"She (author and theater critic Mary T. McCarthy) did not so much review a play as pen a crushing brief against it"?
i read this in a wire service obituary of Ms. McCarthy in 1989, which appeared in the WVU student newspaper, the Daily Atheneum, or DA, as it is known. That's the gist of the quote, if I don't have it verbatim... i can't seem to find the particular obituary on-line, but i consider the quote memorable and clever and would like to know the person to whom it should be ascribed
1 AnswerTheater & Acting1 decade agowhere can i find a copy of a short story by woody allen?
i read it in college, and i think it is called "the kugelmas episode", or perhaps "the kugelmas incident" it's about a literature professor who acquires a machine that will let him enter into his favorite novels as a character.
3 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoLooking for a specific Mark Twain piece, don't know it's title or where to find it?
It includes a tongue-in-cheek autobiography of his infancy, where he describes how he came to be named Samuel, after arguing, debating and discussing his objections to this and other possible names with his father. I remember him saying something to the effect that if his parents insisted on naming him (some particular name), that he would take his leave of them and that would be the end of their relationship.
any help?
