  • Am I reading too much into this...?

I have been friends with a guy for about a year while at uni, and we hit it off really well. We have a lot in common, and we joke around with each other. We also talk about everything, like our families and what we want for the future. And he flirts quite a bit. There's definitely something between us.

But, I found out from a mutual friend about a year ago, that my friend has a girlfriend. He has never brought it up, or mentioned it in a conversation. I'm not sure if they're still together or not, and I'm not sure if it'll be weird or awkward to ask him if he is in a relationship. I have been extremely platonic since I heard about the relationship, and I don't intend to get in the way of him and his girl. Do you guys think that his behavior is a bit suspicious, since he has never mentioned his girl to me? I've never seen pics of them on Facebook or Instagram either.

    Thanks for your opinion!

Hi there! I'm a incoming freshman at Texas A&M, and will be majoring in Biochemistry. I have narrowed down my choices to 3 laptops, as noted by the title of the question. So here are the specs:

    Adobe Bundle ($448 value.)

    Microsoft® Office 2010 Starter

    Norton Internet Security™ 2010 (30 Day Trial)

    Price: $869.99

    Macbook Pro 13inch

    --SD card slot

    --Built-in battery (10 hours)

    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor

    4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz

HARD DRIVE 500GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)

    BATTERY OPTIONS 9-cell battery

INTEGRATED WEBCAM Integrated 1.3 MP Webcam

WIRELESS CARDS Dell 1397 Wireless-G edit

VIDEO CARD 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330

INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE 8X CD/DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)

SOUND OPTIONS High Definition Audio 2.0

...and a design for the cover :P

    Price: $829.99

Base Price: $599.99 (so yea, i did a whole bunch of upgrades)

The most I'll be willing to pay for is for the Macbook Pro :P But, please suggest anything that's cheaper. I don't mind buying it online or at Best Buy. It has to be light (5lbs-6lbs), since I'll be lugging it from class to class.

I really like the Macbook Pro, however I'm not sure if I should pay so much for a computer, where I can get a PC for less, and possibly better specs. I'm also concerned about compatibility issues, since my school uses Windows 7, but I am aware of Bootcamp and Parallels. My dad is a real PC fan, so he's doing everything he can to convince me to stick to a PC instead of making the switch. And, he's in love with Dell because he's had a Dell laptop for about 5 years (which he hardly uses)

So, which laptop is right for me? Your input is greatly valued :)

    Cheers

  • Biochemistry vs Aerospace Engineering?

I recently got admitted to Texas A&M for a Biochemistry major. I was really set on Biochem because I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. Then, I heard about Aerospace Engineering, and discovered what a fascinating major (in my opinion) it is. I have a passion for math and physics...but at the same time I love the sciences. I know they are both very different, but career-choice wise, which would be better?

also, is biochem harder than aerospace, or vice versa? thanks!

  • What are my chances of getting accepted into these colleges?

    I applied to Texas A&M and UT-Austin.

    Class Rank: 130/645 (top quarter)

    SAT: CR-580 Math-670 Writing-730 (Total: 1980)

    GPA: 4.05 (weighted)

    Wrote all 3 essays

    Texas resident

    Majors (for UT):

    1st choice- Biochemistry

2nd choice - Undeclared, College of Natural Sciences

    Majors (A&M)

    1st choice - Biochemistry

    2nd choice - Aerospace Engineering

I'll have about 200+ hours of volunteering by the end of this year. I was in varsity track & field freshman year and an athletic trainer sophomore year. And I'm in a few clubs at school (NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, Best Buddies, Prom Committee, and a school-wide volunteer organization). I'm also taking 2 AP courses this year.

If there are any more details i need to include, please let me know. So, what are my chances of getting into these school/majors? I applied in November, but I've become extremely nervous as of late...since I know I won't be hearing back from these schools for quite awhile.

  • Which University of California campus is best for majoring in Biochemistry, or sciences in general?

I'm looking into UC Irvine and UC Davis. I'm not too sure if I can make it into UC San Francisco, UC Los Angeles or UC San Diego. Berkeley is most likely a no-no.

I have an SAT score of 1790 (retaking it tmr) and GPA of 4.0 (will go up to 4.2 by next yr, if i maintain straight As). I'm in the top 25% in my school. I'm also in alot of extracurriculars, such as violin, volunteering, school clubs, prom committee (for next yr), and NHS.

I'll be an out-of-state student as well...

    What is your opinion? Thanks!

  • Is my current GPA, etc. good enough for this college?

I'm currently a junior, and my GPA is a 3.96 (weighted). I'm taking a PreAP course over the summer, and 2 AP courses and 1 PreAP course next year (along with other regular classes), so if i can maintain straight A's, my GPA will go over 4.0.

