  • How many times is Nick Diaz going to fight in one calender year?

Right now since april hes on a fight every othe month pace.

i guess thats what happens when you punch your opponent in the face 150 times and they barely touch you . . .

How many times you think he will fight from this april to next?

How many is the most you have heard of at a high level?

  • Yoshihiro Akiyama v. Alan Belcher fight . . . thoughts? scoring? coming out to Con te Partiro?

    My thoughts:

WOW for Akiyama coming out to Con te Partiro . . . if you missed it heres the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcrfvP11Hbo

i give him props for that, haha. I like that song but wow for being at a UFC event.

I thought Belcher won. I'll have to rewatch. I guess they gave him the first and then the final round on? one take down?

I did think it kind of served him right a little after he put his arms up and started sayin USA USA and then putting his arms up next to the ref basically saying I know I won.

  • Does anyone else hate the Heavyweight UFC division?

    I just can't stand it.

Its so thin on talent I dont even respect the champions in that division.

I also just dont like when guys are fighting with huge weight differences, it just does not prove anything to me about the fighters skill or abilities because even 5 or 10 pounds can make a huge difference in lower weight classes.

I understand why cause there are so few people who are that big, but still . . .

I guess we need the weight class, but does anyone else just not really care or respect it nearly as much as the other weight classes?

  • What should the sharks do?

    Now the sharks . . .

They have been an amazing team since Thornton came over from boston . . . in the regular season. You look at their regular season and all you can think is that this team is possibly the most stacked in the NHL, right? I do.

So they need to do something about the playoffs because I have no Idea how they drop off so badly. They have said as much in the Sharks Organization and I think its clear now its not just the coaching staff (if it wasnt before). They promised to do something, what will it be?

They have such a stacked team they have no reason on splashing in Free Agency. I see something much more along the lines of an even trade of 2 teams who think their players could do better on both sides if they swapped teams . . .

    The re-signed clowe.

    What would be next?

Will they actually do much of anything?

Must be really hard for a GM to know he has put together such a great team that just cant win when it counts.

  • Kings making moves . . . Smyth . . . on the road again.?

Smyth is going to the Kings . . .

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283667

    Thoughts?

    Playoff implications?

    Good fit?

    Healthy?

Does he still have something left?

When this guy left EDM he showed what it was to have a dirty goal front of the net nose for the puck, I could not believe they traded him (esp when they get penner a complete bust for the money). Did fine in NY. In COL not from the numbers, but from the games i watched he didnt seem like the same player . . . maybe the system?

In LA I think with Smyth and Scuderi and their young players coming into their own, if they dont make the playoffs theres some big questions to answer.

    Well . . . ?

  • What percentage of hockey NHL rumors are true?

With visions of sugarplum faries dancing in our heads . . .

your head can spin from the rumors in the NHL can't they. Get you SO excited about what your team is doing . . .

BUT do those ever happen. What percent of all the rumors trade deadline, offseason, FA pickups are true. Its pretty low isnt it?

Any favorite websites that seem to get it right?

  • Your FAVORITE bad boy is back folks! Ray Emery gonna be tearin' it up in Philly . . . Thoughts?

Ray Emery is coming back in philly unless someone swoops in with a better offer (doubtful).

    Thoughts?

I think he is young and passionate, but needs to get himself under control. I think hos timeout may have been a good wake up call that hes maybe on his last strike.

  • Toews a good captain?

I have watched the hawks sporadically throughout the season . . . when I could. Not a fan, but I know they are a good young team and fun to watch . . .

I have had a feeling thru the season, maybe more of a suspicion, that has been amplified throughout the playoffs.

That Toews is not a good captain.

Part of being a captain is being a good example backing your team and just being someone to look to on the ice and emulate. At that I think he is really good, he plays well and hard and is edgy without going too far. The style any fan can appreciate.

That said the rest of his team does not really seem to follow him, The vets seem to do what they want and the young guys really do what they want and are somewhat out of control at times, not led. Both their mouths and the play. He seems like a questionable captain to me. I think havlat or sharp would be better . . .

I dont think that you can much argue with their results this playoffs. But I think what happened last game, playing out of control, has been masked by their winning so far, but just WAINTING to happen. They just seem to be unled most of the time . . . and I think Quenville's success is partly that he took over some captain duties by being a stronger coach.

Overall I think its a good choice for the future, so he learns how to be a good captain now and can be one for years, but right now I think he is EH!

  • I am JAROMIR JAGR and have a grody flavor saver where will I end up?

    Well?

Regular season - Okay, but well below his standard and his salary

He had a perfomace clause to kick in an extension that he didnt hit.

