#, Building#, Street/Ave, City, Postal/Zip Code, Country

Where as Americans will write their address

    Addressee, Street/Ave, Building#, Office#, City, Postal/Zip Code, Country.

In other words, Canada starts off at the smallest point of reference, and expands on it, where the American system starts at the street level with the actual location thrown almost as an afterthought.

    Examples are:

    490 Sussex Drive

    Ottawa, Ontario K1N 1G8

    Canada

    Two Prudential Plaza

180 North Stetson Avenue, Suite 2400

    Chicago, IL 60601

  • Indoor Soccer for Minors?

If you are involved in Indoor Minor Soccer does your league have a 'No Boards' rule? Up until this spring our kids could play the ball off the boards which made it a fast, exciting game to play or watch. Now there is a touchline drawn 1 meter from the board and the plan is to play it like outdoor soccer, but on the smaller field. Did any other league go through this transition and how did you find it affected the game?

  • Software suggestions?

Software for organizing a book collection?

I am trying to help this grandmotherly old woman who, God bless, collects books. Classics for the most part. Everything from Hardy Boys to Zane Grey. She wants a computer program to organize her collection so she can tell what she has, in what condition, and what it is worth. I figure a data base should be fairly easy to set up, but I was wondering if anyone had any recomendations. I should mention that the woman in question types by looking at the keyboard for the letter, looking at the screen to make sure the letter typed was the correct one, then looking for the next, so something without a whole lot of typing is good.

  • Is the glass half empty or half full or what?

Traditional answers to this question are an indicator of optimism / pessimism. I am looking for more light hearted answers. Responses along the line of 'The glass is supplied with the basic minimum required amount of liquid with additional space for future upgrades' (Computer Retailer) Did I mention you could also indicate your vocation?
