why do I fear dogs barking in my neighborhood?
whenever my neighbors dogs start barking and barking, my heart races. I want quietness in my neighborhood. I have told the city council my concerns, and the only answer I get is, "Wear earplugs,' Or "go in your house and you wont hear them"
Now I want to be outside sometimes, and I never know what sets the dogs to bark. If I complain to the city cop or to the county, my plea for help is ignored.
I am a prisoner in my own home. Not even the mayor of my town will help me with this problem. This problem has been going on for years.
I wish I could move, but this is not an option

2 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agowhy cant someone make a battery that will run a heater?
I am looking for a heater which you could put into a horse's tank. I have a propane heater, but the wind either blows the flame out, or the tank runs out of fuel too quickly. Its hard for me to transport the propane cylinders, but if there were a battery operated heater, I could install that in my pickup ( extra battery doing double duty) if you know what I mean.

2 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoI suspect that my neighbor is dangerous?
I dont know whether he is dealing in drugs or just schitzophrenic. I do know that he has two big , mean dogs who is keeping everyone in the neighborhood upset. and when my mom and I went to him to ask him to get his dogs to quit trying to attack the neighbors, he threw us out of his house. We never threatened him. He was the one who threatened. . What do I need to do to get the authorities ( police ) to investigate this guy? I am afraid he will eventually hurt someone, because of his previous actions. We think his wife is afraid of him too, because of the way she acted when he was in the room. .
3 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoWhen a policeman wont come into your neighborhood?
even when I invite him to come to see what is going on, how dangerous is this? I feel threatened by my neighbor, because of his past actions towards me and my family. This one guy acts so vicious, I am afraid what he could do if he becomes really angry. I have tried my best to communicate with him, concerning his vicious dogs. Instead of wanting to work with me and my mom, He threw us out of his house. I dont feel safe in my part of the world. I am not the only one in my neighborhood who doesnt like whats going on, but no matter what we say, the situation still exists.Other people have voiced their concerns to me and my mom, but they dont want to get involved. We need a protector for our area. Help!!!!

This is a safety concern to me and my family. Its also a nuisance abatement issue for the rest of my neighborhood.
When I and my family first moved to this town, it was a nice, quiet town, people were willing to work with their neighbors if a problem arose. And the city law enforcement was willing to help the citizens of the town to combat problems too.
Things have changed dramatically since then. it seems a certain family moved into town and now they are running the said town. I am afraid of my neighbors dog, and they know it. . I have to do my work outside my home to keep the yard looking nice. yet my neighbors have told me repeatedly, "dont go where the dogs can see you." They wont put up a privacy fence either. I know this may sound like an old saw, but I am really concerned, especially now that I know my neighbors have purposefully trained their dogs to be vicious. ( I heard the man who owns them say it.) I have told every law agency I know about this, and they just tu
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoIf a town fails to provide peace to its citizens?
Can the state or county court provide for the resolution of a seemingly unsolved problem of that town?
I live in a town where there are no laws against dangerous or nuisance dogs. Where I live, I feel unsafe in my own yard. There is no law on the books stating neighbors are to prevent their dogs from harrassing people. Please help me find the answer. I am at my wits end. the problem is getting worse.
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoShould dogs be trained to be mean?
I have a neighbor who owns two large dogs, a rottweiler mix and a pitbull mix. Now both of these dogs are just across the alley from where I live, and even though they are behind a wire fence, I feel unsafe whenever they savagely bark at me whenever they see me. I cannot work in my own back yard without the dogs continually harrassing me. They will contine their savage barking until I go into my home. I have asked my neighbors to please get the dogs to quit acting so mean towards me and he told me, "This is the way I have trained them."
Now these dogs are not police dogs or guard dogs for a large company. They are suppose to be family pets. Am I wrong to expect the dogs to ignore me when I am in my own yard, minding my own business? I am afraid of these dogs, and my neighbors dont care. I cant get the local law to protect me either.
also, I live close enough to these dogs that if they decide to hold a bark -a-thon at night, my sleep gets disrupted. Can anyone advise me

This is how a good dog should act. watch the video. I wish my neighbors could see this. The way their dogs acted around their own children, if the kids had tried some of the things the little boy does in this video to these dogs, they would have gotten bitten.
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoIs there a place where I can rent a friend?
I know this is a strange question to ask, but because of my husbands work style, he works at night and sleeps in the day. I cant ask friends over because he doesnt want them to be there when he is home. The friends I have work in the daytime and sleep at night. I sleep late in the mornings, then tend to my horse in the afternoon. My friends have their own family they spend time with at night, so they cant come see me at night when my husband isnt at home. I feel so alone. I cant afford to go the action places( movies, bowling alleys, etc) because of lack of funds
I wish there were such an organization in my area. I would be glad to take them to dinner or supper, just to chat.
thanks for listening. I am sorry if I sound pathetic. My neighbors are making me a nervous wreck because of the dog situation( theirs , not mine)
1 AnswerFriends1 decade agoShould savage dogs be allowed in town?
I have some neighbors who live across the alley from me whose dogs, even though they are behind a wire fence, tries to attack me when they see me on my side of the alley. Since we have a dumpster to put our trash in in the alley, I cant do this job myself because of the savage dogs. I am truley afraid that they could jump that fence and attack me. These are big dogs, one is a pit bull, the other is a rottweiler mix. I have told my city council about this, and they say" thats your problem" and point to me. Is there anyone out there who can help me and my neighbors?
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoif I quit answering questions that doesnt mean I have no opinion?
it only means that I am tired of being hit over the head by someone just because I didnt answer the way she thought I should. i wont say who did this, its not important enough to get into a shouting match. But her latest answer to my answer( thank goodness it was on a private page) was very hurtful. I dont know if this Q&A is worth having or not. I dont need to be hurt by strangers. I dont mean to hurt anyone, and I dont think it fair of someone to hurt back just because I was too naive maybe

2 AnswersWeather1 decade agoDo other people live in a community where they feel they are in prison?
I feel I am a prisoner in my own home. I cant sleep the hours I need to because of my neighbor's howling dogs. They howl at the trains which go through our town. This howling wakes me up , then I cant go back to sleep. Some days I feel dead on my feet. Our city council cant do anything about the problem because we aren't " up to code." Apparently that means people's dogs can do anything they want to. This isnt the only problem our town has. We also have to put up with people's junk and if the neighbors want head high weeds we can't get them to clean up either. I wish I could afford to move, but we don't have the money to do so. Even prisoner's probably get treated better than this town's citizens do. I am not the only person in this town who doesnt like the situation. But , what can we do?
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoThe phrase , "spare the rod and Spoil the child' is misquoted, dont you agree?
A lot of folks see that verse in the Bible, "spare the rod and spoil the child, " and they immediately think a rod is for punishment. But thats not what it means at all.
Jesus was referring to children as a shepherd refers to his sheep. We see pictures of the shepherd standing close to his flock, with a crooked staff in his hand. Now I didnt understand this passage until someone explained it to me.
The shepherd didnt hit the sheep with his staff whenever they took a wrong turn. No, he used the crook of the staff to get them gently by the neck and "steered " them from the path they took if they went the wrong direction.
This is how parents need to treat their children also. Whenever the child takes a wrong turn, the parent should sit down with the child and explain what is wrong with this or that. And explain it in words the child can understand. Guidance with kindness goes a long way for the childs betterment. Spanking never taught anything but violence..