Post season - Looked like old Jagr. Even you Jagr haters have to admit that he did look like he cared and was playing his *** off to win (always the knock on him he doesnt care). On top of that he is/was leading in points in the playoffs.

I think he may have redeemed himself in the eyes of either NYR or some other team. I have been inclined to agree with the Jagr hate train at times, but I was impressed. You?

    Questions:

    Did he redeem himself?

Will It lead to him getting a payday?

Where do you think he will go?

  • Anyone else notice the hardest seed in the playoffs is the STARS spot?

To win they will assuming they win and the Pens win. They will have to go through.

    Anaheim Ducks

    San Jose Sharks

    Detroit Redwings

    Pittsburgh Penguins

WOW, those are the 4 teams I picked as favorites to win the Cup. Wouldn't that be a crazy accomplishment?

Long way to go for them, but I would have to think everyone would respect them for that.

  • Marty Turco, king of the embellish??

I like Marty Turco, very fun to watch out of the net, all and all a solid tender and seemiingly good guy.

BUT man hahah, does he embellish. You come thru the crease and his head snaps back or the net magically pops off the moorings. I like the guy and don't really care, if he does it too emphatically the refs are gonna call him. He knows how to sell and get the edge.

    What do you guys think?

  • Washington or boston . . .?

Personally I am rooting for washington. I'd like to at least see Ovechkin get some playoff experience . . .

    Boston Schedule.

Sat, Mar 29 Ottawa 1:00 pm

Sun, Mar 30 at Buffalo 6:00 pm

Wed, Apr 2 at New Jersey 7:00 pm

Fri, Apr 4 at Ottawa 7:30 pm

Sat, Apr 5 Buffalo 7:00 pm

    Washington

Sat, Mar 29 at Florida 7:00 pm

Tue, Apr 1 Carolina 7:00 pm

Thu, Apr 3 Tampa Bay 7:00 pm

Sat, Apr 5 Florida 7:00 pm

Boston is up by two points with a game in hand. That said look at the schedules. Washington can easily go 4-0 (3-1 to be conservative)and I would probably think IMO that Boston could easily go 1-4 or 2-3 to be conservative.

4 points plus the two that they are up =+6

    6 point = +6

I see them being tied and they will be either tied or washington takes it outright. What do you think?? That is my honest conservative opinion.

  • Can Dallas Be an Effective Playoff Team (don't just root for your team)?

Dallas has been a very nice story this year. They whiffed on all the big name off-season free agents. Despite that fact they have seemingly run through most all comers.

Their shut-down defense especially on the penalty kill coupled with with scoring across their roster, meaning you can't focus on one guy, has given them an impressive record. The second best in hockey.

They have now bolstered their chances by finally adding a big player in Richards.

I definitely think they have improved their team and dont think they have just had a "lucky" season so far. They seem to play a very effective game for the regular season and when they get a lead and go into shutdown good luck.

Does this style translate to the post season? What do you think? Where would you rank them?

Real answers no just "stars suck, go buffalo" please.

  • What to do with Malkin and the Pens???

Malkin has been going goal and point crazy now that he is the first line center with crosby out

Malkin has clearly showed his true self. He really is a number one center. Unfortunately the Pens have Crosby and that position is filled. Therefore Malkin has been stuck with centering a less talented second line or as a winger to crosby. Both leave him not scoring to his potential.

I think it is obvious that crosby has #1 center locked up.

    What to do with him?

    Winger?

    Center Second line?

Try and divide the talent between Crosby and Malkin?

I vote for them to work out the two line system before the playoffs. Because I don't care how hot and talented any one line is, in my mind Anaheim showed Ottawa that you can't that way, at least against them and probably some of the other teams Det, Dal.

  • Richards TB for Smith DAL?

Oh my I don't know if I want to believe this. Saw it on yahoo. Am I the only one who thinks they should have gotten Lecavlier or St. Louis ???

Maybe they need a little more size than St. Louis, but I don't like it honestly.

  • Teemu and duck bashing with Ross McKeon as your tour operator?

Apparently Ross McKeon has decided to go on a duck-bashing terror. He rips on Teemu and the ducks.

They WILL lose in the first round if they even make the playoffs is his take.

    Did he forget:

    A. that they are the hottest team in hockey

    B. They have the fourth best record in hockey despite a slow start

    C. That they are banged up and they have been to some degree all year.

    D. They just added Teemu

    E. They have 5-6 million in cap space for the deadline

    F. They are the defending champs

    G. They hold their own against the elite teams including Detroit.

    H. All of the above

C'mon buddy, you can get mad and think its a littl underhanded to have players come back late in the season like this, but they are within the rules and it happened. But for you to make these jackass comments as you have done other occasions too . . . c'mon.