I'm ranked 157/654, and I'm in the top quarter in my class.

I got a 1790 on my SAT; 550 on Critical Reading, 550 on Math, and 690 on Writing. It was the first time I took it, and I'm retaking it on June. I'm also planning on taking Subject Tests later on.

I will have 200+ hours of volunteering by the end of my senior year. I'm not in any athletics, but I'm currently taking violin lessons. I'm also in National Honor Society at my school. I plan on joining Mu Alpha Theta (a math club) and HOSA (a health occupations club thing) next year.I am also considering in participating in research programs at colleges during the summer (my counselor told me i can do so)

I'm planning on majoring in Biochemistry at Texas A&M University-College Station. Do you think I qualify to enter this program at this college?

Please let me know. Thanks for your help!

  • Am I on the right track for these colleges?

I have a 3.97 weighted GPA and I'm in the top quarter. Class rank is 157/660. I will be receiving SAT scores this Thursday...and I'm anticipating a score of 2000+

I'm aiming on going to UT-Austin, Baylor, maybe Duke, maybe Rice and U of Calgary (in Canada).

I'm doing lots of volunteering outside of school. I plan to sign up with the SPCA too. Since I'm new to this city, I have yet to sign up for other things.I'm also signing up for violin lessons and triathalon training classes as well.

Oh, I'll also be doing 3 SAT Subject Tests (Bio E, Math 1, and Chem)

Do you think I can get into my choices of colleges with what I have, and what I'm doing? Please let me know of ur opinions, and give me any advice if possible! Thanks!

  • Would colleges accept this SAT score, GPA, etc?

I'm a junior, and I currently have a 3.96 GPA. I took the Jan 24 SAT, and i'm expecting anywhere between a 1900-2200. This is the first time I have ever taken the real SAT (but I have taken practice tests).

I'm looking into University of Texas-Austin, Baylor, and Rice....and maybe some of the Ivy League Schools like Brown and Duke (I don't know if Duke is Ivy League or not)

I'm also doing alot of volunteering outside of school, such as helping out at schools, and community events. I'm not in any athletics because I recently moved to the US...and I'm not the athletic type as well. I also signed up with the local food bank and the SPCA. Oh, and I'm also going to be starting violin lessons soon.

I'm aware that universities such as Rice and Duke expect SAT Subject Tests. I am planning on taking 3 of them (Bio E, Math I, and Chem). My mother also told me that you have a bit of an advantage if you're a minority (I am).

So, do you think it's possible if my choices of colleges would accept me? Would they mind if I don't have much athletics (I was on the track team for a year, and that's it)? Please tell me your thoughts. Thank you!!!

  • Does he like me, or is just teasin' me for the heck of it...?

There's this guy who's in 2 of my classes who teases me alot. Sometimes, he'd sneak up behind me and either give me a hug or put his arm around my shoulders, and that really scares the crap outta me (cuz i'm not used to guys doing that). He'd also teasingly make kissing motions with his mouth from across the room...and all his friends would laugh (it's so embarrassing). Once, he also came up beside me and whispered "hey baby" in my ear and rushed back to his seat. That rly rly scared me >.<. He also told me that I looked nice one day, but he had a serious face when he said it, and he said it in a quieter tone too (which i found rather unusual).

He does the things I mentioned above occasionally, not always. Sometimes he'd never notice me until halfway thru the class, and that's when the antics begin -_-.

But the thing is, he never does things to the other girls in class. He's hugged other girls, but because they're his friends. I barely know the guy, except for the fact that we're in 2 classes.

So what do you guys think? I'm not too sure this, and lemme say again that I'm not used to guys hugging me and what not. Is he just poking fun at me for the heck of it, or could something be there? Thanks so much for your opinions~~~

P.S. I'm reposting this question cuz of the tech difficulties Y!A was having

  • Is he just playing the fool or being serious?

There's this guy in 2 of my classes. He's always saying "hi" to me, and teasing me. Sometimes when I'm chatting to my friends he's sneak up behind me and give me a hug, or just put an arm around my shoulders (i'd be sitting, and he'd be standing). He also snuck up beside me and whispered "hey baby" before he went back 2 his seat (that gave me quite a shock). Today in my other class he said that I looked nice today...and he said it in a more serious tone, and in a softer voice as well. I thought that was weird, cuz he was always goofing around...so I had never seen him look serious be4

So, do u guys think if he was just being a major flirt? Or could there be something? I just think he's playing the fool, cuz its not like he talks to me ALL the time, just whenever he sees me. Thanks for your opinion!
