  • Grad school...is this possible?

I hate my job and I want to go to grad school so I can change careers. There is one school near me with the program I want and they do not offer evening or weekend classes, so I would have to quit my job. But even if I got a part time job, there is no way I would be able to pay my mortgage. Is there any way I can make this work?

  • Changing primary residence to a second home?

My sister and I bought a home together. Both of our names are on the loan, with me as the primary owner. Now she is moving out and buying a home with her fiancee. Both their names will be on that loan. The original plan was for us to refinance to get her name off our loan but that is not an option right now.

I understand she cannot have both homes as her primary residence, so what does she have to do to prove that our/my home is not her primary residence anymore? Her loan officer says I need to sign a lease agreement from her to prove she doesn't live there anymore. Is this really necessary? How do you officially change your primary residence when your name is on two loans?

  • Short sale--does this sound right to you?

I made an offer on a home in short sale. My offer was for the asking price. The owner signed my contract, so it went to the bank for approval. One week later the bank comes back and gives me a counter offer for $35,000 more than the asking price.

The bank knows they are going to take a loss on a short sale. So don't they agree to the asking price beforehand? And if they wanted so much more then why didn't they ask for it in the first place? I need to buy soon and they wasted a whole week of my time. I know they technically didn't do anything wrong but do I have a reason to complain, and if so who can I complain to? My realtor is so angry and he was talking about complaining to something called MRS (?)

  • I just made an offer on a home in short sale (about to go to foreclosure)?

The owners accepted my offer and signed my contract, but the contract has to be approved by the bank. It takes up to 5 days for them to approve. My questions is--what happens if other offers come in before the bank approves? Can the owner take another offer even though they already signed mine?

  • What are the "cons" for each type of mortgage?

I feel like the lenders I have spoken with are only telling me the good things about each type of mortgage and not the bad.

Also, how easy is it to refinance to a different type of mortgage? For example, switching from interest only to fixed. Is it possible to do this after only two or three years?

  • How can I keep fresh herbs from spoiling?

Whenever I buy fresh parsley or cilantro, it starts to go bad after only one day. They get soggy and just plain gross. I mainly use them for rabbit food so I buy them very often. But I can't seem to finish a whole bunch without it spoiling. I just keep them in the fridge in the plastic bag from the store. Is there a better way to store them so they don't spoil so quickly?

  • A creditor agreed to remove a late payment from my credit report, but now they're saying they wont?

I've been trying to get Honda Finance to remove a late payment from my credit report. It was partly my fault and partly theirs, because I made the payment on time but due to a problem with their system they didn't accept my online payment. I kept going over people's heads and someone higher up finally agreed to remove it from my credit report, because I have been with them almost 5 years and have never made a late payment. He said it would be removed within 72 hours, which would be by this Wednesday. Today I got a letter in the mail saying the late payment WOULD NOT be removed. Is there anything I can do to make them take it off, since they said they would? I know I need to call but they are closed for the day, so I'm just wondering what I can say in case I have to argue with them when I call.

    Thanks!!

  • Is there any way to find out your credit score for free?

I know how to get a free credit report, but they say if you want to know your score you have to pay a fee.

If I'm applying for a mortgage can I ask the lender what it is? I just got pre-approved and all he said was it was "excellent."

  • Is this a RESPA violation?

I am interested in a condo that is currently owned by a bank due to foreclosure. The information my realtor has for this condo says that potential buyers must be approved through a certain bank. I don't know if it's the same bank that owns the condo. My realtor says this is prohibited by RESPA. He notified the realtor that represents the bank and he said he knew it was a violation and didn't care.

I was doing some research on RESPA and I couldn't find anything that said this is wrong. Is my realtor right?

  • My roommate wrote a bad rent check?

Me and my other roommate give her our share of the rent and then she writes the rent check to Long and Foster. She wrote a bad check this month. All of our names are on the lease. Is this going to affect my credit, even though I didn't write a bad check?

  • Knitters: have you made a Noni carpet bag?

Tell me about it...what yarn did you use, what size needles, and did it come out right? I don't care about finishing, I'm just trying to figure out what I did wrong with the knitting and felting parts.

I tried making the huge carpet bag, and it turned out to be too short and too wide...like a long narrow rectangle. I can't remember the exact dimensions but it was way off what the pattern said it should be. I used the yarn and needle size specified in the pattern, and I checked my gague so I don't know what could have gone wrong. I really want to make this bag but I don't want to waste another 8 hanks of yarn.

Is there any way to make it shrink more widthwise without making it shorter?

  • How do I care for tulip bulbs after the flowers die?

I have some tulip bulbs in a glass vase. There is no soil in the vase, just some plastic spikes the bulbs sit on and there is water up to the roots. There were no care instructions included, so I'm wondering how to care for the bulbs so they grow again.

  • About how much would it cost to have scratches fixed?

My car has some scratches on the rear bumper and sides, near the taillights. How much would it cost to get these removed? I have tried fixing them myself with paint I got from an auto parts store, but it looks like crap.

  • Can you give my rabbit a name?

I just adopted a bunny and the previous owner gave her a really stupid name. I want to give her a new name but I'm really bad at comming up with names.

Nothing stupid or obvious like Flopsy or Thumper please--I can come up with those myself. I like to give animals human names.

Here are some pics of her if that helps...

  • I just tried an avocado for the first time and...?

...it tasted pretty gross! It has a dark green almost black bumpy skin, and it was firm but not totally hard. Was it unripe? What is it supposed to taste like? A lot of people on here seem to love them but I don't understand how that could be when they taste like this.
