What determines maximum DSL internet speed?
My dad is currently subscribed to the 3mbps DSL service from our local telephone company (Hawaiian telcom), I recently found out that they offer a 7mbps and an 11mbps DSL service. I called Hawaiian telcom to ask if we could get the 11mbps service, and they said that our line can only support a speed of 1.5mbps, but I tested the download speed of our 3mbps service and was able to download files at the advertised speed of 3mbps. Why was the phone company giving false information? and what is required for the line to be able to provide 7mbps or 11mbps?
