  • Should I be worried my boyfriend hits and breaks things when we fight?

I want to try to make this brief, but I also try to give as much information as possible.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years and living together for 3+ years.

Yesterday we fought because I got jealous over something pretty dumb, but still bothered me. I do admit I’m jealous and possessive, have always been, with everyone and everything. It’s my biggest flaw. Anyway, we started to argue and he flipped out and punched 2 holes into our bathroom door. It was scary to watch and see what I caused, I know I brought it upon myself, but he should have controlled his anger.

I’m aware this behavior is not normal and he has anger management issues. After he cooled off yesterday after our biggest fight, I told him that he scared me and he assured me he would never do anything against me. And also told me we had to take better care of each other and not fight like that again. I only expressed how I felt and he went nuts hitting stuff. I suggested going to counseling, him and I, and he just ignored it.

At this point, I really don’t know how to go about things. I’m definitely never gonna stay quiet about something that bothers me to not trigger him. He needs help but I don’t know how to help him.
