My boyfriend came back after months away in the Army, what can i do for him, something special that he will love.

I am 19 and well my best friend is 30, we have been in a kind of relationship for three years already. We just love spending time together, he makes me laugh, he just makes me feel completely happy and makes me forget of whatever problem i might have. I am away in college and we talk on the phone for hours, when i go back home and then it's time to come back he seems to express how he feels towards me. He tells me that he loves me, that i should return home, that he can't be without me. I love those moments, who doesn't like to be told that you are love, but then after a while all his sweet talk seems to vanish and it seems as if we are just really good friends. No more "I Love You"s, it's just so confusing. I love him and use to tell him that all the time, but as he has stopped telling me that i have too, thinking that he doesn't care anymore if i love him or not.I don't know what to do, i love him so much, he have been through a lot. I don't know what to think, someone help me please
